First and foremost, it's a tragedy beyond comprehension and I pray that those who survived turn to God for hope, strength, and restoration instead of shaking their fists defiantly at God for causing such pain, suffering, and death.
That last point is what I want to build off of. God created nature. Therefore, we logically conclude that He controls nature. He decides when and where and how certain things happen in this physical realm. He also knows the "why" behind it all too, even if we don't, or can't with our finite brains. It's not our place to criticize or judge His methods or motives.
Still, that doesn't mean that we can't have a serious discussion about the spiritual roots and spiritual ramifications of this event.
As Christians, we should know that it does have deep spiritual connections. Just a casual study on the history of Haiti will reveal as much, and so we shouldn't feel shame in voicing that point of view. Why? Because even if this tragedy is the result of our common enemy as some charge, the bottom line is that God still allowed it to happen because of all the "open doorways" over there.
Plus, we know that nothing happens in this world without God allowing it to happen. If you have any doubts about that then please listen to Russ Dizdar's latest podcast called "Haiti, Voodoo, A Pact With The Devil..." because he does an excellent job framing this discussion (one that we all need to be having especially with unbelievers now more than ever), and describing the proper Christian response because the world is watching.
Yes, the rest of the world will say that to suggest a spiritual cause publicly and so soon after the bloodshed and devastation is "cold" and "insensitive" at a time such as this, and that it's precisely why they hate us Christians. But that doesn't make it any less true! Besides, they're unbelievers. What are they going to say except that very thing? The only say such things because they don't know the truth.
Clearly, what happened in Haiti ist a terrible thing and it's awful to see any of the images coming out of that part of the world (and I'll be making a small donation to help in whatever small way that I can), but I can't say that I'm terribly surprised. That's why I'll continue praying that the survivors in Haiti realize that their god doesn't offer them hope or eternal salvation. That's why I'll continue praying that the survivors in Haiti realize that their only hope for the future is in Jesus Christ.
Global Aid Network (GAiN) is on the ground in Haiti right now and they need your help to treat survivors and save lives. GAiN has a network of local churches and other relief workers already in Haiti, working desperately to reach and treat survivors. But they need your help to ease the suffering of our brothers and sisters in Haiti.
PLEASE GIVE TO THE HAITI DISASTER RELIEF FUND NOW.
More valuable than your financial donation, please be sure to pray for everyone on the ground over there because they sure need it.

Jred, have you been to The Millenium Prophecy website? It is very interesting and might explain why Haiti was rocked to pieces...shalom
JRed,
If anyone wants to actually GO to Haiti to help, our church is affiliated with a Christian ministry in the Dominican Republic called SCORE International. SCORE can host several hundred people at their facility, and are currently organizing relief trips to Haiti beginning at the end of the month.
You can look them up at www.scoreinternational.org for more info. Trip cost right now is $1200 for a week, which includes airfare, meals -- everything. JRed, feel free to give people my email if you'd rather not post the website on here. SCORE really is a top-drawer, Christ-focused ministry that is doing a strong work in the Dominican.

Jeff, I'll listen to the Dizdar podcast later. I think what Pat Robertson said was premature and unthoughtful. It is not our's to judge people.
“And Jesus answered and said to them, “Do you suppose that these Galileans were worse sinners than all other Galileans, because they suffered such things? I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.”
Luke 13:2-
I mean what kind of Christian are we if we kick people when they are down?
I understand that they have a lot of open doors there, but the US opened the door on death when it let abortion be legal. Is voodoo a worse sin than sex slavery, gambling, drugs and my most mentioned: false preachers and teachers who make their disciple twice a son of hell than before they ever started listening to them. I would even gander to say that Robertson is more evil than the voodoo Haitians!
Oh and not to mention that there are a lot of Christian missonaries in Haiti who've been there for years and they got hurt or killed too.

Hi JRed,
A different take on the earthquake from the christian website Cutting Edge today...
"... some scientists in their laboratories ... are engaging even in an eco-type of terrorism whereby they can alter the climate, set off earthquakes, volcanoes remotely through the use of electromagnetic waves." (Defense Secretary William Cohen, Terrorism, Weapons of Mass Destruction, and U.S. Strategy Sam Nunn Policy Forum, April 28, 1997, University of Georgia, Athens, Georgia)
Cutting Edge concurs with this and says..."that this earthquake was caused by electromagnetic pulse trigger because the Illuminati is determined to reduce earth's population by a full 66% percent. Earthquakes are extremely powerful tools to reduce population."
http://www.cuttingedge.org/newsletters/newsalert.htm
You can text Haiti to 90999 and they will add $10 to your next cell phone bill. The money goes to the Red Cross and they have already raided $4M.
Anonymous #1 I looked at that Millennium Prophecy site and in my opinion, there are a lot of problems with that man's ideas. I mean, I'm not calling him wrong, but when it comes to logic and other issues, he makes some pretty outrageous claims and predictions. He says "a lot" but doesn't support it with anything! He also does not break it down with either logic or scripture that I could see. Also, his idea of chronological events seems whacked out as well; so much has to happen long before the stuff he is talking about! Just giving you my opinion of that site since you mentioned it here.
I think the reason Haiti has had it so hard all these years is because of a myriad of causes, mostly poverty. To lash out and blame this on some long ago generation selling out to Satan or simply because some people practice voodoo is sad. (Immediately after the quake there were many reports of those calling out to Jesus and praying together). There are many worse (evil) places in the world that have no such suffering! Jesus himself said it rains on the good as well as the bad.
Matthew 5:45b
;for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.
People need to step back and think rationally with the brains God gave us and not jump to nonsensical hyperbole. A really good article explains it very well:
Why Haiti keeps getting hammered by disasters

Good overview of earthquakes in the Bible:
http://www.mswm.org/earthquakes/earth_quakes/superearthquakes_superearthquakes.htm
pk
I do not give much weight to what anyone claims these scientists can do, but I do know from my study of earthquakes that that area of Haiti was hot for a large earthquake and has been known to have large ones before, even larger than the one that occurred.
If the Illuminati were wanting to rid the world of people using earthquakes they are wasting their time. There are many other ways more efficient and probably cheaper to rid the world of many more people than to attempt to produce an earthquake in any particular area.
Just understanding tectonics and how the plates move is enough to know there is no way to predict where the quake will occur along a multitude of faults or the magnitude. That just is not possible. And many faults are like these particular type (slip faults) which is why they have so many quakes every day.
I'd buy the bird/swine flu attempt long before I'd ever believe science can create an earthquake like this. Also, the only reason for a large number of deaths in this area is because of the poorly built homes. You will probably never see these many deaths anywhere else in the world today where the major faults are located. Not worth the effort, my friend.
And just because a web site claims to be Christian does not mean it will always produce Christian content or content that is reliable. If a Christian site is "selling" you information such a books and CD's, odds are it is more interested in your money and will produce emotional literature to get it and the Cutting Edge is rife with that. Satan is working hard night and day. Be careful.
..again, I feel strongly that tptb somehow 'speed up' the genuine shift of the poles
Not only P.Charles seems to have foreknowledge (about the started poleshift - whatever its caused by); anonymous #3 please read this article about another

it is sound advice to tell the people to pray for hati.
but to urge to give to tax exempt collection agencies or proffesional
charities is a abomination to GOD!
as I have explaned in the past these corporations are only in business to help them selves!!!
first off by law, proffesional charities only have to pay out 15% of what they take in. secondly they are controlled by the gov. just like churches and are just programming tools, to get the wounded people to believe that charities and the gov . will save them? if you do not know this is a lie yet, you are in big trouble!!!
third by sending the UN and the US military and so called relief workers, you are rebelling against god!!! and teaching these people that these gov. controlled orgainzations are GOD!!!
the only intrest the UN and US military have is controlling this country! where have they been for the last 100 years or so while these people were living in skauler.
also from everything I have read this is a major stopping point on the george bush cocain drug train into or country!!!!
just do alittle investigation into the IRAN CONTRA AFFAIR, with olly north, george h.w. bush and the neocon specials!!! never forget george H.W. bush was part of the CIA most of his adult life.
so if you want to give to a gov. controlled charity to make yourself feel better, by all means go for it. but do not fool yourself into believeing you are doing GODS work!!! and good luck with that?
GOD help these foolish people who still do not understand your ways.
in the name of JESUS CHRIST!!!!!!!amen

come on use your head? of coarse voodoo and santaria are worse then gambleing and other sorts of evil!
it bracks the first and most important commandment!!!
thou shall have no other god before me!!!!!!!
not to mention idolitry and all the other things you mentioned!
please I feel sorry for these people, but they must turn to the one true GOD for salvation and protection!!! you or I can not change that. nor do I want to!!!
PLEASE DEAR GOD SHOW THESE PEOPLE YOUR TRUTH AND YOUR WAYS!!! IF IT IS IN YOUR WILL!!!!!!!AMEN
john
Anonymous #10,
I appreciate your response, and totally understand where you're coming from. I put my faith in the Bible, and simply trust what Jesus said about earthquakes in the last days. I'm fully grounded in the Word, and yes, I do believe that Cutting Edge is a christian organization with an archive of fantastic articles that have stood the test of time, and a fundamental, bible-believing Director who writes the daily newsletter articles. Their home page, cuttingedge.org, details their faith & vision statement, and has backgroud on the staff. I agree that the site sells books & dvds, but that is not inherently wrong, in my opinion.
I check out just a select few websites pretty much every day to get a good balance of end times' literature/perspective...Joel Rosenberg, Bill Salus (they both sell books/dvds...lol), Look Up Fellowship(doesn't sell books/dvds, right JRed??...lol), Cutting Edge, and then get daily encouragement from David Wilkerson's devotionals. None of these are perfect people/websites, and so that's why my ultimate faith is placed not in man's sometimes fallible words, but in God's infallible words & truth.
I don't know if the earthquake was scientifically manipulated (all I know is God's word is true, and He warned us of earthquakes in the end times), but I thought the concept of H.A.A.R.P. was interesting. That doesn't diminish the fact that it was a horrible, unspeakable tragedy, and my heart breaks for the people of Haiti. "There but for the grace of God go I," right?
Please come quickly, Lord.
Sounds like scalar weaponry involved here used to cause an earthquake, whether purposely or not. Now all of a sudden you have 11,000 US troops on the ground with more to come. Sounds like an occupation to me, although it could just be a coincidence. But look at Haiti strategically for a second. Cuba is to the north, Venezuela is to the South, Panama a little to the Southwest. So what, right? But these countries have strong allegiances with Russia, Iran, and / or China. Very strategic position if you ask me, whether done on purpose or not, and for what reason is yet to be seen. Or, it could be Haiti is a smoke screen for something else. Time will tell.
Can I please know a safe place... Rome... USA...
