Real-Time Global Disaster Alert Map

Here's an interesting resource that was brought to my attention on a message board today. It's a Global Disaster Alert Map that displays "disaster" events in real-time.


It's a global map with symbols representing the type of disasters that are going on or ones that have recently occured - volcanoes, earthquakes, hurricanes, biological and chemical hazards, complex disasters, etc.

It really gives a great picture of exactly what's happening all over the globe at the same time. Just mouse over the symbols, and it gives you the time, date, and type of disaster. Click on the symbol, and it routes to a page giving some information about the current disaster.

If you click on "Icon Description"(just below the map) it's the key to all of the Icons used on the map. Scroll down on the page, and it has listed all the current disasters in text format.

I imagine this is an example of a small portion of what God is in the midst of during every single second and minute of every single day. Too much for our little brains, but not too much for our all-knowing, all-powerful God!

IMPORTANT NOTE: While it's a very cool map, I personally must advise you not to sign up for the email alerts! Some people mentioned how they eagerly signed up for the "Event Alerts" some time ago and literally received 50 of them a day!!! Every time there was a car accident in somewhere they received an alert. Every time there was a fire they received an alert. So, if you sign-up, be prepared to get deluged with email pertaining to events that may not even rate important enough to be reported on your local 6:00 pm news.
