Whether you're someone who has had an abortion, someone who has been affected by one, someone who's thinking about having one or, just someone who is concerned about the unborn there's no debating the fact that it is one of the most contentious issues ever facing the American public.
Regardless of your past as well as your current stance on the subject, we know for certain that it is wrong in the eyes of God.
If you're a Christian and you don't believe that with all your heart this column is for you. If you're a Christian who is against it personally, but you're ok with letting others have an abortion if they want to this article is for you.
Abprtion is one of the sure signs that we are the final generation for it is clear evidence that love has grown cold. Need more proof? It's mere existence as a viable "medical procedure" (I thought medicine was supposed to heal us and fix our bodies as needed; is an unborn baby a germ or a disease that our body needs healing from?) as well as the public's acceptance of it as just a necessary evil and something "we need to live with" because it's never going away should be all the proof we need to see how far we've fallen.
With the U.S. Presidential Election only 2 weeks away it's absolutely imperative that voters search their hearts on this issue of life and death. Specifically, today's entry is for the self-proclaimed Christians who are planning to cast a vote for Barack Obama.
Thirty-one years ago, Gianna Jessen's mom aborted her. After being burned alive for about 18 hours by the saline solution, Gianna was delivered alive in a Los Angeles County abortion clinic. She weighed just 2 pounds at birth, and doctors said she would never crawl or walk. Today, Gianna walks with a slight limp-and runs marathons. She's also taking on Senator Barack Obama on abortion. She recently visited Focus on the Family and spoke with Dr. James Dobson and Kim Trobee.
This remarkable woman has several important and inspiring things to say. Here's what I'm hoping the Barack Obama supporters reading this will consider:
In a TV ad, you challenge Senator Barack Obama over his repeated opposition to the Illinois Born Alive Infant Protection Act. In response, a new ad calls you a liar, sleazy and vile. How do you respond to that? The exact opposite response of what they’re expecting. It actually blesses me because I am God’s girl, and I know that if that is coming, then I am on the right road. It fires me up to be like Esther and to live in this time, for such a time as this.
If you could sit down with Senator Obama, what would you say to him? Do you think you could sway him? I’ve challenged him, and he won’t meet with me so far, but maybe one day he will. "Sir, why do you discard life so easily? I just want to know why. When did you decide that you had the right to determine who lives and who dies? You are not God." I think God could sway him. I think he’s frightened of me, really. The fact that I have cerebral palsy as a direct result of having survived an abortion is very convicting to people. I mean, that’s my sermon. If the Lord was sitting right in front of me and said, "G, ('cause that’s my nickname), do you want me to make you whole?" I would say, firstly, "I’m going to be whole when I get home. But, if you leave me this way, I have a sermon to preach without saying a word, and I’ll get to know you in a way I (would) never know you had I not been schooled in the school of adversity."
It seems many Christians are pushing the abortion issue to the back burner. Does that bother you? It’s cowardice (and) appalling. What a man thinks about the most vulnerable among us says everything about him. It will determine all of his other decisions. It’s cowardice on the part of Christians to run away from this because they want to be seen more relevant or less threatening, or whatever the motives may be. We need to fight for the most vulnerable.
I strongly urge you to take such things to the Lord in prayer before casting a vote for this man. If he was really against it then he wouldn't have voted the way that he did on the issue numerous times. That just doesn't make sense.
There is NOTHING Christian about someone who supports abortion - plain and simple. I'm sorry if that makes me "unpopular" or "old fashioned" or a "religious zealot" then so be it.
It's worth repeating - WHAT A MAN THINKS ABOUT THE MOST VULNERABLE AMONG US SAYS EVERYTHING ABOUT HIM. IT WILL DETERMINE ALL OF HIS OTHER DECISIONS.
Don't put morality and decency on the backburner just because you want to be a part of history-making on Election Day.
