As promised, I wanted to give you all a quick update on the status of my wife's health following the last 2 weeks during which we've been struggling with her relapse with severe depression.
First and foremost, she wanted me to personally thank each and every one of you for taking the time to reach out, write a comment, and of course to pray for her healing, recovery, and well-being. Many of the comments that people wrote were very encouraging to her and it helped her to know that she wasn't the only person who has ever experienced such things.
Of course, when things are "normal" you know that's the case, but when you're in the midst of such a horrible disease you can't think straight and logic goes right out the window. Case in point, she felt like no one loved her and that she didn't have any love for anyone else either despite the fact that the evidence to the contrary was all around her. The Subtle Serpent, master of deceit and lies, was definitely present in all of this.
In any event, as it turns out, the first medicine they gave her actually ended up making her worse. At first, you could barely notice it as she seemed the same and felt the same (she didn't feel like she was getting better, she didn't feel like she was getting any worse). However, suddenly around day 6 or 7 on that medicine, she had one of the worst nights of her life!
The "fiery darts" in the form of racing thoughts, worries, and feelings of hopelessness and despair ruled her to the point where she was literally in tears for hours on end until the morning and the promise of a new day arrived.
Fortunately, the next day was her appointment with her doctor and the doctor knew right away that she was on the wrong medicine because it was, in fact, making her worse. Remarkably, the very next medicine they prescribed for her worked almost instantly! Within 24 hours, she was a completely different person and back to her old self! Praise God!
She knows she has God and all of you and your prayers to thank for her turnaround. One major positive to come out of this dark episode was that she said to me the other day that she doesn't remember a time in her life (even during previous bouts with depression) when she's prayed or read the Bible as much as she has these past 2 weeks. Praise God!
Again, I want to personally thank each and every one of you who lifted us both up in prayer. It truly means a lot to us that people we've never met or spoken to care enough to devote their own time and energy to trying to help us in our time of need.
When people ask us what makes Christians so different from others it's these types of experiences that we will always point to -- the Body of Christ encouraging and praying for one another whenever it's needed most.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Hope to meet you all in the air one day very soon.

I praise God with all my heart for His loving care for your wife. It is a uplifting testamony to me that we just need to seek the Lord in His word and prayer and go to the body of believers to stand with us in times of need. Many blessings to both of you.

I hate to say it but your wife needs to ween herself off of all meds. Especially the mind altering pills. After the birth of my first child, I went into a severe postpartem depression. They prescribed Prozac. At the end of the first month I tried to commit suicide. After that episode I threw out all medicines. After 2 days I immediately got better. I promised God that I would never trust man's solution to what I believe was a spiritual attack on a new mother. I do not trust any pills that doctors push on people. The sad thing about what is happening to your wife is very common. I know a lot of women on Prozac. I too chose the quick fix to how I was feeling. If I only had patience and less pressure to do it all than I could of handled the flux of my hormones and the chemical imbalance. Past women didn't have the kinds of access to drugs that we have. It took time for some and they just had to deal with it. They had help(family & friends). We are a instant gratification society and things go by fast. We don't want to take the time to heal (HMO's kick you out of the hospital after day 1 of surgery). Today I'm in my 40's and struggling with early shutdown of my ovaries. My energy and mood are a constant battle to deal with. Sometimes I just want to stay in bed all day long. I get up and face the day knowing that God is with me and the joy of the Lord is my strength. Please dont be offended by what I have to say. Please pray earnestly about the path that you should take with your own health. I just feel that too much emphasis put on popping a pill if your depressed, incontinent, sexually challenged, having your period, etc, etc,. These are normal occurances of the human body which God wants us to address through him and a proper diet. Just a thought from a 40 year old women who was just told she has a 60 year old body.
Praise the Lord! He hears our cry and answers us.
That is good news, indeed!

Hallelujah! this is wonderful news. Christians really do care about each other, even though we're strangers, because we all love our Lord. Indeed, we truly are the Body of Christ!
Praise God!
I trust you and your wife to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit on this journey. Sometimes we need medication. I trust God to heal your wife in every area of her life. It is not until we walk through it that we gain understanding. We are children of the MOST HIGH, royalty, loved, and cherished. When in doubt, look to the cross. Keep overcoming. I really enjoy this site. Take care.
Jeff, Praise God for answered prayer! I had no doubt that God would lift your wife up. After all, she is a child of the King.
I'm going to keep her on my prayer list and continue lifting her up each day. Like "Anonymous" I am concerned about these drugs. My husband is a Special Ed teacher and we have studied this in great depth. In many cases the cure may be worse than the disease. I will pray that the real cause can be identified and that she can get off the drugs (also very difficult and dangerous with some of these).
She will stay on my prayer list. Keep us posted.
as i was praying this morning for you, Lindsay and your children, i got the impression that this would be the last prayer needed. i have no idea why that thought came to me.
but i am glad to hear Lindsay is doing better.
