What We're Praying/Talking About

Our faith in action, or our small contribution in trying to apply what we're taught in Hebrews 5-6 and James 2:17-26 for the benefit of our dear brothers and sisters within the Body of Christ...

Family - Notable Quotable

"God has designed your family -- not the youth group, not the children’s ministry, not the Christian school, but your family -- as the principle discipling agent in your children’s lives." Voddie Baucham

Had an LOL moment, went to hit the "like" button but realized this wasn't Facebook.

If you cannot get a copy of his book, Family Driven Faith, then I suggest you watch this video. It's definitely prayer-provoking and has directed us to reach more for the Father than relying on our own knowledge (or letting others teach our children).

As he says in the video, anything they get outside the family unit should be gravy.

Sorry. That was a good one but this is the one I meant to put up in relation to raising families for Christ.

Also, you might want to google his sermon on brokenness, when you have time sometime.

To become a critical thinker, one needs a guide. GOD, JESUS, HOLY SPIRIT, husband, wife, children.

One thing we hated about the church was their insistance on separating the family during worship. Sure maybe little ones can become a distraction: but from what? All the pastors serve up is pablum.

Tam Z, thanks for the video link. If you want to become email friends

Dee, will email you sometime Monday. :)

Mr. VB is a big advocate of homeschooling so I've had the opportunity to hear some other lectures and whatnot. God has definitely gifted him with speaking and I always check to make sure it's Scriptural, ya know, so far so good.

But in one of his lectures he talked about how the schools segregated families, and the churches, in an effort to reach out to those children whose families no longer attended churches created youth programs (Sunday School, youth services, etc.). These were meant to be for those who did not have instruction in the home. Over time, these became the expected route to teaching children (and as he said in part two of the video--second link--the danger is that we walk away from our responsibilities, leaving them in the hands of others).

Amen! To the article, that is.
