What We're Praying/Talking About

Our faith in action, or our small contribution in trying to apply what we're taught in Hebrews 5-6 and James 2:17-26 for the benefit of our dear brothers and sisters within the Body of Christ...

Message To America?

Is this Hollywood's warning to the United States perhaps?

I recently remembered the content of the film V For Vendetta, and realized that it deserved a mention here given all of our other looks at Hollywood's mass conditioning projects.

In my research, I stumbled upon the following video that uses that film for inspiration:

V's Message For The U.S.A (direct link for those who can't view embedded video)

I have to admit that after seeing that, this was the first time it dawned on me that perhaps this growing sentiment of social unrest precipitated by political corruption is exactly what Satan wants. It was also the first time I had viewed a film related to this "the-people-need-to-rise-up" meme that left me feeling a bit uncomfortable. I'm sure that had to do with some of the comments that elevated the individual to the status of demi-god, or master of his/her own destiny, with absolutely no mention of God. Makes sense.

Still, this short video got me thinking about this entire debate and the current political climate in this country in a way I hadn't thought about it to this point. In a sense, things are going according to the pre-determined script so to speak. The question is whether or not the good Lord has decided to allow Satan's plans to come to fruition this time around; whether or not the time of Daniel's 70th Week is at hand. I believe that it is.

Actually, we know that it is because of the multitude of signs all around us to suggest that logical conclusion. In addition, we know that this is also what Satan wants (political and social unrest in as many different places around the world as possible) because he needs a world in disarray and disorder before the Antichrist can rise to power and establish a New World Order (a.k.a. the prophesied One World Government) to fulfill his own misguided prophecy involving "order out of chaos", right?

I guess my point to all of this is that for anyone who thinks that Christians have no business reporting on and writing about such things ("Why spend so much time trying to expose the enemy?" they ask) I would counter that this is precisely one function (notice I said it's only "one function") of an end times prophetic ministry.

By shining the light of truth on the darkness of deceit wherever it may be found, perhaps we can expose the real truth of reality to people, and stimulate them enough to want to wake up, seek more truth, and make a decision for Jesus Christ before it's too late since they now know that prophecy is unfolding all around them at a quickening pace. At the same time, it's important to balance all of this with sound doctrine and a sound spirit.

What do I mean by that? That we need to rest in the Lord and cling to His Word more than ever before. You know, if I'm being completely transparent here, then you need to know that lately I've been changing my tune a bit on all of this. Let me explain.

Yes, I want to point to all the chaos and deception that exists and use it to prove to the skeptics (as well as to the Christians who don't study prophecy) that they can trust the Bible and it's prophecies about these last days and what's coming. There's always been a small part of me that wants to stand up for truth and justice and defend and protect my family especially when things get rough (assuming we're still here). I don't think there's anything wrong with that. That's what a Christian, man, husband, father, citizen is supposed to do. Right?

However, where I've been "changing my tune a bit on all of this" is in regards to what our response should be in the face of such tribulation. I'd say I'm a little conflicted at the moment. Sure, I recognize the need to stand up for righteousness and truth especially when tyranny runs rampant, but to what end? There seems to be an extremely fine line and a delicate balancing act that one needs to maintain. I was thrilled to see that
New Wineskins had something to say about this very same subject the other day (proof that the Holy Spirit is preparing the Bride?), and I strongly encourage you all to read it. I don't think either of us is suggesting that faith and waiting on the Lord means you become irresponsible and physically inactive and/or unresponsive in the face of pure evil. But again, it also doesn't mean you take full control of matters into your own hands either, leaving God completely on the sidelines. There just seems to be a balancing act that's required of us here.

Of course, prayer and repentance is key. I long to be like the famous men and women of the Bible who were such prayer warriors in the sense that they knew exactly how to pray, when, and for how long in the face of uncertain odds. I'm not saying I don't employ those tactics each and every day myself already, but I have to admit that I've always felt like I could learn how to "pray better" so that I can utilize that spiritual weapon properly. Does that make sense?

I think ultraguy nailed it when he wrote the following:

In a well-known passage with particular meaning for me (Isaiah 40:31) we read, in the ESV: “but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”

In Psalm 37:9, we’re advised: “For the evildoers shall be cut off, but those who wait for the Lord shall inherit the land.” and later in that chapter, in verse 34, “Wait for the Lord and keep his way, and he will exalt you to inherit the land; you will look on when the wicked are cut off.”

And in Psalm 27:14, we’re told, “Wait for the Lord ; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!“ It’s a command, stated twice for emphasis.

One of the usages I find most germane, but also difficult in the current political climate of growing distrust in secular government and elected leaders is found in Proverbs 20:22: “Do not say, ‘I will repay evil’; wait for the Lord , and he will deliver you.”

It’s tough because, for those who are God-centered (and even for many who aren’t but who have an innate, God-given sense of justice they ache to see fulfilled) there’s this tension between waiting (and trusting) that God’s justice will prevail in His time and His way… and taking action to hurry it along. Am I being called, we might ask ourselves, like the founders of this country sensed they were, to loose the chains of tyranny and protest in the streets… or does God have greater things in store for which we ought rather to pray and wait with eager, even joyful expectation?

It’s a balancing act as old as humanity. The Bible is filled with men (and women) who got impatient and ended up mucking things up both for themselves and for those around them. In fact that impatience seems characteristic of the big men (and some women) in the Bible, both good and bad: Adam, Abraham, David, etc.

When the source of injustice and tyranny seems to increasingly personify evil itself, the waiting for God to act gets even harder, even as it becomes more essential. Yet we must. Even when things slide over into outright blasphemy.

There are some good follow-up comments from people to that column there. Some mentioned World War II, and ultraguy was quick to point out the role that fervent prayer played during those tumultuous times.

I think that's the point for us here today. There seems to be this growing shout from the Holy Spirit to learn how to put on the whole armor of God properly, to learn what the spiritual weapons of warfare are, and to learn how to use them properly because in the days and weeks ahead it may be all we have to rely on. That can't be a coincidence. I, for one, am listening and will respond in obedience.

It will be interesting to see how the Lord works this one out within my own life. I mean, I keep thinking about that famous joke, which really isn't all that funny come to think of it. It's about a guy who’s stuck on his roof during a major flood in his town. He prays for God to deliver him. A few minutes later, someone shows up in a life boat and asks if he wants to come on board. The man says no because he’s waiting for God to save him and he continues to pray. The water rises. A few minutes later, a helicopter comes by and offers to pluck him off the roof. The man declines, saying he’s waiting for God to save him. The water rises. As he proceeds to say another prayer the water rises to the point where it overtakes him and he drowns! When he arrives in Heaven he asks God why he didn’t answer his prayers and save him from dying in the flood. God asks him why he never accepted the answer to his prayers in the form of the life boat or the helicopter!

See, there's the delicate balancing act along this fine line I mentioned between trusting the Lord and taking matters into your own hands. How appropriate is that in this day and age? All food for thought and I'm sure we'll be revisiting this topic once more very soon. Still, I can shake one verse in particular!

Proverbs 20:22 --
"Say not thou, I will recompense evil; but wait on the LORD, and he shall save thee."

I always find it amusing when someone points out that Corrie Ten Boom submitted passively to the will of the government and that is the way Christians should act currently. This totally ignores the fact that she acted in total defiance of the immoral laws of the government by hiding Jews and that was why she was arrested and went to the camp. She submitted to the punishment of the government, but never to its immoral laws.

After watching the videos from some of the town halls, I have to admit that I was glad many are waking up but saddened too. The Senators and elected officials seemed put off by some civil chanting and confrontation. How do you think large crowds of people who are watching their children starve are going to act?? Unfortunately, we may find the answer to that question much sooner than later. Famine is coming and very, very soon.

This is as soldiers prepare. Single mindedness with preparation to react instinctively without emotion or thought other than towards success. The heart is mostly evil and will lead you astray. Emotion is the "gasoline" of the heart engine. Prepare in accordance with the scriptures. Even as someone who has not fought before, you must prepare and trust in your training.

Jeff,

Scott Johnson from Sermonaudio.com mentioned that same story about the man praying for deliverance in his teaching on the swine flu.

http://www.sermonaudio.com/sermoninfo.asp?SID=726091657303

He also references Steve Quayle who recently did a program on praise and deliverance Scriptures. They both note that not only prayer but also praise is important when seeking deliverance/protection from God (see 2 Chronicles 20).

This is totally on point. We will be forced, soon, to make this determination. To follow orders into the oven or to fight and perhaps even to kill others to defend ourselves.

Do we have a duty to die? Are we to wait unto death?

For me we have a duty to act. But not just any knee-jerk action but to do so in accordance with His law and within his teaching.

It may require us to die but we must act in faith and in accordance with His Will. We must stand against evil openly but not with malice and hatred. We must simply say stop. This is not OK.

If they kill us then we are martyred for our faith and will rise in Christ. If they don't and we have our say and change things using peaceful methods, then God has empowered us. Martin Luther, Gandhi and others have showed the way.

How about a 7 Million for Christ and America March? A clear statement of principals and beliefs, policy proposals that support freedom and faith.

What would Christ want us to do if he gave us the keys? That might just be what we are supposed to do.

Believe me, I really want Him to come and restore order in His way. But, then again, I can't help but think that we are supposed to be part of it.

DRandall; I understand exactly what you are saying. Like Jeff says in the article, it's a balancing act. We are to be the light of the world. We are to emulate our Savior. He got in the face of the Hypocrites of the time; the Pharisee's, calling them "brood of vipers", as well as 'sons of hell',Matt 23:15. Matt 7:6, our Lord says not to cast our pearls before swine. None of these are exactly terms of endearment. Yes, we are to love our enemies, but not at the cost of just letting them destroy everything. Those who come to Christ, we welcome into the fold. Those who wish to destroy Christianity and our freedom, are to be stopped by all means at our disposal, starting with, and exhausting all peaceful means first. In Luke 22:36, our Lord tells His disciples to buy a sword, even at the cost of selling ones own cloak. Why? Not to lead a rebellion, but to defend themselves, and their loved ones. And knowing a little NT Greek, the sword is to be taken literal. I know many have tried to cover that fact up by saying that it doesn't mean a literal sword. But sorry, it does!
I've read many 'Christian' blogs saying that true Chrisitans should have nothing to do with guns, and that we should just let our enemies do what they will to us. Sorry, but I don't believe that God just wants us to sit on our butts and not stand up for Jesus, and His Word. NO, we don't destroy and kill like the muslims, and we don't force our faith onto anyone, but we can defend. And that is what this Christian is going to do, God willing. God's blessings to you all, as well as His protection.

Jred,
I have been to one of these town hall meetings. The majority of people at the meeting were conservatives. They are all fed up, but they sat silently as the senator lied to us about universal health care. The democrats in our community who were at the meeting are some of the worst government workers you will ever encounter, lazy and sloth. This is the time to be counted. WE will be persecuted. They are going to start killing the elderly, and the infirmed. Shall we sit silently?
I want to be taken out of here fast. If the government wants to kill me, I am ready.

Waiting on the Lord is not a balancing act. Waiting on the Lord is doing what He says and nothing else. Deciding what to do for ourselves part of the time, and obeying the Lord the rest of the time, that's a balancing act, and it's not one that the Lord requires or desires from us, but it's something we're all guilty of to varying degrees, myself included of course. But to say that it's required of us implies that the Lord wants us to make our own decision instead of waiting on Him, which you and I both know is not the case.

John the revelator was boiled alive in oil but would not die.

Without his courage in the face of certain death, we would not have the book of revelations!

I dont believe if he were alive today that he would go down to the local gunshop to pick up a glock...

Like Jesus said, for those who kill with the sword with the sword he must be killed...

This calls for the patience of the saints...

Josh,

Those are some wise words brother. Very well said.

I think it was about a year + ago that the Lord impressed upon me the very same thing. To wait upon the Lord & His timing. (This phrase was revealed to me while seeking out His will in regards to ministry. And- I was seeking it for quite some time before I even got the answer to just "wait". It wasn't exactly the answer I was anticipating but I trusted it was the right one of course.)

Now if we would just seek His council in ALL the areas of our lives instead of rushing off & doing our own thing when we don't hear a response & act independently when situations don't turn out exactly as we anticipate them to.

That is probably one of the hardest lessons to learn & internalize. The Full Surrender.

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths." (Proverbs 3:5)

"Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass ... Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him ..." (Psalm 37:4-7)

"Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who trusts in Him! Oh, fear the Lord, you His saints! There is no want to those who fear Him ... But those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing." (Psalm 34:8-10)

Thus says the Lord: "Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart departs from the Lord. For he shall be like a shrub in the desert, and shall not see when good comes, but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land which is not inhabited.

Hey-Jred-is this what the Lord just spoke to you as well? Were you getting a little ancy from all the end time info?

When I first started delving into Bible Prophecy & then onto these other surreal topics it was a super shocker bombardment of information. For me it began only about 4 years ago.

So I learned the basics-then wham-it was like going into supercharge mode. So much for taking a leisurely meandering stroll down Prophecy lane.

It probably has to do with the hour in which we're in & what we are called to do.

Late prophetic hour = sped up learning. And now that we have been given the ability to discern the times-we just wait on the Lord. He'll shine the light on our next steps as needed.

It's amazing to listen to the seasoned Christian prophecy scholars now & how they are even amazed by the rate in which Bible prophecy is coming together & what the Lord has been revealing.

But-we were created, called, & chosen for a time such as this so we can be sure that God will equipt us & annoint us to fulfill His purpose.

Thanks for the link, Jeff. There are some very fine lines here and I'm glad more and more wise folks like you and your readers are trying to work them out.

IMHO both extremes are dangerous at a time like this, i.e., either total passivity or angry calls for revolution-inciting rebellion. Corrie Ten Boom is a great example that I see here mentioned by gibby62. Like all of us, her reaction to pure evil was complex, nuanced and not easy to pigeonhole. Perhaps most importantly, it changed over time as she sought and listened for the will of God in each circumstance.

We could both write long treatises on this and still not 'nail' it because IMHO the chief differences lie in peoples' hearts. One man may be called to protest in the streets and shout from the rooftops and because he is doing God's will for *him* he will be highly effective and will carry the sweet glow of Christ on his face. Yet another, who may appear to be doing everything 'right' may be freelancing in a direction not of God's will and thus fall victim to satan's snares (e.g., of scaring people, inciting anger, etc.) It's something I wrestle with every day and, frankly, it sometimes makes me question if blogging is even what I'm called to. YMMV!!

I am so thankful for the wisdom I find in so many of the comments here. God is using each one of His people in some way every day even though it may be a very small way. I pray that we will all be obedient to the urging of the Holy Spirit in these days. I tend to be impulsive so I really appreciate your words of "waiting". You never know when your comments may touch someone, so when you are led to make a comment, you should do it. There may be a specific person your words will touch.

One thing I don't find mentioned anywhere here is the fact that the entire film is a clear brainwash piece for gnosticism. There is an extensive analysis of this in the video called "Hollywood declares war on God" http://hollywoodswar.com/home.html The warshinsky brothers are ardent gnostics who have openly declared they are out to destroy christianity and the writer of V who also wrote the watchmen (another propoganda piece for gnostics) has publicly stated that it is because of his discipleship of Aleister Crowley and his opening himself up to demonic possesion that he has been able to write so effectively. Watch V and count how many times that he says "Do what thou willt shall be the law" This was Crowelys constant mantra and the watchword of his life. V is a very etertaining film and I loved all the matrix films (More Warshaowski Bro.s) and the watchmen graphic novel but when I was made aware of the real message of these movies I was literally shocked that these messages could be inserted into my mind so adroitly. Now when I watch them it is so obvious that I wonder at my blindness. Please do not be deceived by these films. They are demonically inspired and teach an insidious anti christian message.
