What We're Praying/Talking About

Our faith in action, or our small contribution in trying to apply what we're taught in Hebrews 5-6 and James 2:17-26 for the benefit of our dear brothers and sisters within the Body of Christ...

Rick Warren: Fundamentalists Don't Listen

Thanks to the Watcher's Lamp blog for bringing this to my attention.

It's no secret that the Purpose Driven Life author and mega-church leader Rick Warren is promoting a "gospel" that is unbiblical. There have been many articles written over the years that have documented the reasons why.

Heck, sometimes you just need to go to the tape and watch what he says in his own words to prove your point:

Sadly, he's at it again. Recently, Rick Warren continued to publicly malign fellow Christians in this USA TODAY report about how the
Saddleback Founder Warren is driven to expand his reach:

“What I am not is a fundamentalist. You become a fundamentalist when you stop listening. There are all kinds of fundamentalists,” he says, listing Christian, Muslim, Jewish, atheist, even secular forms. “I don’t happen to agree with any of them.”

Thanks Rick. I must be deaf and dumb then.

The article surprisingly featured a quote from Dr. Michael Hortin. Horton, author of a new book, Christless Christianity, scoffs that Warren promotes “deeds, not creeds,” which makes the Professor of systematic theology at Westminster Seminary in Escondido, California, wonder,

“What’s the point of the Gospel? God didn’t become flesh and die on a cross for me to know I need to care about the environment or I need to look after my neighbor."

AMEN!

This is the problem with the contemporary Christian Church often referred to as "Churchianity" in many circles. This idea that Jesus Christ came to promote a social gospel rather than the life-saving, life-changing salvation Gospel is absurd!

Look, I'm not saying that we shouldn't be concerned about the social ills plaguing society, and that Christians shouldn't try to address these challenges head on. However, what I am saying is that there's something severely wrong when this becomes the Church's primary function rather than worshipping God a share His message of salvation with the world.

It's just another sign of the times we live in. The apostasy is here and it's running wild!
