What We're Praying/Talking About

Our faith in action, or our small contribution in trying to apply what we're taught in Hebrews 5-6 and James 2:17-26 for the benefit of our dear brothers and sisters within the Body of Christ...

One Year, And Still One Nation Under God

Interesting.

The last entry was about our affinity to engage in "collective amnesia" as human beings, and now this post also has something to say about the importance of "looking back".

I'm so glad that I was led to create the "One Year Ago Today..." feature that appears on the left hand side of the page. As you'll see, each day has been an eye-opening experience for me.

In case you've never checked it out (or had no idea it even existed), the concept is fairly simple really. In an effort to strengthen our faith and to demonstrate God's faithfulness to His Word, I began including links to all the columns that appeared on this website one year ago to the very day.

What I've been noticing lately, however, is how that quick "look back" not only strengthens our faith, but it adds new insight to our limited view of things in the here and now. Of course, I don't believe that's a coincidence at all.

More importantly, I've marvelled at the way in which our Heavenly Father has orchestrated things in such a way where last year's writings resonate strongly with issues being debated and discussed at this precise moment. That, to me, is further proof that He was, is, and will always be in complete control of this world's affairs despite the world's constant attempts to convince us that all is hopeless.

All of that was written to lay the proper foundation first. What I humbly ask you to do is to take some time looking at the following articles from 1 year ago. With all the talk these days about "the next terrorist attack to dwarf 9/11", and of the President and politicians working to intentionally destroy this nation from within by stripping citizens of their freedoms and weakening our country's sovereignty to the point where it's virtually non-existent, they couldn't be more relevant.

How so? Well, assuming some kind of "divine judgment" falls upon this nation like a majority of us believe is imminent (no matter what form that judgment might take), it would undoubtedly change the face of the nation -- and the world -- like nothing before it. This, coupled with the fact that we're on the cusp of the Tribulation, has most thinking about the rise of the prophesied "Ten Kings" and their connection to the geo-political restructuring of a post-divine judgment America.

I'm getting ahead of myself here. Read the following studies and you'll see why I mention all of this now at the outset:

10 Kings

America's 10 Kings

Constitution For The Newstates Of America

The World Without U.S.

As always, your comments are welcomed and encouraged.

In the end, it's been one year and despite this nation's unrepentant sins she's still a nation under God (whether her leaders want her to be or not).

Make no mistake, that means that this nation belongs to Him and He will determine what does or doesn't happen to her (and when):

Psalm 22:28 (KJV) For the kingdom is the LORD's: and he is the governor among the nations.

Psalm 47:7-8 (KJV) For God is the King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding. God reigneth over the heathen: God sitteth upon the throne of his holiness.

He also doesn't leave us guessing about what's in store since He will not be mocked:

Psalm 82:8 (KJV) Arise, O God, judge the earth: for thou shalt inherit all nations.

Psalm 96:13 (KJV) Before the LORD: for he cometh, for he cometh to judge the earth: he shall judge the world with righteousness, and the people with his truth.

Revelation 19:11 (KJV) And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.

What came to me, Jeff, was that God has definitely been using you as his Biblical prophecy bloodhound! I've been reading your blog for about a year and half pretty "religiously", and somehow I missed these articles. But reading them now, they make everything that's happening today come together and as that old song goes, "I can see clearly now..." But the question is....how long must be under the rule of this world government before the rise of the anti-christ and how much persecution must Christians in the west have to suffer prior to Christ's return? I, too, think we're on the cusp of the tribulation, but we are in birth pangs. Ask any woman who's given birth without the assistance of medication, and she'll tell you that those birth pangs seem to last forever! But, nonetheless, this is a well-timed post and is greatly appreciated. It makes me see, as a mother with a ten year old son, how important it is to ground my child in the knowledge of Christ, his word, and what will definitely come to pass in his lifetime.

As disciples of Christ we are dismayed when we look out at society and see it free-falling into depravity - but as Solomon said, there is nothing new under the sun. Paul warned Timothy to discern theses times - the father of this world is ramping up his efforts - that is evident. Here is a great devotional from the Institute for Creation Research - hope it encourages.

Life Among the Philistines
January 6, 2010

"Abraham sojourned in the Philistines' land many days." (Genesis 21:34)

This great man Abraham, who is known for faith as he "sojourned in the land of promise" (Hebrews 11:9), is also recognized for living faithfully among the heathen.

We who are New Testament "children of Abraham" (Galatians 3:7) should understand our role as "ambassadors" (2 Corinthians 5:20) as well as "strangers and pilgrims on the earth" (Hebrews 11:13). Jesus prayed to the heavenly Father "not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil" (John 17:15).

Abraham's life and testimony should encourage us to emulate his reputation. First, those with whom Abraham dealt with recognized "God is with thee in all that thou doest" (Genesis 21:22). Even though Abraham lived among a pagan society, they knew him to be a man of God. Wherever the Lord may place us, our first obligation is to maintain a lifestyle and testimony that leave no question of our allegiance. "And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus" (Colossians 3:17).

Second, the expectations of the world's society is nominally just the same as the Philistines' leader: "That thou wilt not deal falsely with me, nor with my son, nor with my son's son: but according to the kindness that I have done unto thee, thou shalt do unto me, and to the land wherein thou hast sojourned" (Genesis 21:23). In a purely practical way, "when a man's ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him" (Proverbs 16:7).

Abraham ran a very successful agricultural business with hundreds of employees. He did so maintaining a godly testimony in a pagan society under stressful conditions. In Scripture, he is called the "Friend of God" (James 2:23). Would God this could be said of all of us. HMM III

a little off-topic (..or not?) :

a graphic of the eclipse from next week Friday -
http://www.shadowandsubstance.com/

yes I realize that 22July was one, as well - but interesting is the startingpoint at sunRISE :
E-Europe, onwards over Asia
..is todays unusual deafening silence a 7days marker..?

see the above "retrograde of Mars" as proof that signs in Heavens are from Him (though we may not understand the meaning always):
this retrograde was the same phenomenon as to why "the star stopped above Betlehem "

Side comment: The competition just released more fodder at Satan's delight. The followers of Scientology and L. Ron Hubbard is releasing previously unheard recordings and writings comparing it to finding stuff that Buddha wrote!

Linda,

Thank you for those excellent thoughts to keep in mind, especially for me as I hang out with known pagans (for divine purpose), and openly known for my allegiance to God.
