As I continue to spend a lot of time studying such things as 'Election', and 'Grace', and 'Predestined vs. Free Will', and 'Sovereignty', I came across a brief video that's worth sharing.
This is a timely 4-minute excerpt of a sermon John Piper gave that we're going to title 'Some Predestined, Some Deceived' because that's not only what he's preaching here, but it's also the reality that God's Word speaks of.
Yes, I'm well aware of (and equally uncomfortable with) some of the company that John Piper has been keeping recently that have caused Christians to question whether or not he's guilty of compromising the truth of God's Word, but that doesn't change the fact that his comments here are powerful because they're Biblical.
I particularly enjoyed his explanation of how some "pervert grace" too. Sad, but true these days.
Anyway, I hope you were edified by this short video today.

I have to admit that while I've read several Piper quotes, I've never actually taken the time to listen to him preach. Not sure why that is, but I'm glad I listenedd to this one.

Predestination runs side by side with free will. We know that day one in Genesis, God created light and he created darkness. In day four he made the sun and the moon. What did make on day one? Isaiah 45:7 he tell us what what light and darkness on day one is.
Isa 45:7
7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord do all these things. KJV
The very first thing God made, even before man existed, was the ability to make a choice, without evil there is no free will.. See that! Evil had to exist, lots of people struggle with this... God made everything.
Isaiah 45:7 God told us that he created peace and evil...
Predestination, where does it fit in.
Well, prophecy written is obviously are predestine events, so let me prove this.
The disciples asked Jesus when they walked up on a blind man who was begging... They asked him who sinned,Him or his parents? What did Jesus Answer?
This had no choice here, he was predestined to born blind so God can manifest his power..... The moment Jesus walked by... At that very moment
John 9:3
3 Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him. KJV
Predestination and free will run side by side. In free will we have the choice to love God or not in a predestined series of events that have already been written, and no matter what, these events are going to take place.
Praise God brother Jeff, keep on rockin'.....Laughing, you are a good man of God!
WSOPNE,
It was great hearing from you (it's been awhile so I hope all is well with you and yours).
Thank you for commenting by expounding upon the truths shared in this entry. That was helpful.
By the way, for anyone else who's reading this, there was a good Q&A about this post in the Live Chat box to the right on the Home Page (just scroll back to the comments from 6/5 and 6/6).
In Christ,
Jeff
