When It Rains It Pours

Interesting.

After the last 24 hours, part of me wants to just crawl into bed and allow the Holy Spirit to comfort and heal my soul while I sleep and hit the reset on just about everything. The other part of me is mad as hell and wants to stay up all night fighting Satan and his evil schemes by reminding him of Who it is that I belong to. He probably thinks he has me right where he wants me, and that he can kick me when I'm done, but I know how this story ends and I know his ultimate fate!

I had a feeling a "faith test" of some sort was coming, and that maybe that's perhaps why I was so focused and intent on drawing nearer to God and resting in His Word. Now I know why (at least in part) because the last 24 hours completely came out of left field and just about caught me flat-footed.

When it rains it pours sometimes. Yet, we still can choose how we want to respond in the face of such adversity. Despite my recent acknowledgement of my personal struggles, I think you know how I chose to respond.

What happened? Well, in the middle of my self-examination process last night (and mere hours after hitting the "Publish" button!) Mrs. JRed began to experience severe stomach pains. Bad enough whenever it happens to anyone, but for a 28-year-old to have the kind of pain she was feeling out of the blue like that was even more disturbing.

We immediately thought it was her appendix and rushed to the Emergency Room of our local hospital. Fortunately, we live less than 5 minutes away. That was around 1:45am. We sat in the Emergency Room after they administered the CT Scan and pain meds until about 10:30am when they moved us upstairs to a "private" room. I put the word "private" in quotes because another young woman shared the room with my wife. We sat there from 10:30am until 9:30pm before a single doctor could come in and see us to properly diagnose her and issue the right treatment.

(NOTE: Not my favorite pic of the two of us -- I think I have a weird smile and strange body language in this one -- but Wifey looks beautiful as usual so I'm gonna run with it!)

Folks, it's not like Buffalo, NY is a major metropolitan area or like we even live in a busy part of the city. In my book, there was no excuse for that sort of thing just like there's no excuse as to why the hospital's ONLY Radiologist who reads all the CT Scans is in Australia.

No, the guy isn't someone who works here and who's merely on vacation this summer "Down Under" at the moment. Nope, this hospital admitted to us that they don't have a local, in-house Radiologist and that the only one they do have on staff is a guy they outsource that role and work to who actually lives in Australia! Is this a common practice? Being in the Recruiting Industry and running my own small Recruiting Firm, you mean to tell me they can't find anyone local let alone from the states to give that job to?

Anyway, without getting into specifics let's just say that it's a good thing we pushed for a second opinion and review of the original CT Scan (sorry Mr. Australia) because when they took a closer look it revealed A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT (AND LESS SERIOUS) PROBLEM than the one they had originally decided to go with! Praise the Lord! That new finding prompted them to cancel a virtual laundry list of GI-related procedures and tests, which surely would've put Mrs. JRed through so much unnecessary pain and suffering for nothing. I'm sorry if I expect more from my local medical institutions (and I know that's precisely why people always say you should "get a second opinion"), but come on, that's just all unacceptable to me.

There's also no excuse for the fact that the young lady in the room next to my wife had told us about how the other day she had to sit in her own urine for 20 minutes before she was forced to clean herself up and work through the pain herself due to the non-response of the staff at the time. Again, unacceptable!

On a brief side note, this experience absolutely convinced me (as if I needed convincing, right?) that if this current Health Care Bill passes it will undoubtedly makes things worse than they already are -- and they're already very bad! In fairness, I will say that my mom (who's a nurse) has been right all along when she's talked to me about some of the major problems in the Health Care Industry. Simply put, the unique national environment is creating a complete mess! How? The urgent need for more and more medical professionals and the economy being what it is has led many people to pursue a career in the medical field when they probably shouldn't be pursuing one. By that I just mean that there are far too many nurses and doctors that we encountered who don't really care about their work (or the patients and their families for that matter). Their bedside manner is some of the worst I've ever encountered! It's almost like the economy and the need for a stable job has forced them to pursue a career out of necessity rather than out of it being their calling in this life. It shows every time a simple question or request is met with sighing, rolling the eyes, impatience, aggravation, and just a general annoyance with us. Ok, we get it. We're bothering you more than someone who's only in this for the steady paycheck is allowed to be bothered. Cripes!

In fairness, I should mention that there's a definite disparity though, which gets back to what my mom who's a nurse has been telling me for quite some time about the industry. The older, more experienced nurses and staff members are the most considerate and kind. They represent the "old guard" who began their career in this field because they genuinely wanted to help people. They still get it. It was sad (and embarrassing) to see some of them simply approach the younger nurses (the ones right out of school) about something, only to have the younger ones either ignore them outright, or respond with such ferocity that you almost want to leave for fear that your loved one will be treated in much the same way at some point if that's how they really are with their colleagues.

Look, I'm not painting with a broad brush here, but just trying to convey everything about this experience. Plus, you'll have to forgive me if my "filter" isn't working too properly tonight because I haven't slept at all, barely ate anything, and didn't have a single cup of coffee which is HUGE for me. Needless to say, I need to find a bed and ASAP. I also never intended for this entry to be so long. I just wanted to put up a little, "Isn't that interesting in light of my last commentary..." column here and it turns into this. So be it I guess.

Long story short, while Mrs. JRed will still have to experience some pain for the next few days the official diagnosis isn't as bad as we thought it was going to be. Praise the Lord!

Boy, isn't that just like our common enemy? He has to sit and just watch me react in a way that he probably never expected -- coming out publicly to admit my faults, shortcomings, and sins -- and then figures he better turn up the heat a little more, or at the very least do whatever he can to keep me from doing the very thing I said I was going to do, which is spend more time with the Lord and His Word. Oops! Sorry, but I still plan to do some of that before hitting the sack tonight.

Lord, I am still yours. Always have been, and always will be. While I know that I'm not as experienced when it comes to wielding the spiritual weapons of warfare you freely give to me there's a part of me that wants to stand up using what little strength I have, look him in the eyes, and challenge him if not simply tell him that no matter what he throws at me and my family I will never -- ever -- blame or curse you for any situation I or we find ourselves in. Never! Is that foolish? Is that wise? Should I even concern myself with that at this point, or just focus on drawing near to You instead? Ah-ha! Thank you for answering so quickly and clearly. That's EXACTLY what Satan wants me to do, isn't it? He wants me to keep my eyes focused on him rather than focused on You and Your Son Jesus Christ! He would've succeeded and scored another point because here I would've thought that I was somehow "doing the right thing" in standing up for You and defending my faith when, in reality, you don't need me to defend You at all, do You? In fact, it's me who needs the defending and You who will provide that defense. Man, this revelation that You led me to also seems to provide a nice commentary to earlier columns from this week and sort of echoes what a lot of us have been suggesting should be our appropriate, Christian response in the event of any kind of government tyranny -- thank You for that! The Subtle Serpent almost struck again, didn't he? Amazing too because now I have peace about this entire situation and when I first began writing this I was all over the map emotionally and not knowing what the proper response should be tonight before I close my eyes. I now know. It will be falling to my knees, thanking You for convicting me of my sins, praising Your unimaginable mercy and forgiveness despite my unworthy condition, glorifying You as Healer for helping my wife get through, and meditating on a few verses before turning out the light so that a new light can begin to shine within my heart and soul as I sleep, refreshing me and preparing me for the next battle; a battle that's Yours and Yours alone to fight and win on my behalf. I love You dearly my Heavenly Father. Amen.

One final note has to do with an email chain I was a part of somehow. I don't know Luke or his father John Bolger, but I received an email tonight that stated the following:

"Please help me and my family by praying for my father - He is awake - has limited movement (hands /arms) and is suffering severe delirium. He is acting confused and aggressive. Please pray that his mind settles down quickly. I can't thank you enough for all your prayers. I know God is working something here - but its very hard for my dad and my family."

Luke, I just said a prayer for your father, for you, and for your family.

Thank you all in advance for your prayers too.

Something you said in your post REALLY connected with me. It's what your mom said about people getting into the medical field because they think it's a secure profession given the state of the economy, and not because they have a desire to sincerely help others.

This is happening in a BIG WAY. I know a ton of people running up $50,000 and more in student loans to get trained in the medical field, for economic reasons ONLY!. One person I knew that was in medical school would walk around with a surgical mask ALL THE TIME, because she couldn't stand to get that close to patients and their germs. Can you believe it?

I hope it gets better for you and I will pray as best as I know how. Even though I am no longer an xtian I still like, just about everybody (who isn't trying to kill me, LOL) and get along with a lot of different people. I like visiting your blog, if for nothing else that the way you present everything is really interesting.
Hope you get to feeling better, Hashem watch over you and protect you.

You know its wild how ONE, two can become. You had a spiritual thorn in your side and perhaps your wife felt it in the physical?

One night several months ago I had horrendous pain in my side. Probably should have gone to the ER...ended up staying up half the night praying and suffering. But by the end of a few hours, realized I had learned another great lesson in praying and praising GOD during pain (extreme pain). A warm, relaxing sensation came over my body and the pain left and I was able to rest. Praise GOD for Who HE is!! GOD bless you Jeff and your family. Hope all is on the mend!!

Thank you for your post today. I can tell you that the young folks' attitudes are just like that in every field and commonality, not just the health care facilities! There is someone just like that where I work - insolent, back-talking, half-done-Polly who tells me quite often that I make thing too hard for myself when it comes to work production. Yes, this younger generation is Godless and without compassion or mercy. I am appalled at some of the things I witness on a daily basis, and it is only growing worse day by day. I thank God for the older people who still have manners.

Lord, thank you for JRed and his wife. They are such a blessing to many of us. Give him an extra special infusion of You Holy Spirit, and fill JRed and his wife with that peace that passes all understanding. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

From what it sounds like, your wife may have Crohn's disease. This disease strikes people from late teens into their thirties.

I suffered from this in my early twenties in early 1970: I spent the month of August 1973 laying on a hospital bed naked but for a towel and draining my intestines into it. I was draining out of a failed operation for Ileitis I had six months earlier. At age 23 and at 6'2" I was fully grown, I went into the second operation weighing 112 pounds and came out weighing 106.

I had the first operation in January '73 and returned to NC and work/grad school from NJ. I knew within three weeks the operation had failed but not how badly. I spent a few months looking for a heat lamp all over Greensboro but found none. God saw to it that I did not find one: if I had found one, my intestines would have split open with a few days. In July of '73, I collapsed from the air conditioning in the store where I worked; I returned to my parents in NJ where I found a heat lamp; and spent the next few days applying it to my abdomen while I waited to see the doctor. The doctor slapped me into the hospital so fast my head spun. My intestines burst through the old surgery two days later.

Soon after the first surgery, my intestines leaked into my abdominal cavity: there were only two possibilities for the resulting infection: peritonitis which kills quickly or an abscess is formed sealing of the infection. The latter occurred. This saved my life until I could get back to NJ and get into the hospital. The doctors took out four feet of my intestines.

God worked in my life at that time to see that I did not find a heat lamp and that an abscess formed. I give thanks to God for that. As I was only given less than a 50% chance to survive, I reckon that I am not living on my own time.

God allowed my to become so critically ill in order to get my attention and he has had it since; though, I have needed several kicks in the ass since then.

I did and will pray for you and your wife. May God bless you and pour out his consolation upon you and your wife. May she be healed of her affliction.
........
Oddly enough, last week I had the opportunity to read an article on ciliac disease: the disease is created by the body's response to gluten causing the intestines to leak; the researcher went on to write that such inflammatory diseases have a common denominator of the leaky intestines, though not the same element causing the initial reaction.

JRED, I am so sorry you and your wife had to go through this. I sincerely hope and pray all will go better now.

I agree with the previous poster about this being a generational thing. I hesitate to say this because there are many, many fine individuals in the younger generation, but it is true that our current society is not conducive to producing hard-working young people of God. I spoke with a nurse who said that many new nurses are quitting, and she thinks it's because they start off, thinking they'll get this high pay, and don't realize it's such hard work.

BTW, I am studying to become a nurse, and I am so looking forward to comforting patients and also praying with patients who request that of me.

NJArtist, I am so sorry you had to go through crohns dz, it's a horrible, painful condition, but I'm so glad you survived! God really was working in your life.

Please dont just discard him as a whole until you have fully researched him out like you do with other stories. Dig for yourself and find what you will. His blog is at Windrumors.com. Dear Jred,
Hey, you must have gone to a small hospital. I know that because I am a registered X ray tech. Have been for 15 years. Welcome to outsourcing. I know that it's done at many smaller hospitals because it's cheaper than hiring a radiologist. They are commanding a salary of up to 500,000 per year right now. I work at a huge hospital in MI so we don't outsource,.. yet. Anyhow, your right about the people going into medicine for the wrong reasons. I see it all day with our radiology students. Alot of them are on their second career and they could care less about the patient. And here is the other thing. MOst places now are under staffed, so people are over stressed, so they take anti depressents,(Developed by satan I am sure) and then they become apathetic about everything. There is definitely a pattern. I will pray for you and your family.

Immortal Jellyfish? Now I wonder if the mark of the beast will tempt people w/the promise of immortality w/o repentance?

And a "10-sigma person"-What? And I thought I had heard just about every strange type of person/being known to man.

DebinFlorida said...

Carol, thanks for the link to the Bearden info. Haven't kept up with the scaler technology info for awhile but this info,"http://www.cheniere.org/correspondence/020609.htm "By adding the proper negative energy and negative energy patterning into that "precursor bubble interaction process", one is able to "unhappen" any part of its ongoing creation, thus altering that "observable reality result" at will. The basic process is easy to apply, using a ittle "tickling" mechanism that Dirac himself pointed out. There is a sixth process that is presently a totally astonishing one to our leading biological scientists. There has been discovered a tiny jelly-fish-like creature about a fifth of an inch in diameter that, in the early 90s, started spreading from its Caribbean origin, into the oceans of the world. This organism does not age and die, but has eternal life unless physically killed. It "breeds" via its sexual process when sufficiently aged, then as it further ages it reverses its entire aging process and becomes young again. and then ages and goes through the breeding process again. And then reverses, and so on. This is documented in the hard biological science literature, as a tremendous mystery to our leading biological scientists."

I wonder if this was the original concept of immortality for all original life on this planet? It was unique to us that Adam was not presented to our understanding as an infant and if Adam was created as an adult and Eve was created or formed / cloned from him as an adult and they were not an 'original creation' intended to die...well that would certainly be a possibility that the Jellyfish holds a key to understanding a possibility not usually thought of.

The adversary is using cloning and dna tampering now to offer man immortality isn't he when you think about it. Upgrading bodies with spare parts of others and mixing of animal and technological components.

Physical Immortality in this realm of the walking dead doesn't interest me much as a slave to this beast system arising for a short time.

JRED,

I am relieved with you that your lovely wife was not as severe as initially thought. It is always hard when your closed loved-ones are inflicted with such suffering. Luckily we have the Healer on our side.

In one way I am glad I read your post. I stay in South Africa.
Twenty years ago our public health care system was of the best in the world, but things changed dramatically so that our public health care are of the worst in the developing world. We considered moving to another country, but what is encouraging to me now is that it is going bad in the best of places and countries lately, so it would be a worthless pursuit to move to another country (can you imagine) because it is all the same everywhere.

I am looking forward to a time when our Lord will govern to this almost God forsaken planet.

I hope your wife is of best health soonest. I do appreciate your effort with your BLOG, you feel like a close friend - Thanks!

It really saddens me to read your post and some of the comments on this page. My husband is in his forth year of medical school and I see it a completely different way. Yes there are things wrong with our health care system, but the medical professionals, regardless of which “school” they are coming from, old or new, are not the problem. By the time my husband graduates we will be $200,000 thousand dollars in debt. Debt that will continue to grow interest while my husband works 80+ hours a week, in a hospital for $45,000 a year, for the next FIVE years. For the last four years I have watched my husband and many of his classmates, study and give their entire lives to learning, so that one day they may have enough education under their belt to correctly diagnose and heal their patients, time that could have been spent with his family. I’m not hear to say that we are not excited at the prospect of one day making a Great living for ourselves, but he could do that in so many other ways. If you can learn how the body works, you can easily learn Wall Street, and make double what we will be making in half the time. I know you had a bad experience, and yes there are bad doctors out there, but to selfishly categorize the majority of doctors this way is misleading and cruel, especially to the families of these health care professionals who have to sacrifice time with their loved ones so people who are unappreciative can receive the help that they need. I don’t know the specifics of what was going on at that hospital that night, but I can bet you there were children at home wondering why their daddy or mommy could not tuck them in. The truth is they are doing it to help people regardless of what your perception of health professionals may be. What other service runs through the night, just in case something happens to people like us, none. There are a number of things you can say that are wrong with the health care industry like, understaffing, underpayments by insurance companies, underpayments by medicare/medicaid, the list goes on and on, but to blame it on the evil doctors who are only out to make money is what is wrong with the health care debate in this country. Do you do your job to make money, yes. Why should doctors be made to feel bad for wanting to make money doing what they have spend alot of time and money training to do. Mike Huckabee said it best “If we keep talking about limiting doctor salaries, we might get people who really aren't that good, but they were willing to do the job at a discount.” in this article: I Want Doctors To Make Money

http://www.mikehuckabee.com/index.cfm?fa=News.View&News_id=55513b22-3bd9-4271-afde-ca4eba6193f8

By the way, if you keep looking for Satan, you will find him, and even if you do this with the best of intentions, he will infiltrate your life. I read your blog daily and hope your wife gets better soon, thank God that someone was their to help her in her time of need, even if the packaging wasn’t so great.

A friend of mine works for this company called illumina & just sent this out iPhone Meets Genome

For Illumina, iPhone is more than a great mobile business device - it's the delivery platform for an ambitious new approach to personalized medicine.

"Illumina is developing an iPhone application that will allow consumers to carry around their genomic information," Flatley explains. "Part of it may be on the phone itself, part of it may be in the cloud that the phone would have access to. It would allow the customer to bring up the application and interact with it live in conjunction with their doctor."

as a long time sufferer of many maladies, my opinion of the DOCTORS is that they are NOT EVEN doctors!

the incursion of the pharmaceutical multinational corporations into the medical schools has rendered the field ineffective...

ALL they learn in medical school these days is how to write prescriptions!

Back in the day, a doctor would give you a VITAMIN SHOT if needed...

BUT NOWDAYS doctors DONT EVEN KNOW about VITAMINS because the corporations have DUMBED THEM DOWN too much...

1.IBS(Irritable Bowel Syndrome)
2.Diverticulosis or Diverticulitis
3.Kidney Stone
4.Gall Stones
5.Crohns Disease
6.Ulcerative Colitis

Whatever the diagnosis is we pray that she feels better soon and the Lord gives you both comfort.

Just a few things:

Medical/nursing care in this country is better than anywhere else on the planet, even if staff aren't nice or there are long waits. Try a medical mission trip in a third world country to see the difference.

Hospitals and clinics are finding it harder and harder to break even, let alone make a little money (which gets funneled back into the organization in form of equipment and salary increases) Third party payers are to blame.

Doctors, nurses, and other med staff are universally overworked--few other occupations have this kind of scheduling and responsibility, plus a customer that expects hotel-quality service.

Diagnosing problems is a series of algorithms. Usually one looks for the worst case scenario first, to avoid missing something big. If one misses something big, one gets sued. It isn't always black and white.

God bless

Stand strong, brother. All soldiers have weaknesses and know that those weaknesses may be their downfall, yet the continue to train and prepare. Fighting alone, a soldier has no chance, but fighting as a team...you have every chance. The Lord is on your side and so are many brothers and sisters. We all have weaknesses, but we cover for our fellow team mates and have faith they will cover for us.
The war will soon intensify, there will be more battles, but be at peace. Speaking from experience, when you are called to battle you must put all other people and things away. They cannot be a distraction or they will get in the way so for their sake you must give them up to the Lord's keeping while you do his bidding.
Peace, brother...stand up.

Can you elucidate why you think that the propsed bill would make it worse? I would have thought that the economic rationing you faced might have made you question the benefits of a medical system in thrall to Mammon. I was born into a Christian medical family, everyone is a doctor, a nurse, or an orderly (I am in Admin) and I can't understand how people say the things they do about public health systems. Living in Australia, with a public health system, I am baffled at how Satan so freely uses the Lord's name in vain in the media. One of the most mystifying is how Mammon holds the Church to account, instead of the other way around, and nowhere is this so apparent as in the degredation of the hosptial system. Our Lord wanted us to care for and nurture each other.

As in all professions, I am sure there are individuals pursuing their livelihoods for love as well as for money. As a person with a progressive, uncurable disease, I have experienced many medical professionals who are excellent and many who are not. It is what it is. But the US still has the best medical care around.
The government health care bill currently being bandied about in congress will destroy that, of that I have no doubt....the governmental bodies have proven they cannot be trusted or believed.
But like so many things in our society, we have ALL been willing partakers of the "easy way" to health, wealth and salvation. Unfortunately for everyone, the time has come to pay our dues, whether it be a governmental health care system, losing our wealth and retirements in the stock market and finally facing God with the truth about our salvation.
I hope you and your wife are both doing better today, Jeff. You are much missed in the blog-o-sphere!
May God's spirit speak to each one of you today in such as way as to bring you closer and closer to our savior.

You can always go to www.parablesblog.blogspot.com until Jeff returns. This is an excellent site for building up the body of Christ (as well as http://www.newine.wordpress.com).

Kim, thanks for the link. That was VERY INTERESTING!

There was just too much symbolism in that to ignore. I used to think this kind of stuff was crazy-talk, including all the discussions about memes and pop synchronicity, etc., but when I think about the way God in the past chose to convey messages, oftentimes he seemed to have used this style of communicating. For example, the symbolism used in Nebuchadnezzar's dream is consistent with the kind of symbolism the author presumes to exist in the article contained in that above referenced link. This has really opened my eyes to this sort of thing. Unless one recognizes that this form of symbolic communication was in fact used by God in the past, they are guaranteed to be blinded to its significance now. Is our being able to see it a form of spiritual discernment given to those who are watchful in the last days? Something to think about.

Hi.
I am referred here by a friend.
I am a warrior. I battle in a completely different way. I too, am scarred tattered and worn... along with blessed, full of light and and very, very close to the Spirit.

Sometimes, brother, when we give too much lip service (and the time to give it) to evil, it draws our eyes off Christ. Thus the enemy has win those moments in the eyes of Christ.

The thing is, yes evil not only exists and destroys all things, but it's at the very center of that destruction you can glimpse the Hope of Christ our King in it's best glory.

Christ sat with the destitute, protected the weak. He engaged the our corporate and personal sinfullness sacrificially. We should learn from this.

NO ONE beats sin. NO ONE. Not clergy, not warriors, not the Godly... especially not the Saints.

The only way survive attack is to embrace Love through it. WE can't win against Satan. Only Christ can. I would love to talk with you more about this, as I see you are in trouble. But I also see your lack of response to the readers of your blog. Do you engage in the community you are attempting to create for Christ?

I will pray. This is not to convict you, as I've pointed out what I see as errors in the Spirit, but, this is to lift you up as a rightful prophet.

I am praying for you and your family Jeff, but you must understand that God put you here for a purpose. You need to "get back on this horse and ride it." God has given you the gift of communication and the obvious desire to inform and educate others on the subject of Bible prophecy and the impact it will have on all of us
in the coming days. When Satan attacks
we must all re-double our efforts and strike back with a vengeance and not allow him the control that he so obviously desires. Hope to see you back on very soon.

In Christ.

how convenient...all that medical info on your iphone ...it will be so much easier to integrate it into the chip they plan to "cause" all to take...

"best medical care available?" hardly! if you consider nazi treatments that only prolong life and not cure...just another imitation and deception...and provides fodder for the medical mafia's drug running scam called prescriptions aka pharmakia and sorcery...

Well, I learn something new everyday. Who needs the Medical Iphone with the clause in Obama's health care proposal?

Watchman-Declare What You See! (That means you too- Jred)

The Obama Health care bill under Class II (Paragraph 1, Section B) specifically includes‘‘(ii) a class II device that is implantable.”
