Amos 3:7 -- "Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets."
No, I'm hardly a prophet. Far from it. I'm just a babe in Christ who knows how to use his eyes, ears, and his God-given brain to see the signs that clearly indicate that the end times are upon us (that we're standing at the threshold of the beginning of the Tribulation), and the that prophecies are being fulfilled with each passing moment.

A Mountain Of Evidence
Right On Cue - A Banner Raised On Mountain!!!
Are you sitting down for this one? If what I just learned through my research about how Isaiah 18 could very well be a warning to the United States of America, then how much more relevant does the Isaiah 18:3 verse and its apparent fulfillment as shown in "Right On Cue - A Banner Raised On Mountain!!!" become? Also, there's another very important message in the numbers being used here too I think.
Friends, I think we better stop what we're doing and take a moment to listen to what our Heavenly Father is trying to tell us here. It's now or never just as we've suspected all along on this day July 10th, or 1 day before July 11th which has been on everyone's prophetic radar for nearly a full year now.
Let's examine the Isaiah 18-America connection first. I was surprised to find quite a bit of analysis in this regard online.
I actually found a 2-part video series on YouTube that attempts to interpret this chapter of Isaiah within the context that it's actually speaking about America. It's the perfect complement to this study if you can look past the bizarre graphics, music, and sound of the reader's voice because it definitely makes a very strong case. Have a look and a listen for yourself:
America's Prophecy of Isaiah 18 - Part 1
America's Prophecy of Isaiah 18 - Part 2
Again, it cannot be overstated -- if Isaiah 18 is a warning to the United States of America, then how much more relevant does the Isaiah 18:3 verse and its apparent fulfillment as shown in "Right On Cue - A Banner Raised On Mountain!!!" column become for us? I'd say EXTREMELY RELEVANT wouldn't you?
Luke 21:28 -- "And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draws near."
Here's where the divine providence of God is beyond comprehension. It has to do with some very interesting things associated with the numbers inherent in this discussion. Wait until you see this!
Isaiah 18. The shortest chapter in the entire Book of Isaiah. Only 7 verses in length.
Ah yes, the number 7! What do we learn about it's use in the Holy Bible? You mean aside from the fact that the clean beasts were taken into the Ark by sevens (Genesis 7:2; the others were taken by twos -- 6:19)? You mean aside from the fact that seven steps led up to the Temple in Ezekiel 40? You mean aside from the fact that the first statement as to the original Creation in Genesis 1:1 consists of 7 words? Well, there's quite a bit more that will blow your mind!
We come now to the great number of spiritual perfection. A number which, therefore, occupies so large a place in the works, and especially in the Word of God as being inspired by the Holy Spirit. The importance of this number in Nature and in Grace is apparent.
When we come to consider its significance that the true glories of its spiritual perfection are revealed. We have seen that 6 is the number which is stamped upon all things human, as being emphatically the number of man.
In the Hebrew, seven is (shevah). It is from the root (savah), to be full or satisfied, have enough of. Hence the meaning of the word "seven" is dominated by this root, for on the seventh day God rested from the work of Creation. It was full and complete, and good and perfect. Nothing could be added to it or taken from it without marring it.
Hmmm, didn't the politician whose image was on that banner on the mountain also the same politician who said something about "resting" tomorrow!?!
Hence the word Shavath, to cease, desist, rest, and Shabbath, Sabbath, or day of rest. This root runs through various languages; e.g., Sanscrit, saptan; Zend., hapta; Greek, epta (hepta); Latin, septem. All these preserve the "t," which in the Semitic and Teutonic languages is dropped out; e.g. Gothic, sibun; Germ., sieben; Eng., seven.
It is seven, therefore, that stamps with perfection and completeness that in connection with which it is used. Of time, it tells of the Sabbath, and marks off the week of seven days, which, artificial as it may seem to be, is universal and immemorial in its observance amongst all nations and in all times. It tells of that eternal Sabbath-keeping which remains for the people of God in all its everlasting perfection.
In the creative works of God, seven completes the colours of the spectrum and rainbow, and satisfies in music the notes of the scale. In each of these the eighth is only a repetition of the first.
Another meaning of the root Shavagh is to swear, or make an oath. It is clear from its first occurrence in Genesis 21:31, "They sware both of them," that this oath was based upon the "seven ewe lambs" (vv 28,29,30), which point to the idea of satisfaction or fulness in an oath. It was the security, satisfaction, and fulness of the obligation, or completeness of the bond, which caused the same word to be used for both the number seven and an oath; and hence it is written, "an oath for confirmation is an end of all strife." Beer-sheba, the well of the oath, is the standing witness of the spiritual perfection of the number seven.
Could this mean that the highly anticipated peace treaty, or a major international agreement of some sort (a "covenant" perhaps as in Daniel 9:27?) will be signed by the Antichrist any day now?
Would you believe we also have NOT ONE, BUT TWO Rapture connections to the number 7? Fitting, since we also concluded that Isaiah 18 also refers to a Rapture event.
Psalm 12:6 -- "The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times." (emphasis mine)
Now, here's where the Rapture bit first comes into play. What do we know about the words of the Lord? The words of Jehovah are "pure words", and they are not angelic words, not words pertaining to Heaven; but words used by men on this Earth, human words, and therefore they have to be perfectly purified, as silver is purified in a furnace just as Psalm 12:6 states.
I looked for another instance that had to possibly do with the words of the Lord and found this:
2 Corinthians 12:3-4 -- "And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter." (emphasis mine)
How incredibly amazing is our God!?! Man, even those adjectives don't cut it do they? Wait, there's a second MAJOR Rapture connection too!
The "seventh" man "from Adam" "was not, for God took him". What the heck am I talking about you ask?
Genesis 5:24 -- "And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him."
Do you still believe it was a "coincidence" that I just happened to write about the 3 Raptures Theory the past few days, highlighting Enoch as a very important piece to that puzzle, and here we are finding him come up yet again in relation to a completely different subject?
As if that weren't enough though, we also have a connection between the Ark of the Covenant and the number 7! Unbelievable!
On the great Day of Atonement the blood was sprinkled "ON the mercy-seat eastward." This was Godward, and therefore it was once done and on the mercy-seat. But "BEFORE the mercy-seat" it was to be sprinkled seven times. Before* the mercy-seat seven times, because this was the perfect testimony for the people that the atonement for their sins was accomplished.
* It was "directly before the Tabernacle" that the blood of the red heifer was sprinkled seven times, Numbers 19:4. The leper also was cleansed in the same place with a seven-fold sprinkling of the blood of the killed bird (Leviticus 14:7,11).
The directions for the Day of Atonement are given in Leviticus 16; but from other Scriptures we learn that there were seven sprinklings on that great day, to mark the perfection of accomplished atonement:
1. On the mercy-seat (Leviticus 16:14).
2. Before the mercy-seat (Leviticus 16:14).
3. Before the veil (Leviticus 4:17).
4. On the horns of the golden altar (Exodus 30:10).
5. On the horns of the brazen altar (Leviticus 16:18).
6. Round about upon the altar (Leviticus 16:19).
7. The blood that was left poured out at the foot of the brazen altar (Leviticus 4:18).
Of course, we have the Seven Churches, Seven Seals, Seven Trumpets, Seven Vials, and Seven Bowls of Wrath.
So, if this is indeed a warning for the entire world, but mainly for America, then we might want to fall to our knees and seek the Lord's face, mercy, forgiveness, and protection through repentance and prayer after reading verse 6:
Isaiah 18:6 -- "They shall be left together unto the fowls of the mountains, and to the beasts of the earth: and the fowls shall summer upon them, and all the beasts of the earth shall winter upon them."
Come quickly Lord!

A Mountain Of Evidence
Right On Cue - A Banner Raised On Mountain!!!
I enjoy whenever fellow Brothers or Sisters in Christ engage in an on-going discussion and study with me about end times topics especially those we believe have to do with the Rapture. That's what the Look Up Fellowship is all about!
For those who have commented on the first two parts of this series by pointing out the "errors" in some of what I've presented about my exchanges with John B, I think we're missing the big picture.
I'm not saying you're not right, or that that's not important, but the big picture is what's most important to us here. What's the "big picture" here in this case? The big picture in all of this I think is that Isaiah 18 is speaking about the end times events that will one day take place (I believe one day soon, and that's why we've been drawn to study it at this moment in time). Therefore, I believe it also seems to indicate how close we are to seeing the beginning of Daniel's 70th Week regardless of the specific circumstances involved.
I merely wanted to call attention to that fact, but also point out the surreal incident of how Wednesday morning we highlighted one verse in particular -- Isaiah 18:3 -- that spoke of a banner on a mountain as a sign from God, and then only a few hours later in the day the national headlines included a story about a banner being hung on a mountain! In fact, this is still prominent in the news today!
What are the odds!?! Is that merely a coincidence when I thought that Christians aren't supposed to believe in coincidences or chance? More importantly, at what point do we stop what we're doing and recognize the obvious signs that are right in front of our faces?
I mean, why can't we view these two events as being related and being a fulfillment of that prophecy? Are we that arrogant to assume that our belief about how God will fulfill His plans for humanity (and these prophecies) is the only one that matters, and ignore it when He actually fulfills them in a way we might not expect (a fulfillment nonetheless)?
Just food for thought. Anyway, here's the most recent email I received from John B in this continuing saga of prophecy unfolding before our very eyes:
Jeff,
Love what you found yesterday with the banner on Mount (mountain) Rushmore. I believe the Lord is trying to authenticate what we found in Isaiah 18:3 and to encourage us that we are on the right track.
As per Isaiah 18, I yet again took a fresh look at the Holy Words and you'll see that I added and amended areas differently than the original 4 emails I sent you that I believe more closely follows the meaning of the text.
Verse 1
Woe to the land shadowed with buzzing wings, (locusts--recent article)
Which is beyond the rivers of Ethiopia, (Lord is talking about Ethiopia)
Verse 2
Which send ambassadors by sea,
Even in vessels of reed on the waters, saying,
"Go swift messengers (locusts), to a nation tall and smooth of skin, (Ethiopia)
To a people terrible from their beginning onward,
A nation powerful and treading down,
Whose land the rivers divide." (map of Ethiopia shows rivers that divide the country)
Verse 3
All inhabitants of the world and dwellers on the earth: (Our Lord and Savior addressing the inhabitants of planet earth) When he lifts a banner on the mountains, you see it, (could it be the banner on Mount Rushmore?--When in prior history has a banner been draped across a mountain?) And when he blows a trumpet, you hear it. (could He be referring to the rapture trumpet scripture speaks of?)
Verse 4
For so the Lord said to me, (Isaiah)
I will take My rest, (I have prepared a place for my church / bride as I promised and everything is ready for the end time scenario???) And I will look from my dwelling place (could this particular dwelling place be the clouds of the air the Bible speaks of when He comes to get His church / bride?) Like clear heat in sunshine, (talking about something rising--His elect who have died and are rising to meet Him in the clouds?) Like a cloud of dew in the heat of harvest (also talking about something rising--His elect who are still alive and are caught up to meet Him in the clouds?)
Verse 5
For before the harvest, (end time harvest?) when the bud (church/bride?) is perfect And the sour grape (people left behind?) is ripening in the flower, He (God) will (do two things) both cut off the sprigs (church/bride?) with pruning hooks And take away (rapture?) and cut down the branches. (ones left behind?)
Verse 6
They (the ones left behind?) will be left together for the mountain birds of prey (birds of prey have been referred to on TV as Alien spacecraft or UFOs; Star Trek reference; just a thought given subject matter covered here) And for the beasts of the earth; (Nephilim? entombed giants ready to be released at appropriate time?) The birds of prey will summer on them (will the "Aliens/UFOs" appear right after the rapture and attack the people left behind in summer, this summer???) And all the beasts of the earth will winter on them (will the Nephilim/entombed giants of the earth come out of the earth to attack and feast on the people left behind in winter after the rapture???)
Verse 7
In that time (what time? If you consider the verse prior, it could be at a time in the winter after the rapture) a present (Ark of the Covenant? fake or real) will be brought to the Lord of hosts From a people tall and smooth of skin, (Ethiopians?) And from a people terrible from their beginning onward, A nation powerful and treading down, Whose land the rivers divide-To a place of the name of the Lord of hosts, Mount Zion (Jerusalem-- the Ark of the Covenant whether fake or real taken to Jerusalem in winter sometime after the rapture? This may coincide with the rebuilding of the Jewish Temple in Jerusalem?)
With the Ark in the news last week, locusts in the news last week, and the banner last night, and everything else that is going on around the planet (Pope calling for One World Government and One World Economy; World leaders meeting right now; July 10th/July 11th timeframe of interest; Hate Crimes Bill S 909; and everything else that is prophetically relevant to the end time scenario) I am led to believe that the rapture is near -- very near.
If you want to use any of this on your rapture series your doing feel free.
In Christ,
I am listening for that trumpet!
John
Amen! Thanks John.
Don't we have to at least consider the possibility that all of this is confirmation that the start of the Tribulation is at hand just as we've suspected even if we're wrong in assigning certain specific interpretations to some of the above verse? After all, that's the key point to all of this isn't it?
Stay tuned because I'll be looking into Isaiah 18 a whole lot more for sure.
"Everyone wants to talk about a prophet, but no one wants to listen to one."
Paul Washer, 2002 Sermon
This will be the final entry in this "The Case For Three Raptures" series. Before I conclude the series with this column I think I should probably make a few key statements:
> This is not a Salvation issue. This is solely a study about the Rapture. Two different things.
> Just because this is what I believe doesn't mean that you have to believe it too.
> What does any Rapture study matter to those of you who say I'm wrong? If I'm wrong so what?
> What's my crime? Encouraging holiness as this theory is based upon? How is that a bad thing?
Let me put this out there for consideration. Most of the readership here believes in the so-called "Alien/UFO" phenomenon being intricately linked to end times events as a "demonic" phenomenon in actuality, and yet there's FAR LESS PROOF to support that position in the Holy Bible when compared to the ABUNDANCE OF EVIDENCE to support this 3 Rapture position within the same holy Book. Isn't there a problem with that? I could even point to the countless hours I spent writing about Synchronicity and Synchro-Pop. No objections whatsoever there, but the minute I write about things found in the Bible that would actually challenge and motivate us to be better the floodgates open. Isn't that quite telling? Why can't we at least consider the possibility that there's some merit to this? Why are we so quick to oppose it without closer scrutiny especially if it's predicated on something good -- something like examining ourselves daily to make sure we're moving towards greater holiness?
I completely understand the feeling that most of you are having because I had it too when I began this study a couple of months ago. I actually set out to DISPROVE THIS THEORY when I first learned about it, but it would be intellectually dishonest of me to report back and say that I've been able to do that when, in fact, it changed my entire perspective on the entire Rapture debate, and actually put my mind and soul at peace and rest because it makes sense. How does it do that? In a nutshell, because it combines 3 of the 5 most popular perspectives on the Rapture into this single theory and says that there's a reason for all the confusion.
I'm still amazed by the nature and phenomenon of this debate, or for any Rapture discussion for that matter. Why does the Rapture cause so much anger, division, and hostility within the Body of Christ? It's a serious question. Can anyone provide me with an honest answer?
Could it be that this is precisely what Satan wants? He doesn't want us to know the real truth of the matter because he knows if we did we'd immediately have to change some things in our lives and aggressively pursue greater repentance and holiness so he blinds us into thinking that there's absolutely no way that this could be true.
You'd think I was promoting some kind of heresy or something. According to some emails I've received, you'd think I was questioning the Virgin Birth, the deity of Jesus Christ, His work on the cross, the Gospel of Salvation, and/or His Resurrection. My gosh, this isn't a Salvation issue at all let alone me trying to alter a fundamental tenet of our shared Christian faith so why the fierce responses? I know I'll get verbally stoned for this, but I propose that the fierce reaction is due to the fact that perhaps this has struck a nerve somewhere, or perhaps it's causing people to recoil a bit because they know that if true, then they have a lot of work to do.
Now, surely, at this point some will undoubtedly say, "See! I knew it! This is a works-based theology!" To which I'd reply, "Yes! Yes it is! What's your point?"
Again, WE'RE NOT TALKING ABOUT SALVATION so that argument is useless here. We're talking about evidence -- fruit -- of the Christian lifestyle. Remember James please!
James 2:20 -- "But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?" (emphasis mine)
All I've done was ask the question: "Why is there such a disparity between believers let alone evidence for multiple perspectives regarding the timing of the Rapture?". This book by Ty Lamb -- for me -- was the first source (backed up by the Holy Bible of course) to answer that question and I wanted to write about it and share my findings with all of you.
As expected, this week's work on the "3 Raptures Theory" has caused quite a stir and generated some heated responses. So, I feel a gentle rebuttal of sorts is in order here.
Please allow me a moment to issue a reminder about my approach here in this forum. You'll find this on the left hand side of the page in the "Our Purpose" section:
Also, one important note about our approach here that I would like to mention. I believe it is a common, but very serious MISTAKE, for us to think that just because we may disagree on some points when it comes to interpreting the Bible and its prophecies, that another Brother or Sister in Christ Jesus, in the Body of Christ (in their perceived "error"), cannot ADD MANY OTHER IMPORTANT NUGGETS OF TRUTH that will ultimately help us in growing in grace and knowledge of our God and His big picture regarding what is happening all around us, and what will happen in the very near future.
Besides, we know from Proverbs 25:2 that "It is the glory of God to conceal a matter..." Christians are supposed to be lovers of truth, and I'm hoping we can all consider that our current interpretations of prophecy may be slightly incorrect since we know that 1 Corinthians 13 tells us we see "through a glass, darkly" and that God told Daniel in Daniel 12:4, "But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased."
We put these news items, commentaries, interviews, research, theories, and information here as a public service, and in an effort to bring glory to God. It is up to you to seek the Lord and pray, while using the Holy Bible as your guideline. We do not, and we never will, suggest that anyone should seek man for the answers. We must take all things to, and seek and rely on the Lord because we are warned to watch, pray, and not be deceived in Matthew 24, Mark 13, Luke 21, 2 Thessalonians 2, and elsewhere.
Since day one, this has been -- and always will be -- my approach here.
Yes, this website is about bringing glory and honor to God at all times by attempting to prove on a consistent basis that He is real, His Word as found in the Holy Bible is accurate and can be trusted, that end times prophecy is being fulfilled all around us, and that the beginning of Daniel's 70th Week (Tribulation/Great Tribulation) is closer than ever before. How does this particular study and assertion do anything but support all of that?
At the same time, it's also about documenting for posterity my own personal spiritual journey. I'm merely a babe in Christ, and so I try to write about all the things that are unique to my own personal experience in getting to know our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Sometimes that means writing about the "difficult" or "hard" questions and concerns I have about certain things. Most times, I find that these are the same feelings and thoughts that many of you have had at one time or another, but maybe were afraid to pursue and tackle because of the fear of what you might find. Shaking one's entrenched position on any subject let alone a religious one is something that most people shy away from. It's human nature. That's fine. I'm not here to judge, but please don't criticize me for attempting to be as transparent about my studies in pursuit of God and His truth.
You certainly don't have to agree with everything (or anything) I write about here and I would never recommend that you do before looking into them yourself and taking them under prayerful consideration to God. But at least look into them honestly and seriously before you decide to simply attack and blast me.
Again, I'm still amazed by the nature and phenomenon of this debate. Why does the Rapture cause so much anger, division, and hostility within the Body of Christ? You'd think I was promoting some kind of heresy or something like trying to change someone's views about Jesus Christ or the doctrine of Salvation. My gosh, this isn't a Salvation issue let alone me trying to alter a fundamental tenet of our shared Christian faith so why the fierce responses?
By reading that 400+ page book by Ty Lamb over the course of the past several weeks in my spare time, and now writing about it on my website, I hope that it is evident that I am looking for truth and not just the things I "already agree with" (or those things that only "confirm and support my pre-established position") as some have suggested.
Look, I'll be the first to admit that I struggled with this idea at first too! To give any other impression would be completely dishonest of me. I began this study with the sole intent of debunking it. However, the more I read and the more Biblical proof I saw, the more I began to believe it.
Now, does that mean that this is the "final answer" to the entire debate? Of course not! We should never become too rigid or dogmatic in our understanding of the things of God because who are we to have such wisdom? Still, while it may not be the "final answer" it has -- for me -- brought me that much closer to what I believe the final answer to be because this "theory" has an abundance of evidence from the Bible to back it up, and it makes the most sense to me out of any of the other commonly held views. I'm sorry, it does.
Writing these pieces on this subject this week is my attempt to provide the truth as best as I can to my readers, but at the end of the day it's really up to each one of you to decide on your own and for yourself whether or not it's to be believed as it's presented. I do believe it should.
Thank you to those who reminded me that "The Lord is not glorified by the latest 'what about this?' possibility" and that "Truth is VERY important to Him" because I couldn't agree with you all more as evidenced by the other day's post titled "Say Goodbye To Synchro-Pop?".
Yet, I have to ask in all sincerity, where were you, my fellow Brothers and Sisters in Christ, who were so concerned about "The Lord is not glorified by the latest 'what about this?' possibility" and that "Truth is VERY important to Him" when I dived head first into the occult and Synchronicity/Synchro-Pop? Isn't that what any study of Synchronicity and Synchro-Pop was all about? Personally, I'd think that my writings about such things should have prompted this same kind of response don't you? So, why is it that all that time I never received a single message from some of you in a similar spirit, and yet now when I write about the Rapture (a non-occult, non-satanic subject), that's the specific moment that you choose to come at me with these charges and "reminders"? Just another one of the thoughts on my mind today.
With all due respect, for someone anyone who encourages others to take the necessary time to research and consider a point of view before dismissing it outright, I'm completely baffled by how those same people can make such a claim without even looking into to this subject first themselves in an honest effort to either approve or disprove it. Read the book. Examine the evidence. Then make a final analysis.
My friends, what the author suggests is that the various perspectives on the Rapture are all legit because there's supposed to be multiple Rapture events, and that's why we find hard evidence to support each one in the Bible.
The Biblical evidence to support such a "theory" is sound and it's all there. Hopefully, I've done a good enough job in these columns to whet your appetite a bit because I would think it would be exactly the type of study that the Look Up Fellowship community of believers would be interested in to no end.
In the end, I'm only trying to report on the things that I've experienced that make sense to me in my relationship with God, His Son Jesus Christ, and His Word as found in the Holy Bible. I can do nothing more, or nothing less.
Thanks for you time, consideration, and thoughtful responses.
As I've stated SEVERAL TIMES throughout this series -- THIS IS NOT A SALVATION ISSUE. What you believe about the Rapture has ABSOLUTELY NO EFFECT ON WHETHER OR NOT YOU'RE SAVED and will spend eternity with Jesus Christ when you die. None.
We're talking about the RAPTURE, not SALVATION, which we also know is secure in grace through faith in Jesus Christ and His sacrifice on the cross on our behalf. Case closed.
Yet, while our Salvation is not a works-based, level of holiness issue I must ask what if the Rapture is a works-based, level of holiness issue? What if? Furthermore, what's the harm in asking that question? If I'm correct, then what's my crime? Motivating myself and other Brothers and Sisters in Christ to actually work harder to live the kind of life our Lord intends us to live? Is that really such a bad thing?
You know, I just can't shake one of the excerpts I included in the last piece in this series:
> The cold, hard truth of the matter: "We draw the conclusion that only those who are mature in their faith, walking the narrow road of obedience, prepared and watchful will be taken. What a troubling thing to contemplate. The remaining unrepentant believers will be left behind. This vast group of people who have accepted a gospel of mediocrity will likely miss the first rapture. Knowing beforehand this probing exercise will likely rouse some uncomfortable emotions and responses, I encourage you to forge ahead with me along this amazing journey of discovery. Though I am not God and certainly not the judge, this could serve as a POSSIBLE list of those who may not be adequately prepared:
Those who made a commitment to Jesus sometime in their life but did not continue to maturity ( Matthew 13:21; Hebrews 10:39).
Those who have not surrendered their will to God, but continue to pursue their own self-gratifying desires (Matthew 7-24-27; Romans 8:6-8; 1 Corinthians 3:13-15).
Those who believe they will go to heaven because they live by the Golden Rule and are a good person (Matthew 19:13, 22; Romans 3:23).
Those who believe willful, casual, and occasional sin is acceptable for a believer (Galatians 5:21; Hebrews 10:26-27).
Those who have ignored the inner promptings of the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 4:30).
Those weakened by poor church leadership or who become lazy and unfruitful because of the eternal security doctrine (Matthew 25:14-30).
Those trapped in the bondage of habitual sin and who refuse to confront the truth and seek deliverance (2 Timothy 3:5; 2 Peter 2:17-22).
Those who are sincere people exposed to and seduced by pseudo-Christian prophets and teachers, who became deceived through false teaching (Matthew 7:21-23; 24:24-25; Galatians 1:6-9; 1 Timothy 4:1,16; 6:3-7; 2 Timothy 4:3-4; Jude 1:4).
Those who focus on outward appearances while they quietly sweep issues under the carpet or nurtture their pet sin in the closet (Matthew 23:1-36; 1 Timothy 5:24-25).
Those injured by someone in the church and it was not properly reconciled. Un-forgiveness still exists (Matthew 18:21-35).
Those confused and frustrated because of church schism and disunity. They fail to realize the church is a place where iron sharpens iron. It is also a place Satan loves to attack. Church should be viewed as a rehabilitation hospital, not a museum of perfected saints.
Those who believe church involvement to be irrelevant, boring, ineffective, or unattractive (1 Corinthians 2:14; James 2:14-26).
Those with faith, yet were found distracted by life's issues. Rather than finding a way to serve the Lord, they pacify themselves with worldly pleasures (Matthew 13:22; 25:5; Luke 21:34; James 4:1-4).
Those who horde their wealth and their heart and security is with their treasures (Matthew 6:19-21; 19:23-24; Acts 5:1-11; 1 Timothy 6:7-10, 17-18; Hebrews 13:5; James 5:1-6; Revelation 3:14-22).
Those who believe they have paid their dues by serving in their church for a time and have withdrawn themselves from service (1 Corinthians 15:58; James 2:14-26, 4:17).
Those whose faith is rooted in the institution of the church, its leadership, history and traditions rather than the person, Jesus Christ (Matthew 15:1-9; Hebrews 12:2).
Those who pray or worship icons, angels, saints, idols, or any other graven image. They have entertained and permitted intermediate agents to intercede for them rather than seeking personal intimacy with Jesus Himself (Hebrews 4:14-16).
Those who have become desensitized through the cry-wolf syndrome. The church has been preaching about the second coming for years (James 5:7-11). [pages 170-173]
Sobering, isn't it? That's a ton of Scriptural evidence to suggest that a certain type of lifestyle as a Christian is more appealing to God than any other type, isn't it?
Let's be honest here -- God expects us to try to live holy lives (to become a model of Jesus Christ in this world) and to CONSTANTLY REPENT each and every time we commit sin after being saved. If you doubt that we're expected and instructed to live holy lives after we're saved, then please watch the following earth-shaking message by Paul Washer:
Forget all the times he mentions the Baptist denomination (because I know that there will be some people who will close their ears to the truth the moment they start to hear that word) because there is an abundance of cold, hard truth in his sermon.
I included this sermon here because in this late and urgent hour I believe it's absolutely critical for us to take a good, long, hard look at ourselves in the mirror, drop the facade, humble ourselves, and recognize the truth of the matter. I believe this particular message from Washer nails it, and that it's extremely relevant to this Rapture debate.
I think the problem with "Churchianity" today is that we're complacent in a sense whether we know it or not, or that we're a reflection of the very same culture and society we claim and say we detest.
What do I mean? What's the application to this entire discussion then? It's simple really.
Precisely that just like WE CANNOT UTTER A 30-SECOND SINNER'S PRAYER AND THINK THAT THAT'S ALL WE NEED TO DO TO PLEASE GOD (sure, we might be saved, but then we go about our daily lives and routines without giving God and His holy Word more than a passing thought on Sundays or when we need Him the most, let alone change our lifestyle), by the same token, WE CANNOT JUST SIT BACK AND REST ON THIS NOTION THAT EVERYTHING WILL BE OK AND THAT THERE ARE NO WORRIES FOR US WHEN IT COMES TO DANIEL'S 70TH WEEK BECAUSE WE'LL ALL BE RAPTURED OUT OF HERE BEFORE THE GOING GETS TOUGH because we know that's simply not the case!
Many saints will actually be martyred so how do we explain that? Are these only those who are saved AFTER the Tribulation begins? They could be, but I currently believe this 3 Rapture scenario carries more weight than that idea.
The 3 Rapture scenario MOTIVATES US TO GET OUR SPIRITUAL HOUSE IN ORDER NOW AND IT KEEPS US FOCUSED ON BEING THE BEST WE CAN BE IN THIS LIFE -- ON AN ON-GOING BASIS. What if those who get to escape in a Pre-Tribulation Rapture are REWARDED FOR LIVING SUCH A LIFESTYLE? Then, those seeking the error in their ways, are the believers who then repent and refocus and they get to go in the next Rapture? I'm just suggesting that it's food for thought in light of Lamb's presentation and Washer's comments on holiness after Salvation.
Again, I'm just putting this out there for people to decide on their own. I know people have concerns. I know people have questions. That's a good thing. For those people, even if the 3 Raptures scenario is true there's still a "Pre-Trib" Rapture that's part of it and therefore it would remain the "blessed hope" right? How do we know if we're "holy enough"? That's a good question. Perhaps that's why Jesus commands us to always "pray that we're counted worthy to escape the things that are coming upon the Earth".
What if the way it worked was like this:
ALL BELIEVERS WILL BE RAPTURED. The only thing in question is at what point along God's prophetic timeline that happens. When you get to "escape" is sort of like your reward for your level of holiness (sort of like the various crowns we're rewarded in Heaven, right?) since we're instructed to model ourselves after Jesus Christ in this life.
It's just a thought.
This is merely a collection of excerpts from Ty Lamb's book that I felt were thought-provoking. They're also the ones that really resonated with me as I worked my way through his book.
> "Truth stands steadfast, is unwavering over time, and patiently waits for man to come to his senses. Let us be certain about this fact: the Bible stands as un-refutable truth, whether we fully understand it or not is in flux. As we gaze to the future through the pages of Scripture, we must remain humble and flexible in our best efforts to understand it." [p. 38]
> "While pouring over the scriptures to prepare this book, it was revealed time and again the explicit call for our spiritual preparation. Throughout the Bible there is a great deal of emphasis directed toward responsibility and accountability for the believer." [p. 131]
> Finally, some clarity perhaps: "Could it be possible that while we have been debating these things for many years to the exclusion of one another, there might be another way? Perhaps we, collectively, have been right all along. In the three-rapture theory, we incorporate the pre-tribulation position, the mid-tribulation position, the pre-wrath position, and the partial-rapture position into one consistent and unified view. What a wonderful possibility." [p. 132]
> "For the subject of this book, the key verse is verse 16. This verse becomes one of several key passages that might be saying more than we first realize if we simply look at it from another angle. Here are the possibilities.
1) Paul is describing a single event in three different ways for the sake of dramatic emphasis. This is the most commonly accepted interpretation.
2) Paul is describing three separate events or effects that will culminate simultaneously.
3) Finally, for the position of this book, let us examine a third possibility. May it be suggested that Paul was describing three separate descents or ingathering events that are to occur in the last days. Let us look at it again:
1 Thessalonians 4:16 (NASB) For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven
1) with a shout, 2) with the voice of THE archangel, 3) and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.
Paul's complete understanding of these events is not known. He may have been speaking from a position of complete disclosure and foreknowledge of what is to come. On the other hand, he may have written something that was veiled even to him at the time and has been revealed for us in this late hour." [pages 140-141]
> We might find an important clue in Luke 12:38 which reads: "It will be good for those servants whose master finds them ready, even if he comes in the second or third watch of the night" [p. 152]
> "In Bullinger's book, Number in Scripture, he gives incredible insight to the study of numerology and shows that numbers in the Bible are not incidental nor are they arbitrary...More loosely, we might say wherever we see an emphasis of THREE, we are looking at the signature of the Godhead." [p. 162] (*NOTE: Try a search for all the significant 3's found in the Bible -- you'll be amazed!)
> "From this Scripture (1 Corinthians 2:10-16) it is clear that if you do not possess the Holy Spirit in your heart and mind, things of God will not make sense (See also Dan. 12:10b)." [p. 55]
> "There are three basic views concerning the seals, trumpets, and bowls: simultaneous, consecutive succession, and telescopic...It seems clear these two events link the seals, trumpets, and bowls together in a linear fashion that helps us conclude they are in fact occurring in a succession rather than the simultaneous events earlier explained...It is reasonable to consider these things are already upon the earth and would manifest themselves as the birth pains Jesus describes in Mathhew 24, Mark 13 and Luke 21. This would very well explain many historical events we have seen in history: the rise and fall of nations, world wars, famine, droughts, plagues, cancer, AIDS, etc...Therefore the view presented in this book makes use of the consecutive view and the telescopic view to describe the seals." [pages 61-62]
> "We must not confuse the rapture of the church with His second coming. They are categorically separate events." [p. 68]
> "Some suggest 'replacement theology' in that the Church replaces Israel's position in the world in relationship with God. Absolutely not! (Eph. 3:6). We should completely reject anything that suggests God is finished with Israel. We should also reject the notion that Israel is on 'standby' while God works through the Church. The Lord is always at work, even in the subtle, and most certainly while we are silent and still before Him." [p. 71]
> Two Winesses: "Whether they are literally two men and/or metaphorically represent two groups of believing people is not known. Some have Moses and Elijah in view. From the context of Revelation they possess supernatural powers, and protection (vv. 5-6). There is a curious similarity between the two witnesses of Revelation 11 and the lampstands and olive trees of Zechariah 4. They are symbolically called olive trees and two lampstands; olive trees may be interpreted as Messianic, believing Israel (Zech. 4:14; Rom. 11:17), and the lampstands, i.e. light of the world (Mat. 5:14-16; Rev. 1:20), is the Gentile Church that has been prepared following the first rapture. They will preach for three-and-a-half years beginning sometime after the first rapture and then will be killed (v. 7). We know significant martyrdom will take place in this timeframe (Rev. 12:17; 13:7,15). After three-and-a-half 'days' they will be taken up to heaven or raptured (vv. 9, 12). If the two witnesses are in fact representative of two groups of witnesses on the earth a second rapture is evident." [p.73]
> "It has been observed there is a large number of people who believe they are Christian in their personal beliefs and world view, yet do not believe the rapture doctrine is biblical. It is time to put to rest the argument and establish a firm biblical presentation concerning this fascinating subject." [p. 81]
> "What I discovered, to a large extent, is that the rapture doctrine is dismissed as invalid on the basis of early Church history and their view of prophecy which was mentioned earlier. The premise for their argument is this: 'If the early church fathers did not speak nor believe in a rapture doctrine, it must not be true.' How could anyone make such a statement when, as you will see, it is clearly revealed in scripture? On this basis, what might they say about the doctrine of the Trinity? As we know, the doctrine of the Trinity took rwo hundred years to define and clearly articulate. If our measuring rod of truth rests with the opinions of men, and our faith in the institutions of men, we have completely lost our foundation. Truth is a person; His name is Jesus Christ (Yeshua HaMashiac)." [p. 85]
> John 14:1-4: "The tone of Yeshua's words in this passage is gentle and reassuring. We are unable to pin down with exactness the context that Yeshua was referring to. Was he referring to the rapture, His physical coming, or events near the end of the millennium? We simply do not know. What we do know is Jesus is presently in heaven and we will gather there with Him for a grand reception called the 'Wedding Supper of the Lamb.' After this, we will descend with Him to the earth and establish His kingdom. With this in mind, Jesus is, after all, likely speaking about the rapture. The hard fact is, despite our best interpretations, He will not forget about us." [p. 94]
> "The Old Testament record reveals two amazing events whereby men of God never saw death, but were simply taken from the earth. Among many others, both Enoch and Elijah were highly favored of God...Since Gid raptured saints in the past, it is reasonable that He will do it again in the future." [pages 95-96]
> See Genesis 5:24, Hebrews 11:5, and 2 Kings 11-12. "We cannot fail to make this interesting observation: Each of these miraculous events may serve as two pre-types of events to come in which there would be an UNEXPECTED Enoch rapture of those who walk with God; and there would be a second Elijah rapture of those who are FULLY AWARE of the soon coming event (2 Kings 2:9) and that it takes place dramatically with apocalyptic fire and horsemen. Let us keep this in mind as we continue along." [pages 96-97]
> "It is fascinating to consider that just as He ascended through clouds to glory, so will many of His faithful followers ascend through the clouds to glory." [p. 98]
> On the Greek word harpazo: "As stated earlier, the most common uses of the word are defined as: snatching away, taken by force, and or an escape from danger." [p. 98]
> "As in the dramatic rescue of Lot and his two daughters, we have learned that to escape from danger does not require a supernatural rapture event. There was, however, supernatural intervention as the two angels came and persuaded them to leave the city. Sometimes escape from danger could be as practical as a man running away from a hungry bear. It could mean hiding in an old cave as Elijah did until the danger passed (1 Kings 19:9). Maybe it means fleeing to a city of refuge established under Joshua (Joshua 20). All of this is taken into account. But as we have already seen in Scripture, three literal, SUPERNATURAL raptures have already occurred. What is coming on the face of this planet is a situation with such peril that a dramatic escape is necessary for God to be in keeping with His character and promises. In the same way as the Old Testament included bits and pieces, here a little, there a little, of the coming of the Messiah that were flawlessly fulfilled, perhaps the same observation can be made concerning future rapture events." [p. 102]
> "As of this date of writing this book, to my knowledge there has not been any such historical event in church history that can adequately describe or literally satisfy a 'catching away' of believers. Therefore, it requires very little effort to place the event sometime in our future. As some would say, and I do not disagree, the very near future." [p. 103]
> See Genesis 5:24: "It is significant to observe that many Old Testament figures are only mentioned once. The Lord made certain that Enoch would not be easily forgotten. The writer of Hebrews, and Jude inspired by the Holy Spirit, included Enoch in their discourse, providing us a second and a third measure of emphasis for New Testament believers to ponder." [p. 105]
> See Hebrews 11:5 and Jude 14:15: "By reading the commentary given in Hebrews, it looks like our interpretation is correct. Because of Enoch's pleasing and intimate communion with Yahweh God, he was snatched out of this world to be with Him. He never knew the pain of death. Our response to this should be, 'Wow! What do I need to be doing and what should I be about in order for God to be tempted to do the same with me?'" [pages 105-106]
> "To close, let our thoughts and contemplations be seeded with this observation: In biblical history, up to the present, three have been raptured from the earth -- Enoch, Elijah, and Jesus Christ." [p. 108]
To reiterate before we continue with this exciting series, Lamb's reasoning and proof and good solid Scriptural evidence was enough to convince me of the possibility that this theory is valid because it's the only one that actually addresses why there is such a division within the Body of Christ over the issue of the Rapture. In a sense, it's because all views of it's timing are correct because there are 3 Raptures!
Also, the key thing throughout this study for all of us to remember is that THIS IS NOT A SALVATION ISSUE, BUT A RAPTURE ISSUE.
I need to point that out because I know that there will be some who will write me (without even giving this theory a single serious thought) to suggest I'm somehow saying that whether or not we're saved is determined by our works and how holy we are. That's NOT AT ALL what I'm saying here. Again, this is a RAPTURE discussion and not a SALVATION discussion.
What Lamb proposes is that the "WHEN" (AS IN "WHEN GET TO GO IN THE RAPTURE -- THE FIRST? THE SECOND? THE THIRD?) is DIRECTLY CONNECTED to our level of faith in such an event, but more so in our level of holiness and to what extent that we're spiritually prepared.
Please note that Lamb says he decided to use different versions for added clarity and diversity; The New International Version for its readability, The English Standard Version for its literal and syntax qualities of translation, and the New American Standard for its reputation among scholars.
Lamb writes: "From Revelation, three visions of worship are pictured in heaven that align perfectly with each rapture event and are consistent in time and content. All one has to do is imagine there to be a welcoming reception and worship in heaven following a rapture...You will notice as well, that I make use of Scripture found in Isaiah 64 and 65 while describing the three rapture events. If you follow them closely, you will identify a wonderful relationship with the themes that have been developing."
At this juncture, I want to point out that I don't intend to include all of Lamb's research here verbatim because I don't believe that to be the right thing for me to do, but I will provide enough info that you can begin searching and contacting the dots (using this as a roadmap of sorts) on your own and prove it to yourself if what he's asserting (and what I'm pitching) is true and consistent with God's holy Word.
THE FIRST RAPTURE
> Isaiah 64:3-5 -- "For when you did awesome things that we did not expect, you came down, and the mountains trembled before you. Since ancient times no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides you, who acts on behalf of those who wait for him. You come to the help of those who gladly do right, who remember your ways. But when we continued to sin against them, you were angry. How then can we be saved?" (emphasis his/mine)
> Enoch -- The Dill Harvest -- The Rapture of the Faithful -- Firstborn/Unleavened Bread
> "In keeping with the teachings of Jesus we are hard-pressed not to believe there will be an early, unexpected, and imminent catching away of His faithful ones. Knowing our human nature, the doctrine of the imminent return is a fundamental essential. If the Lord were to spell out things plainly and give empirical warning signs of His soon return, our nature would be to haphazardly wait until the last possible minute to get our lives together. The doctrine of the imminent return has been given to believers over the centuries, not as a false hope, but to give us incentive and motivation to be prepared at all times. After all, unbeknownst to any of us, today or tomorrow may be our last. 'To be absent from the body, is to be present with the Lord.' We should be living our lives as if today were our last, yet also look ahead to many more years. Once the 70th Week of Daniel time clock begins, things will happen like a flood. Subsequent events during this time will have more obvious signs." [pages 263-264]
> Imminent and Unexpected (Matthew 24:36-51; Matthew 25:1-13; 1 Thessalonians 5:1-3).
> The Shout -- "Come up here!". Revelation 4 describes the apostle John as he is about to be taken into the heavenly realm to witness the grand reception of Jesus Christ after He ascended to heaven. Some believe this passage has a dual meaning. It is conceivable to consider the invitation of John to "Come up here," may also inform us of an undisclosed mystery and possible rapture. It is further fitting to consider correlation as this invitation also fits the description given by Paul, "a shout" (1 Thessalonians 4:14). See also Revelation 4 and Revelation 6:12-14. [pages 268-269]
> "We ask a curious question: Since the seals are first in the order of judgments to be released, why mention here descriptions of events that take place near the end? Might it be possible there is also some discreet purpose? Though extremely vague, the receded sky mentioned at this point may be viewed as an 'open window' to receive raptured saints." [p. 270]
> The Heavenly Reception -- Worship the Lamb (Revelation 7:9-17)
THE SECOND RAPTURE
> Elijah -- The Cumin Harvest -- The Rapture of Hope -- Firstfruits/Harvest
> Isaiah 64:6-8 -- "All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away. No one calls on your name or strives to lay hold of you; for you have hidden your face from us and made us waste away because of our sins. Yet, O LORD, you are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand." (emphasis his/mine)
> The Signs. By this time the signs are obvious. The first rapture has taken place. The world will be in turmoil as the first six trumpet judgments cause unparalleled drought, famine, plagues, and death. See Matthew 24:21-23.
> "This rapture event is the most definitive of the three. It occurs at the interlude between the sixth and seventh trumpets and the gathering of the two witnesses of Revelation 11 'Come up here.' Also pictured in this rapture are the 144,000 Jewish witnesses who were identified and sealed in Revelation 7. In Revelation 14:1-5 we see they are in heaven, standing before Jesus prior to the sickle harvest of the same chapter. For the sake of those still remaining on the earth after this rapture, the work of evangelism is left to the work of the three angels described in Revelation 14:6-13. The mystery mentioned below in Revelation 10, without a doubt, is the same mystery Paul spoke of in 1 Corinthians 15 and clearly points to the events described in Revelation 11." [p. 272]
> The Heavenly Reception -- Song of Moses and the Song of the Lamb. See Revelation 11:15-19 and Revelation 14:1-5. It is fitting this worship reception is the same event described next in Revelation 15. It is suggested believing Israel is included in this rapture, noting the song of Moses (Israel) and the song of the Lamb (Church) in the text. Note that the song of Moses is found in Exodus 15:1-21 and Deuteronomy 32:1-43. [p. 276]
THE THIRD RAPTURE
> Jesus Christ -- The Barley Harvest -- The Rapture of Love -- The Afflicted/Ingathering
> Isaiah 64:9-12 -- "Do not be angry beyond measure, O LORD; do not remember our sins forever. Oh, look upon us, we pray, for we are all your people. Your sacred cities have become a desert; even Zion is a desert, Jerusalem a desolation. Our holy and glorious temple, where our fathers praised you, has been burned with fire, and all that we treasured lies in ruins. After all this, O LORD, will you hold yourself back? Will you keep silent and punish us beyond measure?"
> Isaiah 65:8-9 -- "This is what the LORD says: 'As when juice is still found in a cluster of grapes and men say, 'Don't destroy it, there is yet some good in it,' so will I do in behalf of my servants; I will not destroy them all. I will bring forth descendants from Jacob, and from Judah those who will possess my mountains; my chosen people will inherit them, and there will my servants live.'"
> "The Signs. In reference to Matthew 24:29-31, as you will see momentarily, this harvest or rapture is closely associated with signs in the heavens, culminates with great distress, and occurs immediately prior to the coming of Jesus Christ to the earth. This final rapture reveals our Lord's great love for His children. By this late hour there is nothing else but pure love that would summon the mercy of God." See also Matthew 3:11-12 and Revelation 13:7-10. [p. 278]
> "By this time, countless remaining believers have been martyred, the rest are in hiding. The final harvest is reserved for those of the more stubborn sort who have been evangelized by the three angels of Revelation 14:6-13, have suffered the persecution of the antichrist, have avoided receiving his mark (Rev. 13:16-18; 14:9-13), and somehow have been able to avoid martyrdom. This is the believers' final opportunity to escape the wrath of God." [p. 279]
> The Trumpet Call of God -- "Come out of her!". See Matthew 24:29-31.
> Notice from 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 that the message is inclusive of three possible raptures (pay close attention to verse 16).
> It reminds us and encourages the remaining saints of three calls -- "loud command", "voice of the archangel", and "the trumpet call of God".
> Following the last rapture, the winepress of God's wrath will consume all of those remaining.
RECOMMENDED READING:
Three Raptures Book (Press Release)
To reiterate, Lamb's reasoning and proof and good solid Scriptural evidence was enough to convince me of the possibility that this theory is valid because it's the only one that actually addresses why there is such a division within the Body of Christ over the issue of the Rapture. In a sense, it's because all views of it's timing are correct because there are 3 Raptures!
One thing that I really appreciated about Ty Lamb's book and his approach to this subject was how genuinely humble he was about the whole thing. I challenge anyone to find a more humble teacher and writer in this day and age. For me, that says a lot about a person's relationship with out Lord and their true motivations.
I mean, he really went to great lengths to make it clear that this was a subject he wrestled with and one he knows the Lord wanted him to write about. Every single assertion is backed up with the appropriate portion of Scripture, and the layers upon layers of explanation of how this 3 Raptures theory actually fits the best out of any other perspective that is out there (at least, in my eyes it does) is totally refreshing.
I would even go so far as to say that after reading this study it was the first time in my life that I've been at complete peace when it comes to my thoughts and position regarding the entire Rapture debate. That's certainly saying a lot. Have you ever been able to say the same? I'm willing to bet that you're like most people in that you know why you hold to the Rapture perspective that you do, but you also have to admit that yours in not a perfect one. Why? Because NONE of the popular views regarding the Rapture are "perfect" and they can't stand on their own since each one makes some sense if we're being honest.
Lamb proposes that there's a clear purpose and reason for that reality, and that it's rooted in the fact that there are actually 3 distinct Rapture events.
I also love the fact that at the end of the book he even devotes an ENTIRE CHAPTER called "Problems With The Three Rapture Theory" stating the following:
Any effort that strives to be forthright and objective is obligated to scrutinize the various parts that weaken the position. To present a theory with integrity we must not only wrestle with such things in our study prior to publication, we must offer this same transparency to the reader as well.
Amen! Boy, he'd fit right in with this community of believers I think. Perhaps I could interest him in being a future guest of mine on The Big Finale show. We shall see.
Before we really dive into this study I think it's best we gauge our own current "spiritual temperature" or at least think about such things to put us in the right frame of mind first.
Here's what Lamb includes at the very beginning of his treatise before diving in. Again, I think it's another good example of the great care and pains he went to in order to ensure that this was a serious, God-honoring study for Christians worldwide to prayerfully consider on their own.
No matter what doctrine you are considering for adoption into your own faith constitution, there are a few very important questions to ask:
> How will this doctrine affect my faith and devotion?
> Does this doctrine rationalize and justify sin and/or mediocrity in my spiritual life?
> Heart test: Am I looking for loopholes or escape clauses to try to justify my lifestyle choices and actions?
> Do I have an assorted, eclectic shopping cart theology that is drawn from a wide variety of religious sources? Is this sound practice as a Christian? Not!
> Does this doctrine systematically relate with Biblical theology? Can it be well demonstrated in Scripture?
> Do I have an argumentative attitude that is often above correction?
> Am I closed within the confines of traditional beliefs and doctrines?
> Will this motivate me and encourage me to walk closer with Jesus?
> Will I be more watchful and vigilant in my faith?
> Will I be more confident in my salvation?
> Will I be more zealous to share my faith with others?
> Will this doctrine help me to be less deceived by others?
> Will this prepare me to better understand end times events?
> Will I be able to stand before Jesus Christ unashamed?
Now that we've asked some important questions of ourselves, let's continue with a little more introspection to set the stage so to speak.
In Part 1, we mentioned Paul's warning in 2 Timothy 3:1-5. Let us now look at the letter to the church of Sardis in Revelation 3 in light of our focus on holiness (or, to put it another way, "praying that we're counted worthy to escape such things") because I believe it applies to this discussion.
It would be prudent to consider this letter for application in our present day.
Revelation 3:1-6 - - "And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead. Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God. Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee. Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy. He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches."
From this letter we learn that it is possible to be a believer in Jesus Christ, but to be found incomplete. The reference to some believers having unsoiled clothing and found worthy implies that others have soiled clothes, are incomplete, and therefore, unworthy of walking with the Lord. It is likely that soiled clothing is used as a metaphor for the unfinished business of putting sin out of our lives. May it be suggested for us the righteousness of Christ has not found its way into the fabric of our lives to holiness. From the letter we note when He comes, those found asleep and incomplete will be left behind.
Fascinating thought, isn't it? One that motivates us as well I'd say. See, the key thing throughout this study for all of us to remember is that THIS IS NOT A SALVATION ISSUE, BUT A RAPTURE ISSUE. I need to point that out because I know that there will be some who will write me to suggest I'm somehow saying that whether or not we're saved is determined by our works and how holy we are. That's NOT AT ALL what I'm saying here.
Again, this is a RAPTURE discussion and not a SALVATION discussion. I think this is a great place to stop for now since the last few paragraphs are an good introduction into the 3 Rapture Theory and how it's all tied to our level of holiness (the Rapture we get to "escape" in is determined by a faith and holiness component).
Yes, it's a revolutionary concept if you've never been exposed to this before. Like I said, there's no way I could possibly do this book justice by any review because there's simply too much ground to cover. I pray that these articles on this topic motivates you to at least look into the idea with an open mind because I think you'll reach a similar conclusion as I did.
In Part 3, we'll begin to look at these 3 Rapture events Lamb proposes.
Ok, so remember when I wrote recently that I believe something is definitely happening right now with God's church of true believers as He is pouring the revelation of often debated truths upon us as part of the "unsealing" and "increase in knowledge" prophecy spoken of in Daniel 12:4? Remember how I also went on to write that I believe it's our job is to prayerfully discern the truth and separate the fact from the fiction on a daily basis?
Well, these days it seems that barely an hour or two goes by before I begin to view things differently and see them in a whole new light! Case in point, that "All In A Day's Work" column gave what I believe is some strong evidence that the Rapture is not only an actual, physical event, but also one that would happen just prior to the beginning of the Tribulation (just before those first 3.5 years of the final 7 years known as Daniel's 70th Week).
In that entry, I also shared a wealth of Biblical analysis and information from the Christian Apostasy blog that seemed to suggest that our beliefs and faith determines whether or not we will be raptured (Pre-Trib), or whether or not we'll have to endure some (if not all) of the Tribulation and Great Tribulation. Again, one's level of faith in the context of this discussion is not a salvation issue, but what if it was a holiness and Rapture related issue? If "Brother D" and others like him who hold this view are correct, then what I'm about to present might actually be another missing piece to this whole Rapture puzzle.
Shortly after writing and publishing that column I began to think that there could very well be 3 distinct "Rapture-like" events perhaps in connection with the whole "three harvests" concept. First, let me be absolutely clear that the very last thing I want to do is sow even more controversy, discontent, and division amongst my fellow believers regarding an area of Bible prophecy that already has more than enough of all of that. However, I'm desperately trying to sort out all of this Rapture business myself mainly because I believe it's closer than it's ever been before. That being said, I still can't shake the fact that there are a few passages of Scripture that keep tossing me around from one particular position to another. There has to be a reason for that.
As always, my attempt here is to simply EXPLORE THE POSSIBILITY and to see if I can arrive at the real truth by doing so (I believe I have, but will let you make up your own mind as you prayerfully consider things). Our God is definitely working this out within my heart and soul, and I pray He grants me the discernment needed to not only understand His plans and His ways for us as soon as possible, but that He also puts me in a position where I can communicate my conclusions to all of you clearly and concisely.
Paul prophetically warned us the time would come when people would not put up with sound doctrine, but would gather teachers around them to say what their itching ears want to hear. He said they would turn from the truth and follow after myths (2 Timothy 4:3-4). This is why it's critical to study the Word for yourself on a daily basis. Don't ever just take another man's word for it (like me in this case).
The subject of a mysterious disappearance of Christian believers seems to be heightened in our day. While there are those who are amused at the subject for entertainment, others who have studied Church history say this is nothing more than a sine wave peak that has happened in the past and will happen again. Others, like me, believe more supernaturally that it is a movement of God in the Spirit to cause people to wake up and prepare themselves for the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.
In fact, take a look at nearly all of the Rapture related pieces I wrote since starting this blog:

When we add the recent catastrophic natural disasters, earthquakes, famines, global warming scenarios, economic woes, the threat of terrorism and war, the aggressive push for a New World Order, and the looming epidemics of various sorts around the world, there is a disturbing undercurrent that has caused a few Christians to become more serious and attentive. The culmination of all these things, combined with the intensifying events in the Middle East, has contributed all the more to this uneasiness. We are indeed living in a precarious timeframe on many different levels.
I was actually quite surprised to find that there is a lot of information out there on this "3 Raptures" scenario. In fact, I came across one book in particular called "Three Raptures: Exploring The Possibilities" by Ty S. Lamb (great last name isn't it?), which is the product of thorough research and study over a period of several years.
From this point forward I'll probably be quoting from his book verbatim because he does an excellent job of humbly positioning where he's coming from, how he went about this study, and how the Lord helped him put it all together for us to read and prayerfully consider. Most importantly, he writes: "The author of this book makes the appeal the Bible should be interpreted and adhered to as literally and scrupulously as possible."
Amen! That's precisely why I found it so difficult to punch holes through this theory because there's just so much Biblical evidence to back it up when you take the time to break it down and actually open your mind to the possibility. Plus, it is consistent with what we know about our Lord and His desire for us to pursue holiness in this life.
When most Christians have long embraced the traditional theology of just one Rapture, Lamb has written a thought provoking work proposing not one, not two, but three separate and distinct Raptures during the time commonly known as the Tribulation. I can see the scoffers already sitting down to feverishly type a rebuking response to me before even reading the rest of this column let alone the book for themselves before reaching any conclusions.
I will say that the author writes with a humble, transparent, convincing style, presenting his data with voluminous use of Scripture. This fresh, new work is one that is difficult to put down once you get past the first chapter. I believe serious thinking believers, who are walking with God, have much to anticipate as we come to the end of this Age of Grace and stand on the cusp of the Tribulation.
Surprisingly, unlike others of its kind, this book does not leave us hanging fearfully, as most end-times books might, but challenges us by giving us the necessary Scriptural guidelines to becoming the "Bride who has made herself ready." Without being dogmatic, Ty Lamb presents this theory with great humility, integrity, and passion for those of us stuck in the mud of last days, and media-hyped confusion as one reviewer put it.
My intent here is to share with you what I have learned so far from this book because so much is at stake (one that I'm sure I'll read over and over again as long as I'm still here). At the same time, I don't want to give too much away because I encourage you to take this journey for yourself like I did while you still can, read his theory, and see if it has the same glorious effect on you as it had on me.
From the opening portions of this book:
For many people, this study will challenge your former thinking and may bring you to a new place of understanding. I hope that at the very least this will generate new discussion among students of the Bible and students of Bible prophecy alike. I know it will be difficult for some who have deeply held convictions and teachings to think "outside the box" and consider a different approach. So, I need to ask of you what Lamb asks in his work, "Are we able to stretch the old wineskins of former thinking and consider something different?" Can we at least keep an open mind especially if there is Scriptural evidence to support such a position? I certainly hope so as there's no harm in that.
We should never be so frustrated (or set in our way of thinking I suppose) that we give up our thirst for clarity and understanding. All I can say is that I couldn’t settle for the confusion and unanswered questions lingering in my own heart. Some have coached over the years, “If there is confusion amid a situation, it cannot be God. God is not a God of confusion!” Even of greater consequence, we should never let our various interpretations cause division in the body of Christ. I get that. Our love for one another should not be compromised. Our fellowship with one another should never be broken.
There is no doubt that many believers struggle to accept the idea of a literal Rapture event. Furthermore, of those who do believe there are many who struggle to accept the various ideas about its timing along God's prophetic timeline. So, you are a Pre- or Mid-Tribber, or a Pre-Wrather. What if it could be explained another way?
With your permission, let’s venture into the absurd for a moment and risk the consideration there could be more than one Papture - - possibly three. Though the idea of multiple Raptures is not new, I have not seen any serious study on the subject until I came across one book on the subject that focused solely on this idea. Let us explore the possibility and see how things begin to develop both Scripturally and theologically. Then, perhaps most importantly, let us ponder the implications. Might we find better harmony of Scripture if we could identify more than one Rapture event?
Hopefully, you will see like I did that it is not only credible, it is...well let’s just say for now...it is within the Lord’s privilege to do so.
Some might argue to suggest multiple Rapture events would weaken the call for readiness and preparation on the part of the believer. You will see from this position you are about to read, it is quite the contrary. Hopefully, you will be disturbed beyond leisure reading and the Spirit of God will draw you to seek Him more passionately. It is time to dust off your Bible so you know what you believe with certainty. When chaos erupts around the world you need to understand what is happening on the Earth. You will need to take your stand with confidence.
The Church has been used to preaching to their congregants that if you miss the Rapture you’re too late and all hope is lost. We often think of the door of Noah’s Ark being slammed shut once and for all. Though it is a convincing argument, what if we discover that God has a broader objective in mind during the last days? What might this theory reveal about our Lord; that has been previously overlooked or misunderstood?
Be forewarned as we explore this theory some of the implications suggested are hard hitting, forceful, and convicting. I will write frankly and boldly about the present condition observed among many who believe they are in good standing with the Lord and are probably not. I also speak openly and honestly about trends seen in many churches that are culturally acceptable yet may not be hitting the mark Biblically.
You are encouraged to pause and pray each time you read this. This piece was not written for the simple sake of sharing information. I pray that this article on the book I've read about "Three Raptures" will cause you to stretch as I have been stretched.
Even if you are not prepared to accept a new concept, there is much to gain through reading this study. Ask the Holy Spirit to open your heart and mind so you can understand the Bible better, and ask how this might impact your life. Ask Him to help you learn and grow in your faith. Even more, ask Him for help to prepare you to meet God face to face. Lastly, regardless of your view, we must never be overly confident that we have discovered all there is to be found locked within His perfect Word (Proverbs 25:2-3; Matthew 13:52).
Lamb's reasoning and proof and good solid Scriptural evidence was enough to convince me of the possibility that this theory is valid because it's the only one that actually addresses why there is such a division within the Body of Christ over the issue of the Rapture. In a sense, it's because all views of it's timing are correct because there are 3 Raptures!
This is probably a good place to also point out that the key thing throughout this study for all of us to remember is that THIS IS NOT A SALVATION ISSUE, BUT A RAPTURE ISSUE. I need to point that out because I know that there will be some who will write me to suggest I'm somehow saying that whether or not we're saved is determined by our works and how holy we are. That's NOT AT ALL what I'm saying here. Again, this is a RAPTURE discussion and not a SALVATION discussion.
In Part 2, we'll set the stage for our study by asking ourselves some key questions first.

If you haven't read the piece titled "A Mountain Of Evidence" from earlier today please do so right away because this will give you goosebumps.
In it I shared an email exchange I had with another Brother in Christ who I believe had some interesting prophetic insight in regards to Isaiah 18.
Specifically, Isaiah 18:3 was one of the verses he highlighted:
Isaiah 18:3 -- "All you people of the world, you who live on the earth, when a banner is raised on the mountains, you will see it, and when a trumpet sounds, you will hear it." (emphasis mine)
Now, imagine my surprise when I log on tonight and see a story and image that is too perfectly aligned to this entire discussion.
The photo:
The headline: "Greenpeace Activists Arrested For Banner On Mount Rushmore"
On President Lincoln's face no less! Are you kidding me!?!
Look, I'm not exactly sure what this means (if anything), but how surreal is it that we just devoted some time this morning to the very verses that we interpreted as speaking of the end times, the Rapture, the Tribulation, the Ark -- and, of course, a "banner is raised on the mountains" -- and now we get this story???
Comments? Discernment? Insights? Thoughts?
Man, when does that trumpet blow?
Nice to see Pope Benedict playing his part in the race towards the beginning of the Tribulation and the fulfillment of end times prophecy.
Just as we suspected the other day HERE.

The Obama administration thinks big government is the way to go. But don't worry, they're all for the "little guy" remember?
They have created positions for "Czars" to oversee various functions of the federal government. The term "Czar" means "emperor" or "king". Would it be inappropriate to point out some prophetic verses of Scripture that come to mind?
Daniel 7:25 -- "And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time." (emphasis mine)
Revelation 17:12 -- "And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast." (emphasis mine)
Do you know how many Czars have been appointed by the Obama administration to date? 33. Congressional Democrats want another one to bring the grand total to 34. This new Czar would oversee Health Insurance. Maybe he/she will be the one to rule on whether or not Tylenol is classified as an illegal narcotic since it is a health related issue.
Here's the big problem with all of this. These "Czars" are being granted sweeping new powers and yet none of them have gone through a confirmation process! So, the Obama administration has already created 33 kings in the federal government with a 34th waiting in the wings. They don’t have to report to Congress or a Cabinet Secretary, but yet they have all this power.
Nice. That certainly sounds like the America I know and love.
Yes, this is "hope" and "change" -- for the worse!
