What We're Praying/Talking About

Our faith in action, or our small contribution in trying to apply what we're taught in Hebrews 5-6 and James 2:17-26 for the benefit of our dear brothers and sisters within the Body of Christ...

Inauguration Day 2009

Tomorrow is obviously an historic day for our nation as well as an historic day for many Americans on a personal and emotional level.

Even so, our goal here at Look Up Fellowship is to report the facts found in the news headlines of the day and connect them to what Bible prophecy has to say about the end times.

With that in mind, I'd be irresponsible if I didn't at least call attention to the things I've seen over the past few weeks leading up to tomorrow that give me cause for concern that perhaps this is merely foreshadowing of worse things to come for our nation.

First, thoughts on Rick Warren's involvement in the Inauguration courtesy of the
Slice Of Laodicea blog:

"Do we seriously think God is impressed with
these civil prayers offered up at the Inauguration? Is he hearing the prayers of an audience comprised of every belief under the sun, including atheists? Will God be moved if Rick Warren mouths the name of Jesus while asking for the blessing on America’s radical, pro-death President? What a farce this is. America resembles old Rome with its Pantheon (temple to all the gods). Rick Warren will intone a prayer asking God to bless the mess, and evangelicals will act as though it was a wonderful thing. God isn’t about bless America where the blood of 50 million infants soaks the soil, and a President with blood on his hands is being sworn in. To do so would go against everything in His character as revealed in the Bible. God is judging America, and the spiritual confusion sown by Rick Warren is part of that."

Proverbs 28:4 - - "They that forsake the law praise the wicked; But such as keep the law contend with them."

Somber, convicting, but accurate indeed. Precisely what we need to hear on this day especially those "Christians" who voted for Obama given all of his publicly stated positions (and voting record), which is in direct opposition to a Christian worldview.

Second, is there trouble in paradise? The Obama presidency isn't officially underway for another few hours, but questions about the administration's moral fiber certainly are, which certainly doesn't do much to generate optimism that this is the "hope and change" that many signed up for back in November.

President-Elect Barack Obama has been buffeted by a string of embarrassing jolts within the space of two weeks. What say the "Yes We Can!" Christians now?

After a brief interlude as the Secretary of Commerce nominee, New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson (D) withdrew his name after questions arose about business deals with the state of New Mexico. Richardson's embarrassing exit only expands the cloud over the Obama administration, which faced its first serious test after Governor Rod Blagojevich's seat-selling scandal in Illinois.

Obama and Senate Democrats were ultimately outmaneuvered by that disgraced Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich and Roland Burris, the man he chose to fill Obama's vacant Senate seat.

Soon after, and on a less consequential matter (but telling nonetheless), Obama also stumbled when he failed to notify incoming Senate Intelligence Committee Chairwoman Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., that he was about to name fellow Californian Leon Panetta (who had been President Bill Clinton's Budget Director and Chief of Staff after a long congressional career), to the job of CIA Director. Although popular and experienced as an administrator, Panetta lacked an intelligence background (is this really what we need during a time of war when their are many terrorists out there who want nothing else except to see us destroyed?), and the surprise selection put Feinstein in a difficult position.

Now, the disclosure that his choice for Treasury Secretary, New York Federal Reserve chief Timothy Geithner, failed to pay $34,000 in taxes and employed a housekeeper without proper immigration papers was another jarring distraction, and raises fresh questions about his team's judgment, vetting procedures, and political sensitivities.

The White House transition has given Americans some pause over the next President's vetting process for key leaders. Again, another reason why those of us who didn't vote for the man are probably feeling better than those who did.

Last but not least, we also have him belittling the Bible by giving an unrepentant "gay bishop" a prayer platform at tomorrow's ceremonies. That's odd. I thought he's a Christian?

Keep in mind, this all happened BEFORE Barack Obama has even served a single day in office as President. I think we already know what the state of the Union is before he even gives his first State of the Union Address.

Maranatha - - Lord come quickly!!!
