ABC News: We All Suffer From Mental Illness

So, this is how it starts? Religious persecution in America will be tolerated since we all suffer from a mental illness of some sort.

ABC News recently published a report on "Internet Conspiracies" and branded them all (including anyone who actually spends time online) wackos since "the Internet has always been a forum of fringe ideas," and they even openly asked, "Who are the people who believe such theories in the quiet of their homes, and what does such behavior mean for a person teetering on the edge of mental illness?"

At least they had the decency to include the comments from one doctor who cautioned that not everyone who believes in a conspiracy plot is mentally ill even if he said in the next breath that they just may be suggestible or just suspicious of authority.

Their primary focus was on one such "conspiracy" promoted by David Icke. Icke was a former journalist and BBC sports announcer. Icke was laughed out of the public eye in the early '90s when he started wearing only turquoise and explaining that voices had sent him on an important mission to save the earth.

Decades later, Icke has written books, has fans in 47 countries and can gather a crowd of 2,500 people in a city simply by posting a date for a lecture on his website.

I don't subscribe to his conspiracy theory at all, but I do admire his open, honest, humble approach, and also think he nails it here when he talks about the control and power that lies with the corporate media today:

"I knew about the mainstream media, and that the mainstream media has a stunning level of myopia so that only that which is in the mainstream will be presented. What the Internet has done [is that it] has allowed information to flow outside of the myopia. The Internet has been absolutely essential."

Plus, I will say that for a guy who is supposedly "crazy" he comes across as being pretty coherent and intelligent.

A sure sign that there may be a small kernel of truth in what he has to say (whether it's about his conspiracy or simply what he has to say about the world and the media), which then makes perfect sense as to why he would be viciously attacked in a high-profile piece by ABC News.

I can see how David Icke would be the perfect conspiracy theorist to declare all of them(conspiracy theorists) nuts. I watched his DVD From Prison to Paradise. His theory, which he discovered from decades of research (supposedly) is basically that for the last 3000+ years the Illuminati has controlled the affairs of governments and war and perpetrated all sorts of evil on mankind. The craziest part of his theory is that the power behind or rulers of the Illuminati and many rulers of country's are shape shifting reptilian space aliens (serpentine humanoids). What I found interesting is that if you keep in mind the Angel view of Gen.6, look up the definition of Seraphim in a bible dictionary (mine says fiery flying serpents) and remember that Satan that old serpent has conspired with his fallen angels (many probably Seraphim) for thousands of years to thwart the plan of God for man, then David's theory sounds kinda familiar.

Vince,

That is a little fascinating isn't it? Reminds me of the old TV series "V" where the "Aliens" that come to this planet looked like humans, but they were reptiles underneath their skin too.

JRed, I feel like I should have mentioned in my comment that I don't recommend David Icke's videos or website. His conspiracy theory is interesting and I do believe there is some truth in it but he is a New Ager who attacks Christianity in clever ways which could do harm to some Christians who are not strong in faith and could push someone who is agnostic into the new age or atheism. He uses the fact that Christmas and Easter evolved out of the pagan celebrations Yule-Tide and Ishtar to claim that Christianity evolved from sun worship ect. among other things. When in fact Constantine set the Christmas celebration on the same day the sun worshipers had their festival in an attempt to unify those opposing groups. That is a study by itself but if someone has no knowledge of the true origins of our holidays they could easily be misled by David Icke or those like him (Jordan Maxwell ect.). Vince.

Vince,

Oh, absolutely and I agree with you (and yes I did pick up on where you were going with your previous comments, but thanks for clarifying anyway for others).

The thing about Icke is how he comes across when he speaks as being so rational, level-headed, and "with it" to the point where you almost disregard the message and believe everything that comes out of his mouth b/c you trust him.

Thanks for the reminder to all of us about him and others like him.
