What We're Praying/Talking About

Our faith in action, or our small contribution in trying to apply what we're taught in Hebrews 5-6 and James 2:17-26 for the benefit of our dear brothers and sisters within the Body of Christ...

Purpose Driven Drivel

I saw this over at Watcher's Lamp the other day.

There are a couple of YouTube videos making the rounds that address this fierce, ongoing debate amongst Christians regarding Rick Warren and his Purpose Driven Church movement.

Is Rick Warren A False Teacher, And Is 40 Days The Answer? (PART 1)

Who's Driving The Purpose Driven Church?

This is an offshoot of Southwest Radio Ministries and Rock Salt Publishing who just announced the release of award-winning author and producer, James Sundquist's new DVD entitled: Who’s Driving the Purpose Driven Church?, based on his two books entitled Who's Driving the Purpose Driven Church?, one of Southwest Radio Ministries’ best sellers (several printings and even translated into Chinese by Dr. Christian Wei) and Rick Warren's Global Peace Plan vs. Scriptural Teachings on Peace.

The documentary includes the expose of Warren's evolution/occult-based Carl Jung personality profiling and forced covenants, which in true Big Brother style has been imposed on church members, was also published in two Conservative Christian Theological Journals: Journal of Biblical Apologetics (Fall 2007) and The Conservative Theological Journal (August 2005 and December 2005).

James Sundquist was also the featured guest on Watchman On The Wall national radio show on October 19th and 20th, which is archived online if you care to listen.

Please take the time to review the information that's presented. We've heard, read, and seen a lot of this before already, but every time this topic comes up nowadays I'm struck by how God's Word is twisted ever so slightly to fulfill the purposes of this movement. I'm also struck by how Warren and others like him suggest that the process of sanctification is completed in 40 days rather than remaining a life long process as the Bible clearly tells us it is.

I'm not writing about this today to start a debate, or to widen the divide that already exists in Christianity. I'm just sharing what I've found that has helped me identify the truth in all of this.

I pray that it impacts you much the same way.

I, too, have been unsettled with such movements like Warren's that are peppering the Church today.
And while he is by far NOT the only one around, it seems that he is one of the most popular.

Such subtle twists I find lead to more open and much more blatant disregard for the Gospel as time goes on. Which I think for the warrenites - is starting to show through alot more now.

More and more these types of teachings will be springing up in the Church. We must be wary and steep ourselves in the Word of God to keep ourselves from being so easily fooled.

Thanks for your willingness to be unpopular J. Preach the Gospel!!
