The big news from this past weekend as well as today involves the misfortunes of Lehman Brothers and Merrill Lynch. As a result, stocks continue to tumble amid this new Wall Street landscape.
Former Federal Reserve Chief Alan Greenspan characterizes this as the financial storm of the century. 
Meanwhile, we now have a top economist saying that Americans should worry about bank deposits especially if Congress doesn't act.
However, it was something else Alan Greenspan said that seemed rather prescient to me: "I can't believe we could have a once-in-a-century type of financial crisis without a significant impact on the real economy globally, and I think that indeed is what is in the process of occurring."
Lovely.
Personally, I think we will see a significant effect on the global economy that portends to become a significant global economic crisis - just the kind you'd expect to see in these end times.
I guess there's no escaping the inevitable at this point now is there? At least we have our faith in our Lord and Savior to carry us through whatever hardships are in store in the coming months.
As the economy weakens and financial markets continue to collapse, we are also beginning to hear news of rising gas costs as well as unprecedented heights in home heating costs this coming winter. Together, these realities could spell disaster especially at the individual and family level.
Yet, is it any wonder that this is where we find ourselves? My friends, open your eyes and recognize that EVERYTHING that's happening right now is not a mere coincidence!
We have wars and rumors of wars in many parts of the world, we have natural disasters occuring with increasing regularity and greater intensity, we have financial markets in distress, as well as political and moral corruption in many parts of the globe. Perhaps many of you have even begun to feel as though the devil knows his time is short as evidenced by the increase in spiritual attacks to you and/or your family and loved ones on a very personal level. I know I have lately.
Surely, the simple fact that all of this is happening AT THE SAME TIME - not to mention in complete conjunction with the U.S. and the world pushing peace and a two-state solution upon Israel or God's Holy Land by the end of 2008 - should give us all pause giving what prophecy tells us.
