What We're Praying/Talking About

Our faith in action, or our small contribution in trying to apply what we're taught in Hebrews 5-6 and James 2:17-26 for the benefit of our dear brothers and sisters within the Body of Christ...

Daily Bread - 2 Samuel 14:14

We know that Scripture nourishes human understanding. The Holy Bible uses an organic metaphor to describe God’s intention. It likens God’s Word to water that nourishes a seed enabling it to sprout and grow. This is a "living metaphor". It compares the process of growth in nature with the process of growing in faith and understanding. It shows us that a mature faith is not static. It grows!

2 Timothy 3:16 -- "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:"

Today's daily bread is
2 Samuel 14:14.

2 Samuel 14:14 -- "Like water spilled on the ground, which cannot be recovered, so we must die. But God does not take away life; instead, he devises ways so that a banished person may not remain estranged from him." (NIV)

Don't you just love this verse? All I want to do is share some of the different comments I found online about it before wrapping it up with my succinct thoughts.

"We shall certainly die, both thou, O king, who art therefore obliged to take care of thy successor, Absalom; and Absalom, who, if he do not die by the hand of justice, must shortly die by the necessity of nature: and Amnon too must have died in the common way of all flesh, if Absalom had not cut him off. Respect - So far as to exempt him from this common law of dying. Not expelled - He hath given laws to this purpose, that the man - slayer who is banished should not always continue in banishment, but upon the High - priest's death return to his own city."

"We may notice here, how this widow pleads God's mercy, and his clemency toward poor guilty sinners. The state of sinners is a state of banishment from God. God pardons none to the dishonour of his law and justice, nor any who are impenitent; nor to the encouragement of crimes, or the hurt of others."

"God has often provided ways (as sanctuaries) to save them, whom man judges worthy of death."

Beautiful, isn't it? This verse typically overwhelms the reader with the reality of God's grace and mercy. At least that's how it has always affected me.

If there are other people like me out there who are (or were) struggling with a sin condition and feel that there is no way back may this verse give you comfort.

God never gives up on His children.

Jred,
Good Word. I continue to lift your family up in prayers. In fact, the less you post the more I pray. Dear God, deliver us from the enemy. May you and your family be blessed.

Dear Look up fellowship,
I am a regular reader. Al though I don't agree with every thing on the site I enjoy reading the comments and different views. I was part of the prayers and comments during Jeffs need for his wife. I my self suffer from Post trumatic stress dissorder. I know firts had the battle of depression and anxiety. For me prayer and reading the word of God is better than any medication. I know the Power of prayer and fasting!
I am seeking prayer for my husband Shawn. He is 42 years old and a father of three young daughters. He has a mass on his colon and will have surgery on Weds. WE have not gotten the pathology report back yet so of course we are scared. I am very strong in my faith and have been the spiritual leader in our house hold. I am wittnessing the Lord change my husband in front of my eyes. I have been able to share the word of God with him and express to him this is the time to call on the Lord. Please keep us in your prayers. God Bless, Sister in Christ Susan

Susan
Praying and asking the Lord to lift you both up at this time.
Father, I ask you to remove all fear and replace it with peace. Trusting in only you for our healing. In the name of our savior Jesus. Amen
