An Urgent Message: Deep Repentance

I saw this on Believer's Journey:

Deep repentance must come to God's elect if they are to be a vessel worthy to contain the mighty outpouring of God's Spirit that is coming. I have prayed for God to bring a deep repentance to the elect. I pray that God will bring deep repentance to this vessel.

An Urgent Message To God's Elect By B.H. Clendennen

What a powerful indictment of contemporary Christianity ("Churchianity") that we must all address IMMEDIATELY or suffer the consequences! When he spoke of the "user friendly Gospel", of "replacing conviction with counseling", of how "we've confused noise with power", and of how "we've replaced sin with tolerance" I just kept thinking how right he was.

Lord forgive us -- forgive me -- and have mercy!

That message seems to have been posted to YouTube back in mid-October. Just 2-3 weeks later, I found another message by a more tired looking B.H. Clendennen who is obviously trying to sound the alarm while he still can. Please have a look and a listen.

Another Urgent Message to God's Elect by B.H. Clendennen

Now is the time for us to seek confession and repentance.

2 Chronicles 7:13-14 (KJV) If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people; If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. (emphasis mine)

Malachi 3:6 (KJV) For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed. (emphasis mine)

I would like to close with a very sobering reminder from Mr. Clendennen:

"We must ever keep in mind that at this very moment Christ represents us at the Throne of God, and we represent Him on this earth, and we must not misrepresent Him. Amen! We must not misrepresent Him to make Him acceptable to a world in proportion as to 'any religion is true'...Truth must be dogmatic -- absolutely without ambiguity!"

Amen .

Dear Jeff (and those who will read this post),
Posting, writing, emails are very difficult to write and therefore interpret by the reader. However, I must address this recent post of yours. Please know that I agree with some parts of what B.H. said. We definetly all need to repent of our personal sins and seek forgiveness from the LORD.
One of the reasons why our family and many others had left the institutional church years ago was because we "preached" this very message and were rejected. We found death, not life inside these material churches. I do not agree with B.H.: there will not be a great revival, only a great falling away.
As for your statement Jeff, we already have and are suffering the consequences of a very sinful nation. (It's not like 'if we don't hurry up and repent now, we're gonna get it'. No, we already are!)
Lastly, there was something I caught in B.H.s first message:
It sounded like he was saying that GOD's power would be manifested through his healing. It sounded as if he was saying that GOD 'must' heal him in order for GOD's power to be made known. If he is sick and dies and is a believer, he will recieve the ultimate healing.
Is this man sick because of the churches sin? That's why all are praying for repentance? (Listen to the first message/first 2 minutes)

Perhaps it is B.H. himself that needs to repent and publicly apologize for being a part of a whole generation who "allowed" these things to happen in our churches and in our country.
I was not moved by his speaches. I did not hear him repenting. I did not hear him lamenting over his sins, lack of duty or anything else. 'A student is not above his teacher'. If the 'teachers' of this world don't repent, why should they expect their students too? (What I did hear in this mans message was more pastoral manipulation, in the 'name of GOD'. What I sensed is that this man is actually afraid of death/dying).

Dee, thanks for your comments. I get what you're saying. I do.

Yes, you're right about how "we're already getting it" due to sin. My point was to comment on how I see far too many Christians who "deep repentance" doesn't apply to because once they're saved, they don't think they need to deeply repent for anyone (least of which themselves) or anything any longer. Plus, I always try to write with the first-time visitor (or non-Christian) in mind so that's why I always include the "hurry up and repent now" type stuff.

I also kind of lean in your direction when it comes to a "great revival" vs. a "great falling away". I think we're more likely to see the latter than the former.

I also caught that part in the beginning of the first video where he talks about being healed. I see how he spent more time talking about us than about Pastors like him and their role in all of this. Still, I felt that his message was a powerful one that needed to be heard.

Lastly, it's also quite fascinating to me how this is the second time this week where I've shared something that moved me because of the MESSAGE, and yet there were people who could not get past the MESSENGER. Not a criticism really or an indictment, but just a legitimate observation. I think there's something we can both learn about that fact as we apply the iron sharpens iron principle.

All week long I've been receiving messages that speak to "deep repentance" as it applies to each individual.

Dee, thank you as always for sharing your comments.

Jeff, I do appreciate your allowing me to participate in this forum, though my comments could come off negative.

I do see what you are saying about how folks cannot get past the messenger. I listen VERY carefully to what EVERYONE says, regardless of their position, looks, sound of voice ect... Indeed, we can miss 'the message' if we only look at the messenger.
This too, may be where some fail in their ability to disern.

I believe repentance is something the HOLY SPIRIT works in a person. I don't think it can be 'manufactured' or coerced.

I also find it weird (for a lack of a better word) that some folks (preacher types) can make a general assumption to a general or broad audience about where ones heart is personally.
(ex: I don't know this B.H. guy personally and neither does he know me, so how does he know what I am doing/not doing unto the LORD? If I don't 'know' he is a part of the real church, how can I trust what he says?) Just some food for thought...

To Dee-
I perceive a pastor (BH Clendennen) who is in anguish because he is dying and he is burdened by the message of deep repentance to be heard before he dies.

I agree that deep repentance comes from the Holy Spirit. But I believe we must pray for it and be willing to receive it.
I am still uncertain as to whether a "great revival" is coming. I tend to think "No".

But listen, God is merciful and Jesus is crying for His bride. He wants every one of them to come to repentance.
Please don't be too quick to judge the messenger. The message is right on target. I believe there are many pastors out there who will repent and be an example to others to do the same. I believe there is a danger in judging those who have fallen away. Watch this sermon from Carter Conlon called "Beware of the Angry Watchmen"
