Guess what? Socialism was here long before the Democrats imposed it on us through the various legislation (either proposed or passed) following the election of President Barack Obama and his appointment of too many Czars to count or keep track of.
Many of you have enjoyed the new feature where we look back at "One Year Ago Today..." to see what commentaries appeared in this forum on this date exactly one year ago. You can find this section along the left hand column of the Home Page. I've enjoyed it as well because it's incredible to see how far we've come along God's prophetic timeline in just a single year. Time is short!
In any event, please take a moment to read "Election Post Mortem" (or just watch the video clips), which was written a few days after last year's U.S. Presidential Election. Reading it again after all this time I became a bit nostalgic and was struck by two things in particular:
> Not that I identify myself as a Republican any more (more of an Independent who votes in accordance with his faith and conservative principles and values regardless of the politician that espouses them), but I think that the Elephants may already have their frontrunner for 2012 despite the Palin Presence.
> Pay close attention to the first video embedded in that article. Back then, I characterized it as "the turning point" in this politician's presidential aspirations, and while I still stand by that assertion having thought about it again, I was more surprised by his statements in which he makes the comparison between what went on in the state of Washington during the Republican Primaries with the Soviet Union. Thus, Socialism was here all along, and low and behold it was the Republicans who took a page out of Stalin's playbook at the time!
Regardless of my feeling that he would've been a Populist President who promoted a "Big Tent" philosophy (think Liberalism with Conservative gift wrap), Mike Huckabee was the only formidable choice (Ron Paul and Chuck Baldwin aside) for true conservative voters especially when Mitt Romney dropped out of the running just before the minor conspiracy in the state of Washington.
He would've made a strong case to the American people by being able to clearly and concisely share his plan to take us from the brink of financial ruin with the implementation of things like a Fair Tax, by being able to describe his plan to take us from the brink of foreign crisis by making sure we won the war on terror and defeated our enemies, and by communicating his plan to take us from the brink of moral collapse by returning traditional family values to our nation's leadership (not institutionalizing religion per se, but changing hearts and minds through model moral behavior in the political arena).
A closer look at Huckabee's principles, voting record, policy positions and unique ideas for this country clearly show that this man would've been more in line with what the Republican Party's base wanted their candidate to stand for. Plus, an Obama-Huckabee debate would've been entertaining to say the least I think.
Plus, there's another interesting element to consider in hindsight. Obama won this election in part to the excitement and voter turnout provided by young voters aged primarily 18-29. During the primaries, polling indicated that both Paul and Huckabee had the attention of a large portion of this demographic as well. In addition, anyone who has seen Mike Huckabee on his new Fox TV show knows that the man is an excellent speaker -- he personifies everything that is populist, but he speaks clearly and to the heart of an issue with complete confidence and no bull.
For these reasons, wouldn't it have made more sense to trot out on the national stage one of these two individuals as the Republican Party's future instead of McCain? For all the talk about Obama's communication prowess and rock-star status, I firmly believe that a man like Huckabee -- especially with his political experience and accomplishments -- would've made Obama look like an amateur
In the end, however, it's not a politician or the government that will save us for that job is reserved for an individual beyond comprehension:
John 3:16-17 (KJV) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
Acts 13:38-39 (KJV) Let it be known to you therefore, brothers, that through this man forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you, and by him everyone who believes is freed from everything from which you could not be freed by the law of Moses.
Romans 10:9-13 (KJV) because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. For the Scripture says, 'Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.' For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him. For 'everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.'
1 Thessalonians 5:9-10 (KJV) For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us so that whether we are awake or asleep we might live with him.
Ephesians 2:8-9 (KJV) For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
Furthermore, if the world continues on it's current path we may not be around to debate during another election cycle anyway, which reminds me of one other truth about God:
Daniel 2:21 (KJV) And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:
So, in the final analysis, America got the leader she deserved. God's will cannot be supplanted.
What We're Praying/Talking About
Our faith in action, or our small contribution in trying to apply what we're taught in Hebrews 5-6 and James 2:17-26 for the benefit of our dear brothers and sisters within the Body of Christ...

Hi Jred,
As a person who has been politically active for many years and is a dreaded "purist" let me tell you about my love, hate relationship with the Republican party. Like it or not we are a two party system. Now if you want to look back to how Lincoln was elected I think there were four or five parties that election year. Three parties is suicide...four or five....not so much. I think the best bet for electing a moral, limited government conservative is to work within the party. Or we may have to go rogue, if the party continues to offer up McCains or even Huckabees, or Romneys. Huckabee and Romney both run as conservatives and govern as liberals. Huckabee hurt the pro lifers in his state and he is for open immigration. Romney brought the United States gay marriage. Is that the kind of compromise you can live with? I am a Christian first and let me tell you I can't stand McCain and I voted for him anyways. I picked the socialist over the facsist.
How do I justify voting for someone like McCain? And I wasn't a fan of George Bush. It is sad the ammount of faith Christians had in that man who is NOT a Christian or the Republican party. The Republican party is the only one of the two parties that has a big tent for pro-lifers and people of faith. They need us, but don't necessarily like us. I think the biggest problem with this country is the people who would vote for ANYONE with a D behind their name and the people who would vote for ANYONE with and R behind their name. But Christians are not welcomed in the Democrat tent, so we need to make the other tent our home and fight for it.
I am going to vote for anyone the
"like it or not we are a 2 party system"
That goes to show you how ingrained we are of the communist/socialist agenda that's been perpetrated on the American public for the last 100 years.
Straight out of the communist manifesto - use a 2 party system.
That's why we ought NOT support it!
Besides - Left Wing or Right Wing - both are connected to the same beast. Votes are useless. The agenda of the true power behind the facade is, and always will be, served by ANY candidate that is "elected".
Its not about politics! Its about evil taking over the world. The bible says its gonna happen. So why are we beating our heads against a wall of political bricks?
As if we could stop the very things that are prophesied to come?
We need to start spreading the Gospel in the same enthusiastic way we find ourselves involved in politics, or "the issues". Its all a distraction. And in the end will mean nothing!!
