What We're Praying/Talking About

Look Up Fellowship's Statement Of Faith

After what has occurred in my life in recent weeks (a cathartic, spiritual growth experience like none I've ever had before), I decided it would be best to create a "Statement of Faith" of sorts that anyone who visits this forum can read at any time.

My hope is that there will be no illusions about where I stand on certain subjects when it comes to my cherished faith; not just the basic tenets of our shared faith, but those topics of eschatology that are regularly discussed and studied here.

Anyway, it will be replacing the "Prophecy Basics" tab at the top of the Main Page. After all, many of the people who stop by the site are already professing Christians who have been exposed to end times Bible prophecy.

Plus, given my unique set of circumstances over the last month or so I get the sense that my focus now (in addition to reporting on the prophecy related news) should be to apply what I've learned by encouraging and reminding fellow Brothers and Sisters in Christ not to make the same mistakes I did. How will I attempt to do that? By reiterating how important it is to continue to work towards a holy and obedient lifestyle as we continue to mature as Christians who have graduated to "solid food" because that's what sanctification is all about, right?

That being said, I'm also adding 2 new Categories -- "Bible Study" and "Spiritual Growth" -- too. Hopefully, it's obvious why I've decided to go that route. Simply put, I was elevating my love for studying signs (my love for prophecy) over my love for the Lord and His Word. Worse, I was spending more time in the world trying to interpret current events through the prism of prophecy then I was in the Word trying to gain a deeper understanding of my Savior and applying that knowledge to my own life in order to grow.

Rest assured that we'll still go rabbit hunting, but for every prophecy related/"signs I'm seeing" article, I intend to write a Bible Study/Spiritual Growth column to help keep us (mainly me) grounded and anchored to what's most important.

In the Long Overdue Department, many of you will be thrilled to learn that I've finally added a Search Bar to the website, which can be found along the left hand side of the page. This should help you access various topics easily and quickly. Over the next few days you'll probably notice a few other subtle but important changes like more blogs added to the "Must Read Websites" section. Anyway, I just wanted to hit the reset button before getting back into the full swing of things around here.

LOOK UP FELLOWSHIP'S
STATEMENT OF FAITH

The sole basis of my beliefs is the Holy Bible, God's infallible written Word, the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments. I believe that it was uniquely, verbally, and fully inspired by the Holy Spirit and that it was written without error (inerrant) in the original manuscripts. It is the supreme and final authority in all matters on which it speaks.

I accept those areas of doctrinal teaching on which, historically, there has been general agreement among all true Christians. Because of the specialized nature of this ministry (if it's ok to even call it that), I desire to allow for freedom of conviction on other doctrinal matters, provided that any interpretation is based upon the Bible alone, and that no such interpretation shall become an issue which hinders the work to which God is accomplishing here.

Besides, we know from Proverbs 25:2 that "It is the glory of God to conceal a matter..." Christians are supposed to be lovers of truth, and I'm hoping we can all consider that our current interpretations of prophecy may be slightly incorrect since we also know that 1 Corinthians 13 tells us we see "through a glass, darkly" and that God even told Daniel in Daniel 12:4, "But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased."

Thus, when it comes to the study of Bible prophecy and my current understanding following such study I believe the following to be true in general:

1. The events foretold in the Book of Revelation are set in our future and are therefore unfulfilled.

2. The Rapture of the Church is a literal and future event to come.

On matters of end times prophecy it's very important for me to convey to you that I am not above admitting that I may be wrong in my interpretation and understanding of some things. May we all be so flexible and humble.

However, when it comes to the basic tenets of our shared faith I will boldly proclaim that I will never waver on the following beliefs:

1. There is only one true God and that is the God of the Holy Bible. He eternally exists in three persons -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit -- each of whom possesses equally all the attributes of Deity and the characteristics of personality.

2. Jesus Christ is God, the living Word, my Lord and Savior, who became flesh through His miraculous conception by the Holy Spirit and His virgin birth. Hence, He is perfect and no one gets to the Father except through faith in Him.

3. He lived a sinless life and voluntarily atoned for the sins of men by dying on the cross as their substitute, thus satisfying divine justice and accomplishing salvation for all who trust in Him alone.

4. He rose from the dead in the same body, though glorified, in which He lived and died.

5. He ascended bodily into Heaven and sat down at the right hand of God the Father, where He, the only mediator between God and man, continually makes intercession for His own.

6. Man was originally created in the image of God. He sinned by disobeying God; thus, he was alienated from his Creator. That historic fall brought all mankind under divine condemnation.

7. Man's nature is corrupted, and he is thus totally unable to please God. Every man is in need of regeneration and renewal by the Holy Spirit.

8. The salvation of man is wholly a work of God's free grace and is not the work, in whole or in part, of human works or goodness or religious ceremony. God imputes His righteousness to those who put their faith in Christ alone for their salvation, and thereby justified them in His sight.

9. It is the privilege of all who are born again of the Spirit to be assured of their salvation from the very moment in which they trust Christ as their Savior. This assurance is not based upon any kind of human merit, but is produced by the witness of the Holy Spirit, who confirms in the believer the testimony of God in His written Word. I don't believe in leaving Jesus hanging on the cross.

10. The Holy Spirit has come into the world to reveal and glorify Jesus Christ and to apply the saving work of Christ to men. He convicts and draws sinners to Christ, imparts new life to them, continually indwells them from the moment of spiritual birth, and seals them until the day of redemption. His fullness, power, and control are appropriated in the believer's life by faith.

11. Every believer is called to live so in the power of the indwelling Spirit that he will not fulfill the lust of the flesh but will bear fruit to the glory of God. I will constantly work at taking every thought captive to Christ.

12. Jesus Christ is the Head of the Church, His Body, which is composed of all men, living and dead, who have been joined to Him through saving faith.

13. God admonishes His people to assemble together regularly for worship, for participation in ordinances, for edification through the Scriptures and for mutual encouragement. May this forum contribute to that end in some small way and encourage us to take part in greater, more in-depth fellowship and worship after leaving this space.

14. Jesus Christ will come again to the Earth -- personally, visibly, and bodily -- to consummate history and the eternal plan of God.

15. The Lord Jesus Christ commanded all believers to proclaim the Gospel throughout the world and to disciple men of every nation. The fulfillment of that Great Commission requires that all worldly and personal ambitions be subordinated to a total commitment to "Him who loved us and gave Himself for us." Again, may He empower me to perform and fulfill this command here.

16. The Lord Jesus Christ commanded us repeatedly to watch and pray so that's what I intend to do with each day He gives me on this planet.

as for the word church, I see that you have capitalized it. to somehow show it to be a noun and an physical entity?

this is a falicy, if you take the time to check the entire bible you will find it is capitalized NO where.
the reason for this is because the so called church does not exist. it was and is just a group or assembly of like minded people!

the so called church or building and it's luciferian preachers want you to believe that they are of CHRIST when in accuality they are anti-christ programmers, and MANipulators sent by the gov. beast to stear you into thier cattle shoots.

did GOD not warn you about worshiping stone, brick and wooden idols???

have you not read about how they are vainity and nothingness???

have you not seen what happened to old testament isreal, when they succumed to this luciferian practice of stone temples and pharissitical preachers???
when will you except the truth???

did CHRIST not say every stone would be thrown down???

and HE the corner stone of GOD's temple is the only one or thing to be worshiped!!!

your still not getting it. the rapture is a LIE! and you have already lost your new found faith,
by not trusting god and JESUS CHRIST to bring you through the fire tried and tested to stand amongst the saints of the most high!!!

GOD forgive thier blindness for they can not see the truth when it is presented to them!!!!!!!

Thank you John.

I can assure you that I didn't give a single thought to the implications of capitalizing the word "Church" and even now am not quite sure why I decided to do that.

Also, while I believe there's a literal and future Rapture event that doesn't mean I automatically assume I'd be part of that "escape" as one of those "counted worthy to escape the things to come upon the earth). Whatever form the "escape" takes, if God decides it will bring greater glory to Him for me to endure any Tribulation trials, then I have complete confidence that He will see me through.

In any event, I will take your comments under prayerful consideration.

just to make my case clear.

the rapture is a LIE! it does not come from GOD's word in any shape or form.

so those who have faith in the LIE that is the rapture, have forsaken GOD and JESUS CHRIST! and have given themselves over to another christ or anti-christ.

if you do not have faith that JESUS has the power to bring his chosen people thru the tribulation
unscathed. you have no faith in CHRIST at all!!! this is your big blind mistake.

also the word church came form, curch or kurch which was the bench or table that the money changers(bankers), mite infested dove merchants(infomercal salesmen) and TAX collectors(theives)
set up outside the main temple in the court yard, and the SINagogs throughout asia

if you believe this was and is sanctified by GOD you are lost and out of touch with GOD and his WORD
JESUS CHRIST.

the body of CHRIST is the TEMPLE,
the people who have true faith in JESUS to save his people from ALL things and love of the truth of GODS WORD, are the body of CHRIST!!!

agian it is all there in the king james bible, stop trying to make GODS WORD fit your rapture lie!
and start excepting the love of the truth in it's pureist form,

total faith in JESUS CHRIST!!!!!!!

John you are confusing the use of the word "church".

It is not referring to the building because it truly is an assemble of like-minded people.

The word "church" can also be used to mean the body of believers of which the head is Jesus Christ. The capitalization comes from the fact that Jesus is the Head.

Now concerning the "lucifarian" preachers; preachers were common in the beginning of Christianity. Paul and Peter are two examples. Was not Christ considered a rabbi, or Hebrew preacher. Can you call these people "lucifarian".

There are certainly false preachers that might even be from the government. They don't follow what Christ and the apostles taught and so they can be identified. It is wrong to say that all preachers are evil because you are calling those who do what god has called them to do evil.

You are correct that we are by no means to worship any material thing. Even the throne in the temple was empty and no image of God was ever placed there. It is also wrong to hold any image of some saint of Christ as anything more than a piece of rock or wood. To worship them is idalotry. However the building I go to listen to teaching a fellowship with other believers in has never come to my mind as an object worth worshiping. There is nothing in the building itself that separates it from the the building next to it. The difference is its use as a place of worship and teaching.

It it clear that you have a confused understanding of the gathering of believers for worship teaching and fellowship. It might be due to some experience in a church led by false teachers and devoted to a false gospel.

Regarding the rapture this site and certainly the bible say otherwise.

John,

Perhaps the following revision needs to be made to my original post:

"2. The escape of the church (i.e. read that to mean the true Body of Christ) is a literal and future event to come. Now, whether that "escape" takes the form of what many traditionally call the "Rapture", or some other means of God seeing His faithful through the intensity of the coming Tribulation remains to be seen. Bottom line, I believe there is a future and literal escape for true believers consister with Jesus' own clear command in the Book of Luke:

Luke 21:36 (KJV) Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

i'm not confusing anything!
I have already explained where the word came from and what it means.
you can twist it into anything you want, but the truth remains the truth!!!

you see church does not exist in the original munuscripts either it was brought in by that other satanic religion roman catholicism.

you are the one that is confused and we all know who the father of confussion is, don't we?
he is also the father of lies (i.e. the rapture!)

the true CHRISTIANS will remain here through the tribulation under the protection of GOD and JESUS CHRIST, just like noah, lot and the apostels.

the proof is in CHRIST's own prayer
to GOD in the garden of gethsemane.
where JESUS is praising GOD for the work he has done in the disciples, and JESUS specificaly asks GOD not to remove them from the earth!

John 17:11-23 And I am no more in the world, and these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep them in thy name which thou hast given me, that they may be one, even as we are. While I was with them, I kept them in thy name which thou hast given me: and I guarded them, and not one of them perished, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled. But now I come to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they may have my joy made full in themselves. I have given them thy word; and the world hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.( I pray not that thou shouldest take them from the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil one.) They are not of the world even as I am not of the world. Sanctify them in the truth: thy word is truth. As thou didst send me into the world, even so sent I them into the world. And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they themselves also may be sanctified in truth. Neither for these only do I pray, but for them also that believe on me through their word; that they may all be one; even as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be in us: that the world may believe that thou didst send me. And the glory which thou hast given me I have given unto them; that they may be one, even as we are one; I in them, and thou in me, that they may be perfected into one; that the world may know that thou didst send me, and lovedst them, even as thou lovedst me.

so you see CHRIST asked GOD not to take the disciples out of the world, but to protect them from the evil one, it could not be any clearer are you a diciple of GOD or not??? that is your decision to make not mine ,but it is my job as a CHILD of GOD to warn you about false and dangerous teachings!!!

so there is the truth, do with it what you will and GOD will be the judge!!!

GOD help them to discern fact from fiction, reality from fantacy and
truth from lies!!! if it is in your will!!!!!!!amen

Dear JRed...I can sense the difference. You have been with the Lord. Remember how Moses' face shone when he came down from the mountain? I can sense your face is shinier :-)

I have prayed for you every day during your 'dark night of the soul.' Allow your elder Christian sister to express my joy that you have your priorities straight, and it shows on the website.

I'm just one of many who comment, so you probably don't remember a couple of times when I mentioned how important it was to spend an hour or two (or more!) in the Word and in prayer every single day before attempting anything else. It is the single most important practice for keeping us in the center of His Will.

And now relax in the grace of the Lord's bounty. We all go through those times of testing and obedience and growth. It's a part of the Christian walk. And, believe me, no matter how old one gets the pruning never stops.

The joy of the Lord is our strength. I look forward to meeting you in the air. Very soon! And I will know you.

May God richly bless you and Mrs. JRed and the little JReds. You will remain on my prayer list.

John, you're crazy as a loon. The concept of the rapture is described in models and typologies throughout the bible and its mentioned in a word as well, but in a different language.

I wouldn't state what I'm stating as strongly as I am if you didn't come off as such a pompous *ss. You just might find out on Judgment Day that your "know it all" attitude is going to cost you.

If you have an opinion, fine, but quick telling everybody else they're wrong. Maybe you lack the discernment necessary to see what so many others see.

And it requires being even more attentive and silent

Jeff - glad you are back. I would just have to say, the Rapture is very true. Once the church age is over, age of grace - Christ will be re-united with His bride (church) Then God will deal with Israel. Noah and his family were saved. EVERYONE on the whole earth perished. Lot and his two daughters were the only ones that escaped. Lots wife did not. She turned and looked. She is a representation of those that claim they love the Lord, but is unable to give up their earthly desires. God is beginning and end. He knows exactly the last gentile that will accept His grace of salvation freely. Once that is done, the church age will be complete. If God is going to protect the church during the 7 year tribulation; why are Christians around the globe being murdered right now. Wouldn't he want to protect them, so they can be here to spread the truth about Christ. Maybe the reason Christ asked God to protect the disciples was because they needed to spread the gospel. But like the early church they too were martyred. In the case of the old testament. Israeli worship false gods, like baal. They adapted and kept the egyptian ways of worship. That is why every last one of them except two from that generation lived to cross over to what God promised. God commands worship from His children. Those that love and obey Him. This is why Israel was taken into captivity, because of their disobedience. But God had made a covenant with Abraham, a blood covenant. God is not a liar. That covenant still holds on today. I find that when people use scriptures to prove their point, they are not studying the bible. Having a bible that connects scriptures from the new and old, gives you a better understanding. Because things that happen in the old testament - some of the same verses are in the new testament. A trumpet will be blown, and all believers names will be called. The rapture will happen, because God always proves Himself to the unbeliever. That is the day no one would want to be on the earth if left here. The whole world will be corrupt. There will be no where to hide. Why would God need to keep us here? He can protect us in heaven.. The only people He will protect during the last 3 1/2 years will be 144,000 Jews. People that become believers will be hunted down like animals and killed. The law of the land will forbid anyone to worship God. I trust in Christ, and I have more faith each day gets closer to Him calling us home. I'm like a kid waiting to receive a gift, I know that has been promised to me. While in the church age I will have tribulation, but after the church age, I am rapture and no longer will have a bit of sin in my body. That is the blessed Hope..

you answered many of your own questions. the christians that are being murderd around the world, most likly are not real christians
most are just like lots wife.
allthough some may be true martyrs.

also it is true that the deciples were martyerd, but that was at the time of GODS chosing, as an example to you! so you see that they did not fly away like little birdies in a rapture that is a lie!!!

so are you better or more important then the apostles, that you should be granted amnesty from the tribulation. I think not!!!

the real spiritualy alive sevents of GOD, know that they will endure many hardships including the tribulation!!!

as for the church I have already adressed that burning bridge, please read above!

the age we are in right now , is the kingdom of heaven, it started the day CHRIST started his ministry!!! and it will as GOD said, never end!!!!!!!

so as I said there is NO church! it is a word made popular by the luciferians to pull GODS childern into satans traps!

the knowledge and worship of GOD&JESUS CHRIST is a personal spiritual awakening, and has nothing to do with the traditions of man!!!

so come out of spitual babylon, pick up your bible (KJV) and continue to study. because from what you wrote,
you have alot to grasp on to yet.

arm thru to you

thank you for the complament, but I do not consider myself a prophet.
if I sound like one to you, that should be a sign that maybe you need to listen to what I have said?

anyway I speek in the voice GOD gave me, so IF it sounds prophetic
it is just another blessing GOD has bestowed upon me!!!

thank you dear LORD for all the blessings you have given to me, your lowly little servent!!!!!!!

JRed,

I love your statement of faith. I think it is EXCELLENT and well thought out.

By the way, welcome back! I love your openness with what you've been through. I KNOW the Lord will use your situation to reach many of us who may have been focusing too much on prophecy, but not getting close enough to Him (by praying, studying the Word, etc.) I think the Lord convicted you of this as He has been to many of us. We are to draw near to him because time is short. We don't need to "figure it all out", but we do need to be strengthened in our faith and know we are relying on Him alone. As long as these priorities are there, studying the endtimes is just fine and most definitely relevant in the times we are in!!

Blessings,

God is not going to pour out his wrath on the church, the body of christ, aka "US", those who believe on him. Jesus says with his own mouth, pray that we are worthy to escape the things that will come to pass. He wouldn't have said that if he didn't provide us with an "escape" aka the rapture. Also, he wouldn't tell us to comfort one another with these words if his message wasn't comforting. Tribulation is not comforting. Jesus is faithful, he will do what he says. He will come for us. He tells us to watch, stay sober, don't fall asleep! He comes as a thief in the night. No warning, no signs. Only the Father knows what time.

God Bless! :)

Though I do believe there is a rapture coming,I do not see that rapture occurring before the tribulation. Look at Matthew 24:29 Immediately AFTER those days of tribulation.... Then 2 Thessalonians 2:3-5 3 Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, 4 who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the TEMPLE OF GOD showing himself that he is God.
Then in Revelation the Greek word for keep, the translation means protection to keep safe. Nowhere does it say remove. However,we are not due God's wrath. Wrath of God and tribulation are very different from one another.
The rapture or the harpazzo the taking away is going to be no secret occurrence. The whole world will know that the taking away has occurred. And they will mourn. The only secret in this happening, is the day and the hour. Matthew 24:30 "At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory. 31And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.
that is not secret, and it is a taking away. If you want to see when the rapture occurs in Revelation, read chapter 14:12-16. That matches exactly Matt 24:30 Jesus sitting on a cloud in great glory, and reaping the earth pulling in his own. That also coincides with the seventh trumpet. Where the angel stands in the heavens and proclaims the kingdoms of the world are become the kingdoms of our Lord.and of his Christ and he shall reign forever and ever. Also Daniel 2:44 matches that as well as 7:14,18,27.
As for Martyrs, there are many many martyrs that must go before us. We even we true Christians those who truly make up the body of Christ may even be martyred. Our testimony will be great, and turn many hardened hearts to the Lord.I can assure you Christians in other countries especially those countries that are very poor, are truly Christs own. They are martyred because they refuse to turn away from their witness of Jesus.
John you seem so angry when you write here. I am praying that the Lord will help you not to be so angry. Anger never ever comes from the Lord. Remember John, Condemnation does not come from the Lord for those who love and live for Christ,Only judgmental people condemn. Also I will end with this John, you do not know who is truly, and who is not truly Christs own. You do not see the heart nor do you know it of anyone, only God knows the heart. We are not here to judge one another's salvation status.

God bless you Jeff and ever keep you growing in the Lord and knowledge of Him.

I have studied a number of Web-pages and bookmark them for their accuracy and reliability on the Bible. I find the people that criticize this site, as having little or no knowledge of G-d’s Word. I do not find any fault with any of the Statement put forth.
