This is the case of a homosexual editorial that is putting the First Amendment on trial in Ohio. The bottom line is that a woman is suing after she was fired for saying being "gay" is not same as being black.
Crystal Dixon is suing the university where she worked for firing her over a privately written newspaper commentary expressing her Christian views on homosexuality.

The former Associate Vice President of Human Resources at the University of Toledo, was fired in May after she objected to an opinion article in the Toledo Free Press that compared striving for "gay rights" with the civil rights struggles of black Americans.
Dixon responded with a Free Press editorial of her own, written not in her capacity as a university employee but as a private citizen:
"As a Black woman, I take great umbrage at the notion that those choosing the homosexual lifestyle are 'civil rights victims.' Here's why. I cannot wake up tomorrow and not be a black woman. I am genetically and biologically a black woman and very pleased to be so as my Creator intended."
University of Toledo President Lloyd Jacobs immediately suspended Dixon and condemned her statements. Within days, Dixon was fired. So, in essence, she was fired for being a Christian. I wonder if the ACLU will rush to her defense on this one, but I'm not holding my breath. Instead, I'll hold her up with prayer.
The good news is that Supreme Court decisions remind us that the fact you are a public employee doesn't mean you give up your First Amendment rights. The majority of Dixon's column is about her personal views.
Robert A.J. Gagnon, the author of The Bible and Homosexual Practice: Texts and Hermeneutics and Homosexuality and The Bible: Two Views, said, "Ms. Dixon is absolutely right that sexual orientation is not akin to race or sex. Unlike a homosexual orientation, race and sex are 100 percent congenitally predetermined, cannot be fundamentally changed in their essence by cultural influences, and are not a primary or direct desire for behavior that is incompatible with embodied structures."
He's absolutely right. Christians are always attacked for being a bunch of knuckle-dragging, neanderthal, bigots who display their "insensitivity" and "intolerance" whenever we speak our minds on controversial issues. In fact, the past year has seen several serious legal attempts in this country to criminalize Christianity (including preaching on the topic of homosexuality from the Bible) by classifying our "unpopular" beliefs as hate crimes punishable by the law. However, as this story proves, it's rarely the Christians who live up to those labels, and instead often those who commit the accusation that fit that description.
Homosexuality/Gay Marriage is not a "civil rights" issue. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. has to be spinning in his grave about the issue of homosexuality being described as a civil rights issue. It's a choice of behavior, not something you have no control over like race or, like me being born with red-hair. There's no such thing as being born gay because there's absolutely no proof despite all the advances in science and all the discoveries in genetics.
It's also not an issue of "being fair" or "love" either. Therein lies the deception with the Left. They are masters at trying to frame a debate. I'm not quite sure when it was universally agreed upon to give them intellectual superiority on the issues and the freedom to do that, but it can be frustrating to say the least.
I don't know how it this got framed as a "civil rights" issue in the first place over the years, and it bothers me that now it's being framed as a "love" issue. The topic is homosexuality and gay marriage - not love. Of course, no one in their right mind would ever be against civil rights or love.
People in support of "gay rights" (especially Christians) need to remember what God has to say about it in His Holy Bible. Then, they need to think about the countless real-life stories from others who tell of once living a life as a homosexual, except now they are exclusively heterosexual because God freed them from their sinfulness.
As always, it's the truth that will set you free.
