America's Destiny Found In Isaiah 18?

Does Isaiah 18 Actually Refer To The America?

America is in Bible prophecy after all. According to some, Isaiah 18 warns of the destruction of America by attackers from a land in the region of Iran, Pakistan, or southern Asia.

Well, that would make perfect sense wouldn't it? I mean, we're now seeing unprecedented political unrest in all three places right now.

Please allow me to share what I found on the website
Isaiah 18 And The Future Of America:

America Is In Prophecy
America is in Bible prophecy. Isaiah 18 warns of the destruction of America by attackers from a land in the region of Iran, Pakistan or southern Asia. This is the reason America does not show up in prophecy during the last seven years before Jesus returns. That is why this powerful nation isn't mentioned during the Tribulation. God through his prophet Isaiah gives us clues as to what is yet to happen. Isaiah chapter 18 discusses more than one nation. Study each verse carefully. It prophesies the destruction of a country which can only be America. What people want is peace and safety. What they will really get is the opposite. You need to know and understand what is to come.

Read Isaiah 18 Completely
It is important to read Isaiah chapter 18 completely, first. Most people make the mistake of reading through the chapter too quickly. Is it possible they are not paying attention because it is talking about a country they are not concerned about? Perhaps you are a scholar who wants to see everything fulfilled in the past so you can explain it. Please take another look.

There Are Four Countries Not One
Isaiah 18 was given to Israel first. It is written for their perspective. Woe or great sorrow is declared for a second country "shadowing with wings" which sends its messengers to destroy another. A third country named Cush is given as a reference. Cush, or Ethiopia as some believe, is not the country which is destroyed. The Bible says woe to the third country but the destruction found in verses four through six is for a fourth country which is not named but instead described.

America Is The Main Country
Isaiah 18 focuses on a nation which is a "scattered and peeled", a people terrible from their beginning hitherto; a nation meting out and trodding down, whose land the rivers divide. If we consider how the passage applies to all of the countries since the days of Isaiah we will see that only America fits the description.

Messengers Attack America
What is the purpose of mentioning the second country to the reader? As it turns out, the land beyond the rivers of Cush is the source from where the destroyers come. It sends messengers to destroy another nation. It will have great woe or sorrow itself but it is not the object of destruction. The existence of the messengers gives us a clue as to what happens.

The Attack Happens In The Future
It is easy to believe a prophecy that has already been fulfilled in the past but it takes faith to believe in one in the future. The scholars who say Isaiah 18 was fulfilled in the past have rushed to judgment. Do not try to force a prophecy to fit an event. Examine whether an event fits the prophecy. No event in history fulfills this prophecy. It is yet to come.

America Brings A Present To The Lord
When the disaster is over the fourth country will bring a present to the Lord in Jerusalem. What is the present? The Bible does not say here. Is it gold, silver, or money? Is it a religious relic or artifact? What really matters to God? It would be nice to know. It is important enough to be mentioned in the Bible.

Who Is The Land Of Cush?
Who is the land of Cush? Is Cush really Ethiopia? What do the scholars and historians say? Are they really right? The scholars and historians contradict what the Bible has to say. Who are you going to believe? The identity of Cush gives us clues as to what will happen. It does make a difference.

From Where Do The Messengers Come?
We cannot be sure where the third country is. There are many countries beyond the rivers of Cush such as Iran or Pakistan If we knew where this country was we might be able to stop some of its agents. We would understand better why and when they would strike. If the fulfillment of this chapter was in the near future we would expect to see a country preparing for war.

Avoid the Tragedy
We do not know how far this event is in the future. Not everyone alive today will be alive when this catastrophe will be set into motion. If you are alive then you will certainly want to avoid it. If you are not in America you will escape this devastation. If you are in a city that is not attacked you may evade the enemy's envoys. Still, there is a better way.

We Can Still Save Some Lives
There will be too many dead to bury or the bodies will left for the birds for some reason. While the death toll in Isaiah 18 appears to be a large amount, we do not know the exact figures or even have an approximate guess. We do not know the exact targets. Many can be saved if we stop even one of the messengers. The best time to act is now.

What is Going to Happen?
Isaiah 18:4 -- "For so the LORD said unto me, I will take my rest, and I will consider in my dwelling place like a clear heat upon herbs, and like a cloud of dew in the heat of harvest."

A period of time is coming referred to as the tribulation or the time of Jacob’s trouble (Matthew 24:21, 29, Mark 13:24, Revelation 7:14, Jeremiah 30:7). God will not intervene to the good of mankind but instead allow bad things to happen on a large scale. In this chapter something bad happens. What it is we can not exactly say but "clear heat upon herbs, and like a cloud of dew in the heat of harvest" is not presented as a good thing. What is a "cloud of dew in the heat of harvest"? Well, that could be a monsoon rain. It could also be the mist of a chemical weapon. Radiation is a clear heat and in excess produces clouds.

Isaiah 18:6 -- "They shall be left together unto the fowls of the mountains, and to the beasts of the earth: and the fowls shall summer upon them, and all the beasts of the earth shall winter upon them."

This describes the result of the destruction. There will be so many dead that the dead cannot be buried. The timing is also shown by the birds feeding off of the bodies in the summer and the beasts feeding in the winter. This is not an event with thousands dead. The toll would have to be in the millions. When it is done, so many are dead that they will not all be buried.

How Will This Happen?
When God does not step in to stop people from destroying themselves or others what do they do? When God rests at this time, evil men will be free to do what they want. Going back to verse two, what do we find? The third country sends its "ambassadors" to America. It should be no surprise that a nation that lets its guard down would be vulnerable to attack. The borders of America are weaker than ever before with even the top levels of government refusing to defend the country.

Isaiah 18:2 -- "That sendeth ambassadors by the sea, even in vessels of bulrushes upon the waters, saying, Go, ye swift messengers, to a nation scattered and peeled, to a people terrible from their beginning hitherto; a nation meted out and trodden down, whose land the rivers have spoiled!"

Substituting America for the nation this verse would read, "That sendeth ambassadors by the sea, even in vessels of bulrushes upon the waters, saying, Go, ye swift messengers, to America". This is the agent for its destruction. While God is resting, these messengers bring swift destruction upon America that is described in verse 4.

The Destruction In Isaiah 18 Happens In The Future
Isaiah 18:3 -- "All ye inhabitants of the world, and dwellers on the earth, see ye, when he lifteth up an ensign on the mountains; and when he bloweth a trumpet, hear ye."

When Will This Happen? When has the whole world ever seen and heard something? It has not done so yet. It is not clear what the ensign is in verse 3 neither is the sounding of the trumpet clearly identified. This has not happened to date but for the whole world to see and hear it will have to be significant. There are only a few things of great significance that might happen before the rapture. One is the destruction of Damascus in the previous chapter; Isaiah 17. Also, if the invasion of Israel described in Ezekiel 38 and 39 came before the Rapture it would be significant. In addition, when the anti-Christ signs or confirms a covenant with many as mentioned in Daniel 9:27 it will be globally seen and heard. There may be more but not a lot more. Of the coming great and dreadful things to happen, the rapture is the event we know of that is best described by this. Jesus was a sign or ensign to the nations. We, as his followers, are an ensign to the world. We will be lifted up to Heaven? The word used for lifted up is nasa (naw-saw’) (Strong’s word 5375), which is a primitive root; meaning to lift, in a great variety of applications, literal and figurative, absol. and rel. (as follows):--accept, advance, arise, (able to, (armor), suffer to) bear(-er, up), bring (forth), burn, carry (away), cast, contain, desire, ease, exact, exalt (self), extol, fetch, forgive, furnish, further, give, go on, help, high, hold up, honorable (+ man), lade, lay, lift (self) up, lofty, marry, magnify, X needs, obtain, pardon, raise (up), receive, regard, respect, set (up), spare, stir up, + swear, take (away, up), X utterly, wear, yield. We are not forgiven or pardoned at the Rapture, but the last generation will be Raptured because they are forgiven. Christians will be lifted up and fetched.

A trumpet will sound for the whole world to hear. When this prophecy was given, trumpets were used for several things. One was to gather the congregation together (Numbers 10:7). When the Rapture comes, the congregation will be gathered. In the parable of the ten virgins in Matthew 25 the cry at midnight said, "Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him." All the virgins heard the cry. Five virgins were prepared and were accepted. Five were foolish and when they came later they were told, "Verily I say unto you, I know you not." Jesus will say "I know you not" to the unbelievers. The five foolish virgins were unbelievers. They heard the cry at midnight as well. When the Rapture comes as a thief in the night, all of the world will hear about it. While I cannot say for sure, verse three appears to mark the Rapture as the time when this event happens.

Isaiah 18:5 -- "For afore the harvest, when the bud is perfect, and the sour grape is ripening in the flower, he shall both cut off the sprigs with pruning hooks, and take away and cut down the branches."

In the northern hemisphere grapes blossom around April. The harvest occurs around the last two weeks of September and the first two weeks of October. Some years it comes earlier. Sometime during this period Isaiah 18 will be fulfilled. This could refer to the Rapture occurring at this time. The vine and branches that Jesus mentioned at the last supper refer to Jesus and his followers who are removed from the world at the Rapture.

John 15:1-6 -- "I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned."

Romans 11 shows that unbelievers were pruned off and the Christian believers were grafted in. When the rapture occurs the vine will be cut off from the world.

America Brings A Present To The Lord
Isaiah 18:7 -- "In that time shall the present be brought unto the LORD of hosts of a people scattered and peeled, and from a people terrible from their beginning hitherto; a nation meted out and trodden under foot, whose land the rivers have spoiled, to the place of the name of the LORD of hosts, the mount Zion."

What is the present? The Bible does not say here. It would be nice to know. One possibility is that the present is gold, silver or materials to build the third temple in Jerusalem. It could also represent all of the Jewish people living in America. They are worth infinitely more than gold and silver. There is no greater present that you can give to God other than yourself. Consider the parable Jesus told in Luke 15.

The father waited anxiously for his son and wished every day for him to come back home. What about Joseph and Mary? Following the birth of Jesus, Luke 2:22 says, "And when the days of her purification according to the law of Moses were accomplished, they brought him to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord;" Joseph and Mary presented Jesus unto the Lord (God the father) in Jerusalem. Other than their own lives, this was the greatest gifts they could give. God doesn't need our gold, he wants us to return to him. If millions of Jews returned to Israel it would be a great present unto the Lord and worth more than all the gold and silver in the world. Isaiah 33:6 tells us "the fear of the LORD is his treasure". We need not just a great physical Aliyah (a going up referring to immigration to the land of Israel) but a great spiritual one.

I've seen quite a few bible scholars claim that the 5 foolish virgins are not believers and are therefore sent into the rapture.

I've been reading a study on the kingdom of heaven and it has further solidified my thoughts on the subject.

first, Christ would never give an unbeliever the title "virgin". A virgin is pure and our purity is imputed to us by faith in Jesus as the Messiah. He sees them as pure but also foolish so they are not allowed into the wedding feast.

Paul put it this way... sort of.

He said, all who believe will be at the bema seat for judgement. If we have borne spiritual fruit we will be rewarded. If we've borne no fruit or fleshly fruit we will suffer loss but we are still saved.

If someone can lose his/her justification then did not Christ die in vain? If we who believe bear no fruit we will suffer for it.

I think something has been lost by the people that say you can lose your salvation or if you've lived foolishly then you weren't saved. It assumes that as believers we must all "do the same things".

I was wondering "why don't I do all of the wonderful things other believers do". Well for one thing, I was in sin and useless to the Lord. However, after His call of repentence to me I started seeing this lack of fruit. And seeking desperately a way to bear fruit. except, apart from Him we can bare no fruit. I was perplexed.

Then I read John again. At the end of John, Peter asks Jesus "what will John do for you?"

Meaning, Lord you've asked me to feed your sheep but what about John.

Jesus basically told him it was none of his business. Peter, you follow me and I'll take care of John.

I think He's still saying the same thing. Warren it doesn't matter what they are doing, you follow me.

... any who.

It really irks me when people who should no better say that the foolish were never saved. They remind me of the prodigals brother who was very upset that his brother was receiving such a welcome. I think if the older brother realized that the younger had all ready spent his inheritance he wouldn't have been so upset but perhaps he would've mourned for his little brother. Incidentally, there was a feast for the younger brother but it required confession, repentance and obedience.

Our Lord is still forgiving sinners and sanctifying believers.

God bless

warren,
very insightful. i was feeling that way myself a few yrs ago...where's my fruit?but if you are not wholly given to Him, of course you will not bear any.

man, I wish believers would read St. Paul, and realize much of what jesus said was to other people in a different dispensation; Notice Jesus does verify St, Paul's teaching about Eternal Security:
Those that the Father gives to Me I shall keep.
St. Paul says: (i.e. to believers)
"And now,ye are predestined to conform to the image of Christ Jesus.''
So, Dear Satan, get off the cursing and damning of Jesus' people.
the false Gospel works so hard to make people question the integrity of Jesus' Work IN US.
