You gotta love Liberal Democrats. They are so quick to point the finger at Republicans with accusations of voter fraud, but have absolutely no qualms about attempting to steal the election themselves.
The exploits of ACORN have been well-documented by now, but today they're pulling out all the stops! It seems bribing for votes is an acceptable form of democracy.
Seattle based Starbucks is making fast changes - after being accused of breaking the law with an offer to voters.
Prior to Monday afternoon, Starbucks was promoting an ad that said anyone who enters any Starbucks location on Election Day and says that they voted, they would get a free cup of tall coffee.
Not to be outdone, both Krispy Kreme Doughnuts and Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream are also joining the party. There are also rumors that Chick-fil-A will also be giving away free food. Krispy Kreme Doughnuts is giving away star-shaped doughnuts and Ben & Jerry's is offering a free scoop of ice cream.
There's only one small problem. There is a federal statute that prohibits any reward for voting.
These "good deeds" can be perceived as paying someone to vote, and that’s illegal, since the way the law is written, it expressly prohibits giving any kind of gift. The intent of the statute is aimed at special interest groups or, companies like these, who try to influence who and how people vote.
It barely comes as a shock then to learn that the Founders of Ben & Jerry's endorse Barack Obama, and lent his Vermont campaign two "ObamaMobiles" that toured the state and gave away scoops of "Cherries for Change" ice cream. Likewise, Starbucks clearly has a history of promoting a liberal, progressive, pro-Democrat agenda.
So, this is hardly a neutral, bi-partisan offer and instead a blatant attempt by corporate America to mobilize their base on Election Day using tactics that are illegal and prohibited by federal law.
As always, if it hurts the Democrats it must be illegal. However, if it helps the Democrats then surely we can look the other way and make an exception.
