Ladies and Gentlemen, we might want to revisit the broadcast from a few weeks back titled "Why Are Christians Embracing Sarah Palin When They Shouldn't Be?" because it's now more relevant than ever.
In case you missed it, this is the headline that's dominating the national media today:
"Republican Women Dominate Elections"
Now, keep in my that the study done over the course of that 2-hour program was not necessarily specific only to Sarah Palin, but in regards to all women who God sets up to become national leaders.
That brings up another important point that I feel I have to keep reiterating (even though it seems so straight-forward) because I keep getting the same types of comments and emails whenever I bring this topic up for serious and prayerful consideration.
THIS IS NOT A DEBATE ABOUT WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS ABOUT A WOMAN'S ROLE IN SOCIETY IN GENERAL, BUT A DEBATE ABOUT WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS ABOUT A NATION WHEN IT HAS A WOMAN (OR WOMEN) AS ITS LEADER (LEADERS). THAT'S A KEY DISTINCTION.
Look, I already know the types of response that I'll get to this. I'll be told that I'm "narrow-minded", or a "sexist", or "wrong because of Esther and Ruth amongst others" and I understand that. Again, I'm not saying that there aren't examples in the Bible of strong women who God ordained for a specific national purpose. All I'm saying is that we need to look at things seriously -- Biblically -- and ask ourselves if we could perhaps be wrong about these women political leaders nowadays.
The bottom line is that the Bible has some pretty poignant things to say about women as national leaders, and in some places CLEARLY indicates that it COULD BE a sign of God's displeasure with and coming judgement upon a nation. That's in the very Word of God.
So, given this fact, is it POSSIBLE that we could be wrong to embrace people like Sarah Palin, Michele Bachmann, and these other women who won elections yesterday especially given all the other signs of the times that are suggesting God's displeasure and divine judgment is at hand?
Just think it through. If we already believe that the prophesied end is near, then how can we honestly say that these candidates to lead our nation are not also consistent with that coming end that's full of judgment just like we're shown in the Bible.
Yes, I could be completely wrong about this. But so could millions of Christians who are embracing and promoting such individuals, which is tantamount to them embracing and promoting God's judgment, is it not?
Again, all I'm asking is that we all seriously consider the POSSIBILITY and study God's Word for ourselves in light of everything else that's going on in the world today instead of blindly accepting such candidates for political office merely because they're "a breath of fresh air" compared to those already in the political machine in Washington DC.
The issue ALWAYS comes down to what God's Word has to say about such things. Yes, I know all about how Sarah Palin was likened to Esther during the last election cycle. That demands that we take a closer look, doesn't it?
TO REITERATE, I'M NOT SAYING THAT ALL WOMEN LEADERS ARE "BAD" NECESSARILY. ALL I'M TRYING TO DO IS POINT OUT TO THE BODY OF CHRIST HOW WE MUST BE CAREFUL HERE. FAR TOO MANY WITHIN THE BODY OF CHRIST ARE SIMPLY ACCEPTING ALL OF THIS AS "NO BIG DEAL" AND A WELCOMED CHANGE IN REGARDS TO "POLITICS AS USUAL" AND THAT CONCERNS ME. WHY? BECAUSE I KNOW THAT ONE OF SATAN'S GREATEST TOOLS IN THIS LIFE THAT HE USES TO DISTRACT US FROM WHAT'S REALLY IMPORTANT IS POLITICS. THE EMOTIONS THAT ARE STOKED IN RESPONSE TO ANY POLITICAL DEBATE, WHETHER DOMESTIC OR FOREIGN, CAN BLIND US TO THE TRUTH ABOUT WHAT'S REALLY GOING ON.
Look, given the spiritual convergence involving all the other end times signs, isn't it at least PLAUSIBLE to think that maybe -- just maybe -- what God's Word has to say about women as national leaders that's "negative" (as in it being a sign of coming judgment) applies in this case as opposed to the "positive" cases being the ones we should apply?
ONCE MORE FOR THE RECORD: THIS IS NOT ABOUT WHAT GOD'S WORD HAS TO SAY ABOUT A WOMAN'S ROLE IN SOCIETY IN GENERAL, BUT ABOUT WHAT GOD'S WORD HAS TO SAY ABOUT WOMEN WHEN HE ALLOWS THEM TO BECOME LEADERS OF A NATION TO SUIT HIS PURPOSES. THAT'S A KEY DISTINCTION.

Thanks for stopping by and for commenting, but I must respectfully ask if you even read this commentary?
I concede to your point and admitted as much in this commentary -- God has used women (and yes, a donkey) to fulfill His plans for humanity.
What you're missing is that He has used them in such a way that they were viewed POSITIVELY and in such a way that they were viewed NEGATIVELY. I'm just asking us to make sure we seek Him and His Word first to determine which one it is in these cases nowadays instead of just assuming we know.
Lastly, that comment about "pro-abortion Democrats" seems absurd. As a Christian, I never suggested (or would suggest) anything of the sort.
If that's all you got out of this piece (an exhortation for us to study the Word more than we do, more closely than we do), then I'm not sure what else I can do, or say, or write on this subject other than to pray about the whole thing.

JRed....AS a woman and a mother, I have to say I completely agree....these types of things have to be taken into prayerful consideration. (I do think it is a sign of the times.) I am however, a little surprised at how defensive people can become when dealing with these topics. I know you tried to tread lightly on this so not to offend anyone. I see all the stuff in Washington as a huge distraction to believers. Do you "believe" the LORD is coming soon? If so, why try to change anyhing in the matrix? HE says HE will remove the veil that lies over the nations. "Let him who steals continue to steal, let him who is righteous continue to be righteous', no matter what the nation looks like. Our brethren in different parts of the world have lost limb and life for the sake of the gospel and HIS name. I see this article as a distraction and a possible thing to keep up hitched up to this world.

Regardless, whether or not we are on the precipice of the end, nationally men have failed and there has blossomed a room for women to lead. It's not the fact that they are women, it's that the need for leaders and conservative leaders has arisen. Would you say the same thing about a person of color? Does the bible say anything about that? Men for hundreds of years have succumb to the unseen powers and principalities when being in political office and a vacuum has been created and is being filled by LEADERS and they happen to be women. JRed forget the fact that they are of another gender. You are making this fit your argument for current events.

As a Christian woman nearing 40 and a mother of 4, I agree with you and also thank you for treading lightly here on this topic. You want people to think about it and to search the wrod of the Lord, which is what we all should be doing. Men are failing us; in the family first and now in society and government. It is a sad thing to witness. Perhaps He is using women due to this fact or as a judgement. We have seen the results of women in leadership within the church, and I must say, it is not a good thing. Men are failing in the church, women have stepped up but now what is going on in the church in America and our families? I see apostasy, confusion and the break down of the family.
