This is beyond belief.
Friends, we need to wake up and realize that we're well into the eleventh hour of humanity as the end times scenario continues to play itself out on the stage of human history. Our response? Many in the the world today simply sit and stare into space instead of shouting about our need for repentance, mercy, forgiveness, and salvation.
Sadly, I'm afraid that once people finally see the writing on the wall it will be too late for them. In our effort to win hearts and minds by planting seeds of faith that God will grow into a decision for Him please check out this headline that just came across the wire today, and then tell me if you still believe the end times are far into the future:
Rick Warren To Give Invocation At Obama Inauguration
Supposedly, Rick Warren is a pro-life "Christian" who is thought by many to be one of the world's great "religious leaders," and someone who deserves nothing less than our allegiance, praise, and support. In addition, many people wrongly believe that he is the one person who speaks for all Christians.
Here's a question I have. What kind of a Christian has absolutely no reservations - at all - about giving an invocation for a man who not only has a horrific political record when it comes to the issue of abortion, but one who has said repeatedly that his VERY FIRST ACT AS PRESIDENT will be to sign the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA) into law!?!
He made a promise to Planned Parenthood last year that they expect him to keep. Here's "The One" in his own words telling us what he believes on the issue of abortion.
Let's review. So, what exactly would implementation of the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA) mean for America? Simply put, FOCA would eliminate every restriction on abortion nationwide.
1. FOCA will do away with state laws on parental involvement, on partial birth abortion, and on all other protections.
2. FOCA will compel taxpayer funding of abortions.
3. FOCA will force faith-based hospitals and health care facilities to perform abortions.
Barack Obama believes this legislation will "end the culture wars." To him, "ending the culture wars" means eradicating every state and federal law on abortion -- laws that the majority of Americans support.
This is madness! What kind of a Christian lends his support to an administration like that? Oh right, I forgot, this kind of Christian.
Let's be honest. This doesn't sound like any Christian I know. Warren is definitely one of those prophesied wolves in sheep's clothing. What in the world is Rick Warren doing!?! He is doing a great disservice to this nation as well as the people and the Gospel that he claims to champion.
And what's the response from the media? Equally distasteful especially when you consider that applause is coming from the "Christian" media! Here's a taste from CBN:
"It makes a whole lot of sense. Even though Warren and Obama disagree on the life issue, they do see eye to eye on many social justice issues."
This is the problem with the contemporary Christian Church often referred to as "Churchianity" in many circles. This idea that Jesus Christ came to promote a social gospel rather than the life-saving, life-changing salvation Gospel is absurd!
Look, I'm not saying that we shouldn't be concerned about the social ills plaguing society, and that Christians shouldn't try to address these challenges head on as the salt and the light of the world.
However, what I am saying is that there's something SEVERELY WRONG when this becomes the Church's primary function rather than worshipping God a share His message of salvation with the world. It's just another sign of the times we live in.
The apostasy is here, and it's running wild! Just make sure you're not running with the pack and following a herd mentality.
Lord have mercy on us all! We're knee deep in spiritual deception and the apostasy. There's simply no way that things can be that far off now.

Thank you, thank you for seeing the dangers of Rick Warren's "flavor" of Christianity, JRed. I think we live in times that call for GREAT discernment, even - & especially perhaps - within the church. Look up the term "emergent" or "emerging" church and you'll see the infiltration that is...um, I would say coming, but it's already here.
I had never even heard of the emergent church until I had a personal, theology run-in with the pastor of the church my husband/I have been visiting for the last year. I just thank my God that we had not become members yet. Long story short, they were a quietly emergent church; they mixed it with seeker church, so it was VERY hard to see signs of something awry. Only when I warned their bookstore to take another look at The Shack by William P. Young (as in: yank it as fast as you can off the bookshelves) was their underlying theology revealed.
The book reeks of universalism, emergent beliefs, and putting man's very incorrect words into God's mouth; i.e., scripturally incorrect. I politely disagreed with the pastor who said it was a book on God's grace, cited why (again, firmly but gently on my part), and he basically referred to me as a rule-following "Pharisee," who had missed the point of God's grace, in his next sermon.
I was floored at his reaction and was left very shaken. Less so about his words to me, but rather on the troubling thought that I had been attending a church that was troubled in its foundation and had missed it for over a year. I know my Bible and had NEVER heard him say anything out-of-line in the pulpit before regarding the Scriptures; meaning I thought he was an excellent teacher. But, then, I didn't know what to look for either on emergent signs since I had never heard of it until all this.
I've watched him on TV several times since and now I see and hear the telltale signs...but only because I spent hours researching exactly what the "emergent church" is after the book incident. If you've never looked into it yourself? Someone I read aptly described it as trying to nail jello to the wall. They don't like to be defined, so it takes a bit of searching to see clearly what it's all about. But it's not good. In a capsule, it's: "less Word, more experience." As in, less of God's Truth and more of man's "truth" based in very loose and never-ending discussions that you enjoy as part of the journey; because it's not about the destination. Aayiyi...why they can't see that this is putting themselves above God (by diminishing Him), I don't know.
Anyway, sorry for the long comment; but I really think it's crucial for the Body of Christ to be aware of all this stuff; especially now, in our pivotal times. Bringing it all home, Rick Warren's name came up several times in my search of emergent churches. Check out the people he's resourcing/using in an upcoming event in Africa. I can't remember the name of the faith-based event, but he's in charge of the whole she-bang and there are some "out there" people he's choosing to work with, as in wacky religious beliefs & associations. Says a lot...doesn't surprise me at all about being a part of Obama's special day.
Let's keep a clear eye, Church, and look at all these things through God's eyes and teachings, not our own.
Tracy B.,
I'm so sorry that you had that type of experience, and I'm glad to hear that you were able to spot the error before it was too late.
Sadly, this is becoming the norm rather than the exception. Then again, this is end times prophecy being fulfilled before our very eyes. It's just sad to see so many well-meaning Christians led astray by what they think is the correct presentation of the Gospel. You nailed it - - it certainly is more style over substance.
My only personal experience with all of this was a recent one. My wife's aunt and uncle (the nicest people you'd ever meet, and VERY STRONG in their faith) belong to one of these meag-churches and their pop-psychology/social presentation of the Gospel. Well, a few weeks ago they invited us to go with them to a "seminar" one night for married couples. I'll admit that I approached the entire thing from a place of skepticism, but I was determined to go with an open mind, and desperately wanted the Church and it's leaders (and this seminar) to prove me wrong. Fat chance!
The whole thing barely had any Scriptural truth to any of it! Sure they mentioned God here and there, but I was shocked that whenever they were making points (making their case) and trying to help husbands and wives they cited "Christian scholars" and "Christian experts" rather than quoting from what the Bible plainly tells us about relationships, love, and marriage. The whole thing was maddening quite frankly!
So it goes with modern "Churchianity" as many of these small cities (mega-churches) have turned their Pastors into Pop Psychologists and Life Coaches, and that's not right.
What's deceptive about it all is that it mixes just enought truth of God's Word to tickle the ears, and make it all sound legit.
Anyways, I thank you for visiting and for sharing your very personal story with us. Also, check out Warren's Global P.E.A.C.E. Initiative for more proof of how far along we are into the apostasy.
YBIC,
Jeff (JRed)
