What We're Praying/Talking About

Our faith in action, or our small contribution in trying to apply what we're taught in Hebrews 5-6 and James 2:17-26 for the benefit of our dear brothers and sisters within the Body of Christ...

Judging Others - Notable Quotable

The past couple of weeks we've spent some time on I Want To Believe Radio tackling the common objection "Christians Shouldn't Judge Others!" to either prove or disprove such a statement based on what God's Word has to say.

Reminds me of this quote...

"Here is a pattern that all ministers ought to follow. Publicly and privately, from the pulpit and in private visits, they ought to rebuke all open sin, and deliver a faithful warning to all who are living in it. It may give offence. It may entail immense unpopularity. With all this they have nothing to do. Duties are theirs. Results are God’s." - J.C. Ryle / 1816–1900

I think righteous judgment is OK.

The problem comes when a person is "judgmental" all the time, or if he presumes to judge others for doing the same thing he himself does.

I've had people say to me, "I thought Christians weren't supposed to judge!" I respond by saying that I'm not judging, I'm rebuking sin. Two different things!

(I've never had anybody make the next logical statement, which would be, "Why don't you rebuke your own sin?" To which I would respond, "I don't have to, the Holy Spirit does that.")
