Human Cloning = Bad Idea

And the beat goes on. There's a disturbing trend within the scientific community these days and it stems from a messiah complex or, at the very least, a belief that if they can't actually become a god then perhaps they can emulate one instead.

Last week, scientists from around the world wanted to stake their claim to creation itself when they fired up
the CERN experiment in order to attempt to create the conditions that existed just prior to the "Big Bang" or the origin of life itself.

Having been able to carry out that pursuit without anyone (or any God) stopping them they now arrogantly have moved on to another realm where they don't belong - the human being.

That being said,
this morning we read that Australia issues the first license to clone human embryos. How much longer can the world thumb it's nose at our Lord without Him responding and stepping in to help save us from ourselves?

The sad part of all of this is that everything coming from those who authorized this sounds great. In other words, it's all politically correct. For instance, the Chair of the NHMRC's licensing committee, Dr John Findlay, said Sydney IVF's research would be closely monitored.

"They have been given a license to do therapeutic cloning," Findlay told Reuters, adding the scientists are not licensed to reach the fetal stage. They can go to the stage called blastocyst. They must stop at that point," he said.

The blastocyst is a very early-stage embryo not yet implanted into the womb. Findlay said scientists will try and create stem cells from patients who have abnormalities or create stem cell lines which will be compatible with patients which have given the cells. Initially, any stem cells extracted would be used to test new drugs to fight diseases such as muscular dystrophy and Huntington's disease, and later therapeutic cloning would be used to produce body tissue matched to patients.

They must think the world population is stupid (are we?) because anyone who casually followed the entire stem cell debate knows that the only scientific "successes" that have come from embryonic stem cells is the creation of tumors in lab rats. In fact, adult stem cells have had far greater success in not only lab tests, but most importantly in real-world applications - they've helped treat diseases and heal people on a large scale.

However, you'd never know that from the way the mainstream media covers this story. And why is that? Is there something more sinister at work here? You bet there is!

Just because an oversight committee says they will closely monitor the situation doesn't mean anything. Embryonic stem cells haven't proven successful in the lab or in the real-world so that leaves me with the only deduction I can make - if this law allows for human cloning, scientists are definitely going to experiment with human cloning.

I just wish someone would tell them that human cloning equals a very bad idea.

Lord come quickly! Keep looking up!
