The word "deceive" shows up in the Bible (King James Version) 27 times. Of those 27 instances, 13 were in the New Testament and 6 times it was Jesus Himself uttering the word as a warning to us about what to expect and be prepared for in this world we live in - at this very moment.
Simply put, we know that the end times will be saturated with deception. I suggest that we continue to receive clear signs all around us of just how much of a prominent role deception plays in our day-to-day lives in this day and age.
Case in point, let's take another look at the results from Election Day. Forget about the presidency, let's take a closer look at the other important races, which sadly proves that the American public is all talk, no action not to mention the fact that we have short-term memory issues.
Remember this news item from early October on the heels of the start of the financial crisis and the government's bailout plan? "3 in 5 Voters: Boot every Congressman" the headline read. Thus, 59% said they'd kick out all members of the House and Senate. In this October 5th story we found:
"If given the choice, a new poll reveals, 59 percent of Americans would sweep Capitol Hill clean of the current batch of senators and representatives to elect an entirely new Congress. Only 17 percent of voters polled said they would be willing to keep the current legislature."
If that's true, then perhaps someone can try to explain the following to me:
With the exception of 17 seats in the House and 5 in the U.S. Senate, voters put them all back into office on Tuesday! With the lowest approval rating in the history of the U.S. Congress, the American people once again rewarded these crooks by rehiring them! Quite a difference from what polls indicated.
In what kind of a Twilight Zone world where up-is-down, right-is-left, and black-is-white does this sort of thing happen with causing anyone to think twice about the outcome?
How do you explain these results unless a mass and widespread form of spiritual deception (just as Jesus had warned) was running rampant throughout this nation and going unchecked by many of us?
"And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draws near." Luke 21:28
Keep looking up!
