What We're Praying/Talking About

Our faith in action, or our small contribution in trying to apply what we're taught in Hebrews 5-6 and James 2:17-26 for the benefit of our dear brothers and sisters within the Body of Christ...

Real Persecution

A vast majority of us are so blessed to be able to not only live in a country where the Holy Bible is still 'legal', but to also be able to go through life without having to worry about being violently persecuted for our cherished faith.

We access the Internet daily and engage in any number of endless 'discussions' and 'debates' about Christianity and think we're being 'persecuted' when someone singles us out in the Comments Section and writes a scathing rebuttal to something we posted. Hardly! We Christians here in America have it so easy.

I say that with full confidence because I know that many of us complain when we're 'persecuted' by family members and friends because of our faith in Jesus Christ. As if somehow the joking, mocking, and name-calling is in any way similar to what our dear brothers and sisters in other parts of the world are experiencing right now.

You want to know what real Christian persecution is like?

Terror Group Wants Somalia Rid Of Christians

Somalia’s Islamist terror group al Shabab wants to rid the Muslim country of all Christians and is specifically targeting Christian converts from Islam.

Al Shabab recently joined with al Qaeda and wants Sharia law implemented in the country.

An al Shabab video that swept the Internet in September 2008 shows the brutal beheading of 25-year-old aid worker Mansour Mohammed. His crime? Mohammed converted to Christianity in 2005.

One year ago, a Muslim convert to Christianity was awakened in his home by al Shabab soldiers. CBN News agreed to protect his identity, giving him the name “Abdi.”

“They ransacked my house, searched my bag, and found several pages from a Bible,” he told CBN News. “They had crosses on them.”

Abdi was taken away, imprisoned, and tortured.

“I was blindfolded and they put me in a dark, underground cell. They beat me up with a wooden baton,” he explained.

"They wanted to know where I got the Bible pages and if I knew of any others like me," he continued. "When they finally took the blindfold off, I noticed three dead bodies in the room. They placed them there just to frighten me."

Abdi's torturers said they were going to kill him. But late one night, he and two cellmates made a daring escape.

Somali Christian leaders estimate that fewer than 200 Christians exist in this country of 10 million -- only 200!

Somali Christians are praying for a better life -- one free from the oppression of al Shabab and other Islamists. As one Christian there put it...

"Pray that we Somali believers will live our lives closer to the kingdom of God. Pray that we will endure the weight of life in this Islamic nation."

Yes, let's pray indeed.

By the way, it's not just happening in Somalia either.

Islamic Extremists Beat And Mock Christians In India

In New Delhi, India, Islamic extremists storm a prayer meeting, resulting in the beating of a 65 year-old widow, another woman, and the mocking of attending Christians.

This all happened less than a month after they helped drive a young woman out of her home and village for her faith, Compass Direct Reports.

Islamists in Nutangram, Murshidabad district forced their way into the home of Gaffar Shaike on March 30 around 2 p.m., as 11 Christians from Believers’ Church were gathered for lunch and worship.

This all happened near the same area of Nutangram on March 9, where Islamic extremists drove 22-year-old Rekha Khatoon out of her village because she dared to give thanks for healing in Christ’s name in the predominantly Muslim village; her parents helped the Islamists to beat her nearly unconscious.

The seven extremists, led by Mohammed Aanu Shaike stormed into the house of Gaffar Shaike, and ordered them to stop the meeting, according to the Pastor of Believer’s Church, Bashir Pal.

So much for the so-called 'Religion of Peace' that's always demanding 'tolerance', huh?

Seriously though, haven't you ever noticed how one-sided the religious attacks are? I mean, you don't see Christians doing this sort of thing to Muslims or Hindus. Yet, we're the 'intolerant' and 'narrow-minded' ones all the time. It's all just more proof that God and His Word can be trusted.

Despite the beginning signs that religious persecution is beginning to take root more and more in this country, we can't complain whatsoever because, when compared to other countries in the world, we have it good. And yet, our Bibles, which contain the living and life-changing Word of God, sit on a bookshelf collecting dust.

In many countries, the Gospel can't be shared freely. As I've just documented, repressive governments and religions stop Christians from telling others about Jesus Christ in a manner that often leads to brutality and death.

It's frightening to think that this is only the tip of the iceberg since Jesus warned us that things would get much worse in the end times.

In fact, during the Tribulation all the saints who proclaim faith in Jesus Christ (those who reject worshipping the coming Antichrist) will be hunted down and murdered -- beheaded actually. What a shock that will be to us Westerners, but not for those Christians who face this treat every single day of their lives as I type this.

Please pray for our persecuted brethren -- everywhere across the globe.

Well said Jeff.
I have heard it said that Christians who are persecuted around the world often pray for us in the West as they understand how easy it is to become complacent in our walk with the Lord when things are going well. Many of them have even gone on to say that they never want to trade places with us either! I find this a very sobering thought...
