This news is a bit old. It's from January 8th, but it deserves mention here mainly because it's something I never thought I'd see.
The Islamic Supreme Council of Canada issued a fatwa against terrorism on January 8, 2010. Twenty Imams signed the fatwa from all across Canada, including Canadian Naqshbandi Saint Qazi Bashirduddin.
CBC RadioOne Interview of Sayyid Ahmed Amiruddin
This "fatwa", or "religious edict", declares that an attack by terrorists on the two countries -- Canada or the United States -- would constitute an attack on the 10 million Muslims living in North America. This marked the first fatwa by the Muslim clergy declaring attacks on Canada and the U.S. to be attacks on Muslims.
That begs the questions: What gives? Why now? Genuine or not?

Hmm. I agree with the interviewer. Could be wrong, but I thought Islamic terrorists believed it was an honor to die in such an attack (especially if you were the one to bring the attack). With this mentality of little self-preservation for the glory of their god, then surely they will believe they are doing western Islamic peoples a favor??? Just my rambling thoughts.
I can agree with anonymous #1.
I believe this was a great statement to make to the world, but bottom line is the Islamic extremist terrorists not only think it is an honor to kill themselves but are also taught that those Muslims who die because of them are automatically Martyrs who go directly to heaven. So, this Fatwa is pretty much useless and meaningless to them.
They could also use this statement as a means of excusing themselves by declaring the Fatwa proves those countries could now be considered Islamic and therefore are occupied by infidels giving them the right to fight in those lands.
America has already been proclaimed "one of the largest MUSLIM countries in the world", and this statement is merely reaffirming that fiction. I agree with Anonymous #2, there is actually something ominous about this pronouncement, Islam shares a basic doctrine with Communism which is 'the end justifies the means' any act, including DECEPTION, is not only acceptable but admirable if it benefits Islam (or Communism). Although the 'western world', as a whole, has gone to great lengths to reject the Judeo-Christian world view, we still tend to look at the world through a Biblical lens, believing that values such as truth and honesty apply to those who hold an anti-Christian world view. But, the use of lies and deception to destroy your enemy are 'written tenets' of the enemies of the Judeo-Christian world view.

Just a thought, but this story really concerns me. JRed said, "why now"...well maybe "why now" is that this is a chess piece being put into position. The next step is some false flag/orchestrated attack that is real or blamed on fundamentalist believers: Bible-believing Christians could easily be lumped in with the violent Jihadists. All of a sudden, the enemies of moderate Christians and Muslims are the fundamentalists that will be tagged as extreme. Of course, I certainly am not siding with the actions of militant jihadists or for that matter any militant/violent Christians, Jews, or any other religion. The point being, is that this seems like a way to get the general population prepared for an event and begin persecution of all supposed extreme believing religious people all in the name of peace. It is a little chilling when one thinks about it that way. Of course, I could be wrong....just my two cents. May the Lord Jesus Christ protect all of us.

Yeah...I concur with JRed, what gives?? The fatwa proclamation just sounds like some kind of reverse.....psychobabble!
