What Is Going On Here!?!

Friends, we better seriously stop and look at what's going on all around us. More and more every day it seems as if our freedoms are eroding, and all we did is sit around and wave goodbye as they are taken away from us.

It used to be that these changes took time, and that they were done in secrecy behind closed doors of the Congress and Senate. However, it's becoming a disturbing trend to see such brazen things being done that violate the U.S. Constitution and threaten our freedom while we do nothing to protest such decisions and actions.

Does anyone else find today's news about the Pentagon deploying military troops on the streets of America a little unsettling? Interesting that the announcement is made only days after the Mumbai terrorist attacks while visions and flashbacks of 9/11 are fresh in our minds.


I guess we'll let the government do anything they want to in the name of "homeland security" and this is the latest example. The U.S. military expects to have 20,000 uniformed troops inside the United States by 2011 trained to help state and local officials respond to a nuclear terrorist attack or other domestic catastrophe, according to Pentagon officials.

Sure, on the surface it sounds great. I mean, who wouldn't want our government to protect us from future terrorist attacks and "domestic catastrophe" (of course, no details given by the Pentagon as to what they actually mean by that phrase). Still, it's not right not to mention that fact that it's illegal.

The Posse Comitatus Act, a 130-year-old federal law, clearly restricts the military's role in domestic law enforcement. And yet, it was back in September when we learned of the government's first violation of this federal law as military troops have been on the streets of America in some parts of the nation for the past two months now. A total of 4,700 troops to be exact.

Look, I'm not saying our government shouldn't prepare for the worst. I'm just asking that they prepare in a way that is legal and in accordance with our Constitution. I love this nation as much as anyone else, which is why I will shout to the Heavens about this gross misconduct until more people take notice.

Oh yeah, did I mention that this is yet another strange case of Synchronicity given this recent column I wrote?
