A Double Standard

Since today is the day that Congress will tally the votes from the Electors to ensure a Barack Obama presidency (the Supreme Court is still scheduled to meet for a third time to discuss his constitutional eligibility) I find myself in a political frame of mind.

That being said, I was reminded about another political controversy from last year around this same time. It is more evidence of the spiritual deception that exists within the nation's news media outlets across this country. The only difference is that the one I'm referring to wasn't based in facts, but was instead generated by the media to counter the unexpected popularity and growin interest in one Mike Huckabee during the primary season.

Just a year ago, he was in the midst of preparing for a surprising win in the Iowa caucuses. You may recall that a simple Christmas greeting that his campaign placed instead of a typical political ad became one of the more controversial ads of the entire 2008 campaign. It featured Huckabee simply giving a Christmas greeting while seated in front of a Christmas tree. Someone decided that there was a “dangerous” subliminal message in the background in the form of what is now the infamous “floating cross.” Here's the video of this "shocking" ad.



I even wrote an editorial about this bizarre treatment of a politician and his Christmas message to America, and still feel exactly the same way today about it all as I did back then.

Sure, it was early in the campaign season at the time, but clearly, the secular mainstream media felt threatened by the prospect of a third Republican administration, and so they did what they could to "warn" the public.

Ironically, the same mainstream media that gave Mike Huckabee a political back eye due to their perception of his blatant use of symbolism in the context of a political ad gave Barack Obama a political coronation due to their support of his own blatant use of symbolism (verbal and visual) throughout his campaign.

Quite a double standard that exists, huh?
